Abstract
PURPOSE To compare the patterns of retinal microvasculature change in the peripapillary and macular region between compressive optic neuropathy (CON) and glaucomatous optic neuropathy (GON), and to assess the ability of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in differentiating the two conditions. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 108 participants (108 eyes), 36 with CON, 36 with GON, and 36 healthy controls. The CON and GON eyes were matched by the average peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) thickness (1:1). Optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCTA were performed to compare the structural and vascular change of the peripapillary and macular region between groups. RESULTS Both CON and GON eyes showed more severe structural and vascular damage than the control eyes. The CON eyes had lower pRNFL thickness than the GON eyes in the temporal and nasal quadrants, and thicker pRNFL thickness in the inferior quadrant. The average GCC thickness did not differ between the two groups. The peripapillary vessel density of the CON group was significantly higher in the inferior sectors than that of the GON group. In the macular region, the CON group had significantly higher vessel density in the whole image, the temporal sector in parafovea region, and the temporal, superior, and inferior sectors in perifovea region. CONCLUSION To a similar degree of structural damage, CON had less retinal vascular impairment than GON, especially in the macular region, and the significance of the finding needs further evaluation.

Corneal Tonometric and Morphological Changes in Patients with Acromegaly. J Clin Med 2022; 11:jcm11226750. Abstract
(1) Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the changes in Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) parameters, corneal endothelium parameters, central corneal thickness (CCT), and intraocular pressure (IOP) before and after the transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenoma in patients with acromegaly. (2) Methods: This was a single-center, prospective, interventional study. Twenty patients with newly diagnosed acromegaly were examined before and 19 ± 9 months after transsphenoidal resection. The participants underwent a comprehensive ophthalmological examination including pneumatic IOP (IOP air puff), Goldmann applanation tonometry (IOP GAT), CCT measured using the iPac pachymeter (CCTUP), IOP value corrected for CCTUP using the Ehlers formula (IOPc) ORA measurements included corneal hysteresis (CH), corneal resistance factor (CRF), corneal-compensated IOP (IOPcc), and Goldmann-correlated IOP (IOPg). CCT from non-contact specular microscopy (CCTNSM), the number of endothelial cells (CD) per mm2, and average cell size (AVG) were determined with non-contact specular microscopy. (3) Results: A statistically significant decrease was observed in CCTUP (p = 0.007), and IOP air puff (p = 0.012) after surgery. Moreover, we noted a statistically significant increase in CD (p = 0.001), and a statistically significant decrease in AVG (p = 0.009) and CCTNSM (p = 0.004) after surgery. A statistically significant decrease was also observed in IOPg (p = 0.011), CH (p = 0.016), and CRF (p = 0.001) after surgery. The mean value of IOP GAT and IOPc was lower after the surgery. However, the difference was not statistically significant. (4) Conclusions: Our study revealed significant changes in biomechanics, corneal endothelium, CCT and IOP after pituitary adenoma resection in patients with acromegaly. It proves that the eye might be sensitive to long-term overexposure to growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). We suggest that disease activity be taken into consideration on ophthalmological examination.

Abstract
Purpose To compare the difference in anterior segment biometrics derived from anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) between treatment-naïve acromegaly patients and normal controls and evaluate the correlations between above biometrics and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and growth hormone (GH) levels. Methods Sixty eyes of 30 acromegaly patients and 60 eyes of 30 normal controls were included in this case-control study. Central corneal thickness, pupil diameter, iris thickness (IT), iris curvature (IC), anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber width, lens vault (LV), angle open distance (AOD) 500, AOD750, and trabecular iris space area (TISA) 500 and TISA750 were measured by AS-OCT. General linear regression models were constructed to evaluate the independent endocrine factors affecting iris morphology and anterior chamber angle (ACA) width. Results The acromegaly patients had an evenly thicker iris (P < 0.001), a smaller IC (P < 0.05), a smaller LV (P = 0.040) and significantly larger AOD500, AOD750, TISA500 and TISA750 (P < 0.001). There was a positive correlation between the serum GH level and ACD in the acromegaly patients (P = 0.031). Linear regression models showed the lower LV and smaller IC were independent influencing factors of the increase in the AOD500, AOD750, and TISA750 and nasal TISA500. Serum IGF-1 was an independent factor for the increase in pupil diameter (β = 0.002, P = 0.031) and both the average nasal (β = 6.781*10−5, P = 0.049) and temporal (β = 7.736*10−5, P = 0.045) IT values and for the decrease in temporal IC (β < 0.001, P = 0.037). GH was an independent factor for the increase in temporal AOD750 (β = 0.001, P = 0.030) and temporal TISA750 (β = 0.002, P = 0.016). Conclusions Patients with acromegaly have a thicker IT, smaller IC, and lower LV with a wider ACA than normal controls. Serum GH is independently correlated with the temporal ACA width, whereas serum IGF-1 is independently correlated with IT, pupil diameter, and IC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Using OCTA, investigate the capillary network and retinal layers in granulomatosis with ANCA associated vasculitis (AAV) patients who did not manifest apparent ocular involvement and compare the findings with healthy subjects. METHOD The present study, which is designed as a prospective and case-control study, includes 22 AAV patients and 35 control participants. OCTA parameters were noted. RESULTS In most of the regions, AMT, RNFL and GC-IPL thicknesses were significantly lower in the AAV group than in the control group. While the vascular indices were lower in the AAV group, except for the center 1 mm region, the FAZ parameters were similar between the two groups. CONCLUSION In AAV patients, subclinical changes in the retinal layers and superficial vascular plexus have been shown. In the future maybe a non-invasive method such as OCTA will become available in scoring systems for prognosis determination in AAV.

Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) parameters in a healthy population and to detect any changes that occur with age. Methods: A total of 100 healthy participants were included in this prospective, observational, and comparative study. The participants were categorized in 4 groups according to age: Group 1: 21-30 years, Group 2: 31-40 years, Group 3: 41-50 years, Group 4: 51-60 years of age. Mean macular thickness, retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL), ganglion cell inner plexiform layer (GC-IPL), and the choroidal thickness (ChT), vessel density (VD), perfusion density (PD), foveal avascular zone (FAZ), and parapapillary perfusion density parameters were recorded and analyzed. Results: In comparisons between groups, no significant difference in OCTA parameters was observed. There were inverse correlations between the outer VD, PD, and intraocular pressure (IOP) (r= -0.307, p=0.006 and r= -0.284, p=0.011, respectively). The correlation between parapapillary perfusion density and IOP was close to being significant (r= -0.213, p=0.059). There were significant relationships between OCTA parameters and macular, RNFL, and GC-IPL thickness. No significant relationship between ChT and OCTA parameters was seen. Conclusion: The size and characteristics of superficial VD, PD, parapapillary perfusion density, and FAZ were determined in a population with standardized demographic and ocular clinical features, and the relationship between these parameters and retinal layers was established.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate the radial peripapillary capillary (RPC) and the optic nerve head (ONH) perfusion of patients with acromegaly using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). METHODS Twenty-four eyes of 24 acromegaly patients comprised the study group and 24 eyes of 24 healthy individuals were used as a control group. The ONH and RPC vascular density (VD) was measured for each patient using OCTA. The insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels were also recorded and compared. RESULTS The VD of the inferior nasal ONH and nasal RPC was significantly lower in the acromegaly group than in the control group (p=0.047 and p=0.001, respectively). There was a significant negative correlation between the VD of the superior nasal ONH and the IGF-1 level (r=-0.283, p=0.038). CONCLUSION The ONH and RPC VD values measured using OCTA were segmentally different in the acromegaly group compared with those of the control group. This method of non-invasive quantitative analysis of retinal perfusion using OCTA may be useful for future studies involving patients with acromegaly.

Abstract
AIM We aimed to investigate the retinal layers and macular capillary structure using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) with acromegaly patients and determine the relationship between OCTA parameters and disease duration, Growth hormone (GH) and Insuline growth factor (IGF - 1) levels. PATIENTS AND METHOD Twenty-two patients with acromegaly who were followed up in the endocrinology outpatient clinic of Sisli Hamidiye Etfal Health Training and Research Hospital, were recruited into the study. Healthy control group was consisted of 22 age and gender matched subjects. Complete opthalmological examination including best visual acuity (BCVA), axial lenght, intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement, anterior segment and fundus examination, central corneal thickness with pachymetry and OCTA measurement were performed in the patients and healthy control group. Foveal avascular zone (FAZ), foveal vascular density (FVD), parafoveal vascular density (PFVD), choroidal flow (CF), foveal thickness (FT) and choroidal thickness (CT) were compared beetwen groups. Correlation between disease duration, GH and IGF-1 levels and OCTA parameters were evaluated. RESULTS There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of BCVA, axial length, IOP, FT, FAZ, FD and PFVD. Choroidal thickness and CF was significantly high in the patients group compared to healthy controls (respectively, p = 0.003, p = 0.022). The mean follow-up period in patients with acromegaly was 90±50.2 months. There was a significant correlation between GH and subfoveal choroidal thickness in the patient group (p < 0.001, r = 0.52), a significant correlation was determined between disease duration and corneal thickness (p = 0.01, r = 0.41). In addition, an inverse correlation was detected between the IGF-1 level and the FAZ domain (p = 0.022, r= -0.34). CONCLUSION In patients with acromegaly, choroidal vasculature seems to be more affected than the retinal vasculature.

Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study is to analyze axial length, body height, hand length, and foot length to find new factors that predict myopia and to identify gender differences as one of the factors of high myopia. A cross-sectional study was conducted as a single observation. Body height, hand length, and foot length were measured according to standard anthropometric methods. Axial length, retinal thickness, and choroidal thickness were measured using the IOL Master 700 and the Heidelberg Spectralis-OCT. To account for body height differences among participants, foot length/body height and hand length/body height were analyzed using a mixed-effects model. Results A total of 80 eyes (men, n = 20, 40 eyes; women, n = 20, 40 eyes) were analyzed. The mean age was 33.5 years (range 21–59 years, SD: 9.6). For choroidal thickness, there was a significant association with axial length in men (p < 0.001) and a trend toward an association in women (p = 0.072). There was also a significant association between foot length/body height and axial length in men (p = 0.015), but not in women (p = 0.58). These results suggest that factors that determine body height and foot length may be related to axial length, although they vary by gender.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed to evaluate the retinal blood vessel parameters and the foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in patients with acromegaly in comparison with healthy controls. METHODS A total of 45 patients with acromegaly and 45 healthy controls were included in this study. In all patients, the vessel density (VD) of the deep and superficial macular vascular networks and the foveal avascular zone (FAZ) were measured using OCTA. The correlation of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) level and disease duration with deep macular VD and FAZ values was analyzed. All parameters were registered. Results were assessed and compared between the two groups. RESULTS Deep macular plexus VD values were lower in patients with acromegaly compared to the control group. No significant differences in VD values in the superficial segment, except for that in the inferior parafovea (P = .01) were found between the two groups. Furthermore, patients with acromegaly showed enlargement in the superficial (P = .30) and deep FAZ areas (P < .001). IGF-1 level and disease duration showed a significant negative correlation with the deep whole image (R = -0.216, P = .041, R = -0.339, P = .001, respectively), deep parafovea (R = -0.271, P = .01; R = -0.372, P < .001, respectively), deep parafovea superior hemi (R = -0.342, P = .001; R = -0.350, P = .001, respectively), deep parafovea temporal (R = -0.224, P = .034; R = -0.234, P = .026, respectively), deep parafovea nasal (R = -0.320, P = .002; R = -0.361, P < .001, respectively), and deep parafovea superior VD values (R = -0.293, P = .005; R = -0.307, P = .003, respectively) and a significant positive correlation with the deep FAZ area values (R = 0.244, P = .02; R = 0.329, P = .002, respectively). CONCLUSION VD values in the deep macular capillary plexus were lower in patients with acromegaly, and the superficial and deep FAZ area enlarged. Patients with acromegaly may have an increased risk of developing ocular vascular complications. OCTA can be used to evaluate retinal blood VD in patients with acromegaly.
