Abstract
The catalytic bis-allylation of alkynes is an important but challenging protocol to construct all-carbon tetra-substituted alkenes. Particularly, the catalytic unsymmetrical bis-allylation of alkynes remains as an underexplored task to date. We herein report an unprecedented unsymmetrical bis-allylation by simultaneously utilizing electrophilic trifluoromethyl alkene and nucleophilic allylboronate as the allylic reagents. With the aid of robust Ni0 /NHC catalysis, valuable skipped trienes can be obtained in high regio- and stereo-selectivities under mild conditions. Mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction may proceed through a β-fluorine elimination of a nickelacycle followed by a transmetalation step with allylboronate. The present method exhibits a good tolerance of various functional groups. Besides, the skipped triene products can undergo an array of elaborate transformations, which highlights the potential applications of this strategy.

Abstract
The direct formation of (hetero)biaryls from readily available (hetero)aryl halides under mild reaction conditions can be efficiently achieved through the Masuda borylation–Suzuki coupling (MBSC) sequence. The MBSC sequence catenates Pd-catalyzed Masuda borylation and Suzuki coupling into a one-pot process, giving access to diverse symmetrically and unsymmetrically substituted scaffolds. (Hetero)biaryls are ubiquitous structural motifs that appear in natural products, pharmaceutically relevant scaffolds, functional dyes, and several other structures. This review summarizes the development of the MBSC sequence and its improvements over the past two decades.

Abstract
A rapid synthesis of aminoboranes from amine-boranes utilizing an iodination/dehydroiodination sequence is described. Monomeric aminoboranes are generated exclusively from several substrate adducts, following an E2-type elimination, with the added base playing a critical role in monomer vs dimer formation. Diisopropylaminoborane formed using this methodology has been applied to a one-pot palladium-catalyzed conversion of iodo- and bromoarenes to the corresponding boronates. Additionally, modification of the workup allows for isolation of the boronic acid and recovery of the utilized amine.

Abstract
While the formation and breaking of transition metal (TM)-carbon bonds plays a pivotal role in the catalysis of organic compounds, the reactivity of inorganometallic species, that is, those involving the transition metal (TM)-metalloid (E) bond, is of key importance in most conversions of metalloid derivatives catalyzed by TM complexes. This Review presents the background of inorganometallic catalysis and its development over the last 15 years. The results of mechanistic studies presented in the Review are related to the occurrence of TM-E and TM-H compounds as reactive intermediates in the catalytic transformations of selected metalloids (E = B, Si, Ge, Sn, As, Sb, or Te). The Review illustrates the significance of inorganometallics in catalysis of the following processes: addition of metalloid-hydrogen and metalloid-metalloid bonds to unsaturated compounds; activation and functionalization of C-H bonds and C-X bonds with hydrometalloids and bismetalloids; activation and functionalization of C-H bonds with vinylmetalloids, metalloid halides, and sulfonates; and dehydrocoupling of hydrometalloids. This first Review on inorganometallic catalysis sums up the developments in the catalytic methods for the synthesis of organometalloid compounds and their applications in advanced organic synthesis as a part of tandem reactions.

Abstract
Compared with the well-developed centrally chiral boron chemistry, C-B axially chiral chemistry remains elusive and challenging. Herein we report the first atroposelective Miyaura borylation of bromoarenes with unsymmetrical diboron reagents for the direct catalytic synthesis of optically active atropisomeric arylborons. This reaction features broad substrate scope and produces axially chiral arylborons with high yields and good enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Aryl boronic acids and esters are important building blocks in API synthesis. The palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura borylation is the most common method for their preparation. This paper describes an improvement of the current reaction conditions. By using lipophilic bases such as potassium 2-ethyl hexanoate, the borylation reaction could be achieved at 35 °C in less than 2 h with very low palladium loading (0.5 mol %). A preliminary mechanistic study shows a hitherto unrecognized inhibitory effect by the carboxylate anion on the catalytic cycle, whereas 2-ethyl hexanoate minimizes this inhibitory effect. This improved methodology enables borylation of a wide range of substrates under mild conditions.

Abstract
A computational mechanistic study has been performed on Pd(II)-catalyzed enantioselective reactions involving acetyl-protected aminomethyl oxazolines (APAO) ligands that significantly improved reactivity and selectivity in C(sp3)-H borylation. The results support a mechanism including initiation of C(sp3)-H bond activation generating a five-membered palladacycle and ligand exchange, followed by HPO42--promoted transmetalation. These resulting Pd(II) complexes further undergo sequential reductive elimination by coordination of APAO ligands and protonation to afford the enantiomeric products and deliver Pd(0) complexes, which will then proceed by oxidation and deprotonation to regenerate the catalyst. The C(sp3)-H activation is found to be the rate- and enantioselectivity-determining step, in which the APAO ligand acts as the proton acceptor to form the two enantioselectivity models. The results demonstrate that the diverse APAO ligands control the enantioselectivity by differentiating the distortion and interaction between the major and minor pathways.

Abstract
3-(Hetero)aryl substituted 7-azaindoles possessing multikinase inhibitor activity are readily accessed in a one-pot Masuda borylation-Suzuki coupling sequence. Several promising derivatives were identified as apoptosis inducers and, emphasizing the multikinase inhibition potential, as sphingosine kinase 2 inhibitors. Our measurements provide additional insights into the structure-activity relationship of meriolin derivatives, suggesting derivatives bearing a pyridine moiety with amino groups in 2-position as most active anticancer compounds and thus as highly promising candidates for future in vivo studies.

Three polymeric versions of ansa-N,N-dialkylammoniumtrifluoroborate ambiphilic molecules based on the styrene motif (poly(1-NMe2H+-2-BF3--4-styrene) (P-Me), poly(1-NEt2H+-2-BF3--4-styrene) (P-Et) and poly(1-piperidinyl-H+-2-BF3--4-styrene) (P-Pip)) were synthesized, characterized and tested as heterogeneous pre-catalysts for the borylation of electron-rich heteroarenes. These heterogeneous versions of previously reported pre-catalysts show similar reactivity patterns and represent the first examples of solid-supported FLP metal-free catalysts for the C-H borylation of heteroarenes.

Abstract
A multilayer film of (Pd(2+)/)10 was simply fabricated by Pd(ii) and 2-Br-2',7,7'-tri(4-pyridyl)-9,9'-spirobifluorene (, Br-tpsf) through a layer-by-layer self-assembly method. The film loaded on a quartz slide as a catalyst reservoir could gradually release high active catalytic species to promote Sonogashira, Heck and Suzuki cross-coupling reactions, with extremely low Pd-loading of 11.0 × 10(-6) mol% and high catalytic efficiency in EtOH-H2O system.

Abstract
The synthesis of arylboronic ester derivatives from aryl chlorides by using aryl(amino)boranes is described. Palladium-catalyzed coupling between aryl chlorides and diisopropylaminoborane leads to the formation of a CB bond under mild conditions. A wide range of functional groups are tolerated, making this method particularly useful for the borylation of functionalized aromatics.

Abstract
A series of novel and diverse diaryl[d,f][1,3]diazepines were designed and synthesized to expand the pharmaceutical utility of the [6,7]bicyclic molecular skeletons. The facile synthesis involved two key steps: a one-pot Suzuki coupling to construct the bi-aryl intermediates from corresponding halides, and a ring closure by direct condensation with carboxylic acids.

Abstract
This study describes the application of indolylphosphine ligands with a diphenylphosphino moiety to the palladium-catalyzed borylation of aryl chlorides. The combination of palladium metal precursor with PPh(2)-Andole-phos, which comprises an inexpensive -PPh(2) group, provides highly effective catalysts for the borylation of aryl chlorides. A range of functional groups such as -CN, -NO(2), -CHO, -COMe, -COOMe, and -CF(3) was compatible, and the catalyst loading down to 0.025 mol % of Pd can be achieved. The Pd/PPh(2)-Andole-phos system is able to catalyze both borylation reaction and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction in a one-pot sequential manner for the direct synthesis of biaryl compounds in excellent yields.

Abstract
Ni-catalyzed cross-coupling of unactivated secondary alkyl halides with alkylboranes provides an efficient way to construct alkyl-alkyl bonds. The mechanism of this reaction with the Ni/L1 (L1=trans-N,N'-dimethyl-1,2-cyclohexanediamine) system was examined for the first time by using theoretical calculations. The feasible mechanism was found to involve a Ni(I)-Ni(III) catalytic cycle with three main steps: transmetalation of [Ni(I)(L1)X] (X=Cl, Br) with 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (9-BBN)R(1) to produce [Ni(I)(L1)(R(1))], oxidative addition of R(2) X with [Ni(I)(L1)(R(1))] to produce [Ni(III)(L1)(R(1))(R(2))X] through a radical pathway, and C-C reductive elimination to generate the product and [Ni(I)(L1)X]. The transmetalation step is rate-determining for both primary and secondary alkyl bromides. KOiBu decreases the activation barrier of the transmetalation step by forming a potassium alkyl boronate salt with alkyl borane. Tertiary alkyl halides are not reactive because the activation barrier of reductive elimination is too high (+34.7 kcal mol(-1)). On the other hand, the cross-coupling of alkyl chlorides can be catalyzed by Ni/L2 (L2=trans-N,N'-dimethyl-1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-diamine) because the activation barrier of transmetalation with L2 is lower than that with L1. Importantly, the Ni(0)-Ni(II) catalytic cycle is not favored in the present systems because reductive elimination from both singlet and triplet [Ni(II)(L1)(R(1))(R(2))] is very difficult.
