Abstract
Nickel chloride and thiolate complexes supported by benzene-pyridine-based nonsymmetrical PCN pincer ligands, [2-(tBu2PO)-6-(2-pyrindinyl-4-R)-C6H3]NiX (R = H, CH3, CF3; X = Cl, SH, SPh), were synthesized and fully characterized. The structures of these complexes and the catalytic reactivity of the chloride complexes were investigated along with the related POCOP counterparts [2,6-(tBu2PO)2C6H3]NiX (X = Cl, SH). It was found that the composition and substitution of the pincer backbone evidently influence the structures and catalytic reactivity. The Ni-P and Ni-Cipso bond lengths in the PCN complexes are significantly shorter than those in the POCOP complex. The Ni-Cl and Ni-S bond lengths in the PCN complexes are longer than those in the POCOP complexes. An electron rich pyrindinyl ring in the PCN complexes makes the Ni-Cl bond longer. The Ni-N bond length is more sensitive to the auxiliary ligand compared with the Ni-P bond length in the PCN complexes. The PCN chloride complexes were found to be active catalysts for selective hydration of nitriles to primary amides in the presence of NaOH at 80 °C and the catalytic activity increases with the increase of electron richness of the pyridinyl ring. However, the corresponding POCOP counterpart is inactive under the same conditions.

Abstract
Pincer complexes play an important role in organometallic chemistry; in particular, their use as homogeneous catalysts for organic transformations has increased dramatically in recent years. The high catalytic activity of such bis-cyclometallic complexes is associated with the easy tunability of their properties. Moreover, the phosphorus-based unsymmetrical pincers showed higher catalytic activity than the corresponding symmetrical analogues in several catalytic reactions. However, in modern literature, an increasing interest in the development of catalysts based on non-precious metals is observed. For example, nickel, which is an affordable and sustainable analogue of platinum and palladium, known for its low toxicity, has attracted increasing attention in the catalytic chemistry of transition metals in recent years. Thus, this mini-review is devoted to the recent advances in the chemistry of unsymmetrical phosphorus-based pincer nickel complexes, including the ligand design, the synthesis of nickel complexes and their catalytic applications.

Abstract
A regioselective and enantioselective palladium-catalyzed relay Heck alkenylation of alkenylbenzene derivatives to construct remote stereocenters is disclosed. Various β-substituted styrenes were readily obtained in moderate yields with good to excellent levels of enantioselectivity. This strategy provides rapid access to enantioenriched δ, ε, ζ, and η-alkenyl aryl compounds from simple starting materials. Mechanistic studies suggest that termination of the relay reaction is controlled by affinity of the arene for the Pd complex during migration.

Abstract
Palladium pincer complexes, containing a monoanionic terdentate ligand composed of an anionic aryl carbon atom and two mutually compatible donor sites, have aroused considerable interest since their first reports in the late 1970s. The high stability of the Pd pincer complexes and particularly their high modularity make these species ideal candidates for catalysis. Furthermore, the nature of the meridional coordination of the pincer ligands, and along with this their ability to enforce a stereo-specific environment around the Pd center, provide a good opportunity for developing chiral Pd pincer catalysts. Thus, a broad variety of chiral Pd pincer complexes have been prepared by the introduction of various stereochemical centers in the pincer skeletons. These chiral Pd pincer complexes have been successfully applied to many asymmetric catalytic reactions such as hydrophosphination reactions, allylation of aldehydes and imines, Michael and aldol reactions, Suzuki-Miyaura reactions as well as reactions of nitrile compounds with imines. This review focuses on the synthetic methods and the applications of chiral Pd pincer complexes in asymmetric catalysis.

Abstract
Unsymmetrical pincers have been shown to be better than the corresponding symmetrical pincers in several catalysis reactions. A new unsymmetrical PNN propincer, 2-(3,5-dimethylpyrazolylmethyl)-5-(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrrole (1), was synthesized from pyrrole through Mannich bases in a good yield. In addition, the new byproduct 2-(3,5-dimethylpyrazolylmethyl)-5-(dimethylaminomethyl)- N-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrole was also isolated. The reaction of 1 with [PdCl2(PhCN)2] and Et3N in toluene yielded [PdCl{C4H2N-2-(CH2Me2pz)-5-(CH2PPh2)-κ3 P,N,N}] (2). The analogous reaction between 1 and [NiCl2(DME)] or NiX2 (X = Br, I) in the presence of NEt3 in acetonitrile afforded [NiX{C4H2N-2-(CH2Me2pz)-5-(CH2PPh2)-κ3 P,N,N}] (3; X = Cl, Br, I). All complexes were structurally characterized. The norbornene polymerization behaviors of the unsymmetrical pincer complexes 2 and 3 in the presence of MMAO or EtAlCl2 were compared with those of the symmetrical pincer complexes chloro[2,5-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazolylmethyl)pyrrolido]palladium(II) (NNN), chloro[2,5-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrrolido]palladium(II), and chloro[2,5-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrrolido]nickel(II) (PNP) at different temperatures. The PNN and NNN complexes exhibited far greater activity on the order of 107 g of PNB/mol/h, with quantitative yields in some cases, in comparison to the PNP pincer palladium and nickel complexes. This trend was also supported by the iPr group substituted PNP nickel and palladium pincer complexes. These polymerization behaviors are explained using steric crowding around the metal atom with the support of NMR studies and suggested that the activity increases as the Npyrazole donor increases. Polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, IR, TGA, and powder XRD methods.

Abstract
An efficient and recyclable palladium (II) catalyst supported on a double-structured amphiphilic polymer composite was reported previously containing a polymer hydrogel within macroporous polystyrene (PS) microspheres. However, some critical questions have been unaddressed. First, the catalyst accelerated the heterogeneous ligand-free batch Suzuki-Miyaura reaction in a H2O/EtOH mixture solution at room temperature in the presence of air, which could be ascribed to the "on-water" effect taking place at the interface of the aqueous-organic and basic-aqueous phases created by sodium carbonate in H2O/EtOH. To this acceleration, the double-structured amphiphilic polymer composite can also contribute by providing hydrogels inside the macroporous PS that served as a microreactor. This microreactor allowed the reactions to quickly proceed across the two immiscible (i.e. aqueous-organic and basic-aqueous) phases. Moreover, hydrogels containing hydroxyl groups can also serve as phase-transfer catalysts (PTC) to promote the Suzuki reaction. Second, the deactivated catalyst recovered its initial catalytic activity after overnight air exposure. This observation indicates the importance of oxygen in the activation/deactivation of Pd metals, as determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements which revealed different Pd oxidation states with various morphologies before and after Suzuki reactions.

Abstract
Metal-catalysed reactions are a fundamental tool in synthetic chemistry. Increasingly challenging transformations can be accomplished only by means of certain metal catalysts. However, there still remains the need for a substantial decrease of the amount of catalyst, for better reuse or recycling of such active species, and for the avoidance of relatively toxic solvents in favour of environmentally friendly media. These facts apply to copper-, palladium-, and nickel-catalysed cross-coupling reactions, direct arylations, and oxidative processes. This account summarises our research on the last reactions, featuring an evolution towards more sustainable procedures in this field.

Abstract
A series of two new Pd(II) complexes with ligand, HL, (z)-2-((quinolin-3-ylimino)methyl)phenol, derived from 3-aminoquinoline and 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde was reported. The structure of ligand, HL was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The ligand, HL crystallizes in the space group P21/n of the monoclinic system with unit cell dimensions a=8.8733(8), b=6.3318(5), c=11.5145(9). The reaction of ligand, HL with PdX2 [X=Cl(-), OAc] in 2:1molar ratio yielded complexes of the type [Pd(HL)2X2] [X=Cl(-), OAc]. The ligand, HL and its Pd(II) complexes were characterized by various physico-chemical techniques; elemental analyses, ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), UV/Vis, FT-IR, (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. UV/Vis absorption studies showed a square planar geometry around Pd (II) ion. The selective hydrogenation of (E)-1-methyl-4-(2-nitrovinyl)benzene in ethanol using synthesized Pd(II) complexes as catalysts was investigated at room temperature. The Pd(II) complexes catalyzed the hydrogenation of (E)-1-methyl-4-(2-nitrovinyl)benzene to (E)-1-methyl-4-(2-aminovinyl) benzene. Furthermore, the catalytic activity increased with increasing the quantity of Pd(II) complexes as catalysts.
