Measurement-Based Quantum Correlations for Quantum Information Processing

Quantum correlation of microwave two-mode squeezed state generated by nonlinearity of InP HEMT

This study significantly concentrates on cryogenic InP HEMT high-frequency circuit analysis using quantum theory to find how the transistor nonlinearity can affect the quantum correlation of the modes generated. Firstly, the total Hamiltonian of the circuit is derived, and the dynamic equation of the motion contributed is examined using the Heisenberg-Langevin equation. Using the nonlinear Hamiltonian, some components are attached to the intrinsic internal circuit of InP HEMT to address the circuit characteristics fully. The components attached are arisen due to the nonlinearity effects. As a result, the theoretical calculations show that the states generated in the circuit are mixed, and no pure state is produced. Accordingly, the modified circuit generates the two-mode squeezed thermal state, which means one can focus on calculating the Gaussian quantum discord to evaluate quantum correlation. It is also found that the nonlinearity factors (addressed as the nonlinear components in the circuit) can intensely influence the squeezed thermal state by which the quantum discord is changed. Finally, as the primary point, it is concluded that although it is possible to enhance the quantum correlation between modes by engineering the nonlinear components; however, attaining quantum discord greater than unity, entangled microwave photons, seems a challenging task since InP HEMT operates at 4.2 K.

Experimental quantum state discrimination using the optimal fixed rate of inconclusive outcomes strategy

The problem of non-orthogonal state discrimination underlies crucial quantum information tasks, such as cryptography and computing protocols. Therefore, it is decisive to find optimal scenarios for discrimination among quantum states. We experimentally investigate the strategy for the optimal discrimination of two non-orthogonal states considering a fixed rate of inconclusive outcomes (FRIO). The main advantage of the FRIO strategy is to interpolate between unambiguous and minimum error discrimination by solely adjusting the rate of inconclusive outcomes. We present a versatile experimental scheme that performs the optimal FRIO measurement for any pair of generated non-orthogonal states with arbitrary a priori probabilities and any fixed rate of inconclusive outcomes. Considering different values of the free parameters in the FRIO protocol, we implement it upon qubit states encoded in the polarization mode of single photons generated in the spontaneous parametric down-conversion process. Moreover, we resort to a newfangled double-path Sagnac interferometer to perform a three-outcome non-projective measurement required for the discrimination task, showing excellent agreement with the theoretical prediction. This experiment provides a practical toolbox for a wide range of quantum state discrimination strategies using the FRIO scheme, which can significantly benefit quantum information applications and fundamental studies in quantum theory.

Long-time protection of thermal correlations in a hybrid-spin system under random telegraph noise

The engineering features of transmitting mediums and their impact on different characteristics of a quantum system play a significant role in the efficient performance of nonlocal protocols. For this purpose, the dynamics of open quantum systems and coupling mediums remain a pathway. In this work, we investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations using negativity, uncertainty-induced nonlocality, and local quantum Fisher information in a hybrid qubit-qutrit thermal state when coupled with a magnetic field and influenced by random telegraph noise. Different features of the system parameters are taken into account while designing longer preservation of qubit-qutrit correlations. We show that the temperature has an inverse impact on the initial values of negativity, uncertainty-induced nonlocality, and local quantum Fisher information. When the magnetic field is characterized by different features, the entanglement, nonlocality, and Fisher information show a variety of dynamical maps, assuring their distinct nature. In addition, the qubit-qutrit correlations undergo repeated revivals when the configuration is restricted to the non-Markovian regime. On the other hand, an exponential drop with a single minimum is observed in the Markovian regime of the coupled field. Most importantly, our findings reveal that the present coupled fields have several advantages that can be leveraged to generate the optimal degree of entanglement, nonlocality, and local quantum Fisher information preservation in quantum dynamical maps.
