Abstract
Metal-ligand cooperative systems have a long precedent in catalysis, with the classification depending on the site of substrate bond cleavage and formation and on redox state changes. Recently, our group reported the participation of a β-diketiminate ligand in chemical bonding to heterocumulenes such as CO2 and CS2 by tricopper complexes, leading to cooperative catalysis. Herein, we report the reactivity of these copper clusters, [Cu3EL]- (E = S, Se; L = tris(β-diketiminate) cyclophane ligand), toward other electrophiles, viz. alkyl halides and Brønsted acids. We identified a family of ligand-functionalized complexes, Cu3EL (R) (R = primary alkyls), and a series of disubstituted products, Cu3EL (R)2, through single-crystal X-ray diffraction, mass spectrometry, and infrared and UV-visible spectroscopy. As part of mechanistic studies on these alkylation reactions, we evaluated the acid-base reactivity of these complexes and the influence of the backbone substitution on the reduction potential. Implications of these findings for ligand noninnocence and the relevance of the metal core as a cofactor for the ligand's reactivity are discussed.

Abstract
This article demonstrated the redox-noninnocent phenylene-linked bis(β-diketiminate) (L2-)-bridged first example of isomeric diruthenium(III)-acac species (acac = acetylacetonate) and its ability to activate dioxygen. The coordination of deprotonated L2- to the {Ru(acac)2} in bis(bidentate) mode led to isomeric {(acac)2RuIII}2(μ-L2-) (S = 1, 1-trans/1-cis, green). 1 displayed Ru(III)-based anisotropic EPR in CH3CN but without the resolution of the forbidden (ΔMs = 2) g1/2 signal at 77 K. 1-cis, however, slowly transformed to the energetically favored 1-trans form. 1 underwent two-step oxygenation at the Cβ sites of L2- to form the β-diketiminate/α-ketodiimine (L'-)-bridged mixed valent (acac)2RuIII(μ-L'-)RuII(acac)2 (2, S = 1/2, pink) followed by bis(α-ketodiimine) (L″)-bridged isovalent (acac)2RuII(μ-L″)RuII(acac)2 (3, S = 0, red). The role of O2 toward 1 → 2/3 was corroborated by 18O2 labeling experiment. Redox steps of 1-3 varied as a function of isomeric identity, bridge, and metal oxidation state. The calculated MOs and Mulliken spin densities attributed to the noninnocence of L2-, L'-, and L″ in the respective complexes. Spectrophotometric monitoring of 1 → 2 revealed pseudo-first-order rate constants (105k s-1) of 1.8 (303 K), 3.5 (313 K), 7.7 (323 K), and 17.0 (333 K) and ΔH⧧/ΔS⧧/ΔG⧧ of 14.3 kcal mol-1/-33.1 cal mol-1 K-1/24.2 kcal mol-1 (298 K), respectively. Moreover, characterization of the short-lived blue intermediate obtained during the conversion of 1 → 2/3 upon exposure to O2 supported its valence tautomeric form (VT1, RuIII-L2--RuIII ↔ RuIII-L•--RuII, S = 1), which in effect facilitated oxygen activation at the ligand backbone.

Abstract
Oxidative addition of cyclic alkyl(amino)carbene-coordinated phosphinidenes (Me cAAC)PX to LGa affords gallium-coordinated phosphinidenes LGa(X)-P(Me cAAC) (L=HC[C(Me)N(2,6-i-Pr2 C6 H3 )]2 ; X=Cl 1, Br 2), which react with NaBArF 4 and LiAl(ORF )4 to [LGaP(Me cAAC)][An] (An=B(C6 H3 (CF3 )2 )4 3, B(C6 F5 )4 4, Al(OC(CF3 )3 )4 5). The cations in 3-5 show substantial Ga-P double bond character and represent heteronuclear analogues of allyl cations according to quantum chemical calculations. The reaction of 4 with 4-dimethylaminopyridine (dmap) to adduct 6 confirms the strong electrophilic nature of the gallium center, whereas 5 reacts with ethyl isocyanate with C-C bond formation to the γ-C atom of the β-diketiminate ligand and formation of compound 7.

Abstract
Digallane [L1 Ga-GaL1 ] (1, L1 =dpp-bian=1,2-[(2,6-iPr2 C6 H3 )NC]2 C12 H6 ) reacts with RN=C=O (R=Ph or Tos) by [2+4] cycloaddition of the isocyanate C=N bonds across both of its C=C-N-Ga fragments to afford [L1 (O=C-NR)Ga-Ga(RN-C=O)L1 ] (R=Ph, 3; R=Tos, 4). The reactions with both isocyanates result in new C-C and N-Ga single bonds. In the case of allyl isocyanate, the [2+4] cycloaddition across one C=C-N-Ga fragment of 1 is accompanied by insertion of a second allyl isocyanate molecule into the Ga-N bond of the same fragment to afford compound [L1 Ga-Ga(AllN- C=O)2 L1 ] (5) (All=allyl). In the presence of Na metal, the related digallane [L2 Ga-GaL2 ] (2; L2 =dpp-dad=[(2,6-iPr2 C6 H3 )NC(CH3 )]2 ) is converted into the gallium(I) carbene analogue [L2 Ga:]- (2 A), which undergoes a variety of reactions with isocyanate substrates. These include the cycloaddition of ethyl isocyanate to 2 A affording [Na2 (THF)5 ]{L2 Ga[EtN-C(O)]2 GaL2 } (6), cleavage of the N=C bond with release of 1 equiv. of CO to give [Na(THF)2 ]2 [L2 Ga(p-MeC6 H4 )(N-C(O))2 -N(p-MeC6 H4 )]2 (7), cleavage of the C=O bond to yield the di-O-bridged digallium compound [Na(THF)3 ]2 [L2 Ga-(μ-O)2 -GaL2 ] (8), and generation of the further addition product [Na2 (THF)5 ][L2 Ga(CyNCO2 )]2 (9). Complexes 3-9 have been characterized by NMR (1 H, 13 C), IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Their electronic structures have been examined by DFT calculations.

Abstract
Presented here are complexes of two different fluorinated β-diketiminate (NacNac) ligands with cyclometalated platinum. Reaction of the cyclometalated platinum dimers [Pt(C^N)(μ-X)]2 [C^N = 2-phenylpyridine (ppy), 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine (F2ppy); X = Cl, Br] with lithium salts of backbone-fluorinated β-diketiminate ligands produces two structure types, depending on the temperature of the reaction. At milder temperatures (<80 °C), the major product is an unusual halide-bridged diplatinum complex, demonstrating a unique NacNac binding mode bridging the two platinum centers. At higher temperatures (>100 °C), the major species is a monoplatinum complex of the type Pt(C^N)(NacNac). The complexes display reduction waves in their cyclic voltammograms at mild potentials, as well as intense visible absorption bands (λ > 500 nm), that depend minimally on the identity of the C^N ligand or, in the case of the bimetallic complexes, the identity of the bridging halide. In addition, the monoplatinum complexes exhibit structured luminescence in the red and near-infrared regions deriving a NacNac-centered triplet state. All of these observations suggest that the NacNac π system contributes substantially to the frontier orbitals and motivates continued exploration of fluorinated β-diketiminate ligands in the design of complexes with desirable ligand-based redox and optical properties.

Abstract
The dinuclear Me(2)Pt(II) complexes of 3,4-bis(quinolin-8-yl)thiophene (1a), 3,4-bis(6 trifluoromethoxyquinolin-8-yl)thiophene (1b), and 3,4-bis(2-methylquinolin-8-yl)thiophene (1c) react with MeOTf (OTf = trifluoromethanesulfonate) to afford the corresponding chiral mononuclear five-coordinate Me(3)Pt(IV) complexes [PtMe(3)(1a)]OTf (3a), [PtMe(3)(1b)]OTf (3b), and [PtMe(3)(1c)]OTf (3c), respectively. [PtMe(3)(1c)]BAr(F)(4) (3d) (where BAr(F)(4) = [B{C(6)H(3)-3,5-(CF(3))(2)}(4)]) has also been synthesized for structural study. While 3a appears to be symmetric in solution and asymmetric in solid state, 3c and 3d are asymmetric in both solution and solid state. The chirality originates from interligand repulsion, rather than any unsymmetrical ligand. Variable-temperature NMR and computational studies suggest a ligand-twisting isomerization pathway for the interconversion of the enantiomers, rather than the rotational exchange of three CH(3) ligands on the metal center.
