Abstract
Research on "post-metallocene" polymerization catalysis ranges methodologically from fundamental mechanistic studies of polymerization reactions over catalyst design to material properties of the polyolefins prepared. A common goal of these studies is the creation of practically useful new polyolefin materials or polymerization processes. This Review gives a comprehensive overview of post-metallocene polymerization catalysts that have been put into practice. The decisive properties for this success of a given catalyst structure are delineated.

Abstract
A convenient and efficient three-step route toward both symmetrically and asymmetrically functionalized 4H-cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophenes has been developed. Using this method a broad collection of functionalized bridged bithiophenes can smoothly be accessed. Starting from 3-bromo-2,2'-bithiophene, prepared by Kumada coupling of 2-thienylmagnesium bromide with 2,3-dibromothiophene under Pd(dppf)Cl(2) catalysis, lithiation and subsequent reaction with dialkyl ketones afforded (a)symmetrically dialkylated tertiary alcohol derivatives. By means of final Friedel-Crafts dehydration cyclization in sulfuric acid medium, these derivatives were converted to 4,4-dialkyl-4H-cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophenes. Upon replacement of the dialkyl ketone reagent by ethyl levulinate, an ester-functionalized 4H-cyclopenta[2,1-b:3,4-b']dithiophene was prepared, representing an attractive precursor for variously functionalized cyclopentadithiophene compounds.

Abstract
Directed ortho-lithiation of the lithium carbamates generated from tetrahydroquinoline or tetrahydroquinaldine enables one-step preparation of thiophene-fused and tetrahydroquinoline-linked cyclopentadienes [2-R(1)-3-R(2)-4,5-dimethyl-6-(2-R(3)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydroquinolin-8-yl)-4H-cyclopenta[b]thiophene (R(1), R(2), R(3) = H or methyl)], from which titanium(iv) and zirconium(iv) complexes are prepared. The molecular structures of Me(2)Ti-complexes (12, R(1) = R(2) = Me, R(3) = H; 14, R(1) = R(2) = R(3) = Me) and Cl(2)Zr-complex (17, R(1) = R(2) = Me, R(3) = H) are determined by X-ray crystallography. The Me(2)Ti-complexes, 14 and 15 (R(1) = R(3) = Me, R(2) = H) show excellent activities (62 and 54 × 10(6) g/molTi·h) in ethylene/1-octene copolymerization, even when activated with small amount of MAO (Al/Ti = 1000).
