Abstract
Background Life satisfaction (LS) serves as a crucial indicator of social wellbeing and plays a significant role in formulating strategies aimed at enhancing health outcomes among the hearing-disabled population. This study aimed to examine the effect of anxiety, depression, and structural social capital on life satisfaction among people with hearing disabilities in Shanghai, China. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in Shanghai, China. As of March 2022, 337 people with hearing disabilities were recruited from the Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation. An online survey was conducted using a four-part questionnaire to collect data including demographic characteristics, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), the Social Capital Scale (SCS), and a single-item question to measure life satisfaction. One-sample t-tests, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis were performed. Results Anxiety (β = - 0.153) and depression (β = - 0.242) were significant factors influencing life satisfaction among people with hearing disabilities. Structural social capital also played an influential role in life satisfaction, and people with hearing disabilities who lack social networks (β = 0.125) and social support (β = 0.121) reported significantly lower levels of life satisfaction. However, no significant relationship was found in this study between LS and other components of structural social capital, such as social participation. Conclusion This study shows that paying attention to mental health is critical for people with hearing disabilities to achieve social wellbeing and promote LS improvement. At the same time, the government and society also need to focus on the structural social capital, provide various social service programs, enhance social support, and expand social networks, improving LS for people with hearing disabilities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Physical activity plays an important role in the recovery of breast cancer survivors. However, previous studies have shown that most breast cancer survivors have inadequate levels of physical activity. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to explore the influencing factors of physical activity in breast cancer survivors. METHODS Twelve participants aged 38 to 65 years who had completed surgery and related treatment for breast cancer were recruited from the outpatient service of a hospital in Daqing, China. The phenomenological method was used in this qualitative research. Semistructured interviews were conducted to explore the influencing factors of physical activity in breast cancer survivors. Colaizzi's 7-step analysis method was used to code the data and identify descriptive themes. RESULTS Four themes affecting the daily physical activity of breast cancer patients were extracted: perception and motivation (knowledge about benefits, goals, and motivation for physical activity), symptom burden (psychological and physical symptoms), social support (support from oncology staff, family, and peers) and environmental resources (seasonal impact, community resources). CONCLUSION The physical activity of breast cancer survivors is affected by many factors. Oncology providers need to strengthen assessment, identify barriers, and provide interventions to promote the patients' participation in physical activity and to improve their quality of life. IMPLICATION FOR PRACTICE It is necessary for providers to integrate medical and social support resources, use strategies to enhance motivation, and effectively solve barriers to increase physical activity in breast cancer survivors.

Abstract
BackgroundA diagnosis of breast cancer generates psychological stress, due not only to treatment and its side effects but also to the impact on different areas of the patient’s daily life. Although there are instruments for measuring psychological stress in the cancer context, there is currently no tool for assessing stressors specific to breast cancer.AimsThe aim of this study was to develop the Stressors in Breast Cancer Scale (SBCS).MethodA panel of experts evaluated the clarity and relevance of scale items, providing validity evidence based on test content. Psychometric properties of the scale were then analyzed.ResultsValidity evidence based on the internal structure of the SBCS was obtained through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), following a cross-validation strategy. The CFA supported a second-order factor model with five dimensions: physical appearance and sex strains, health and daily difficulties, interpersonal relationship strains, healthcare strains, and worries and concerns about the future. This structure was invariant across two groups distinguished by time from cancer diagnosis (less than 3 and 3 years or more from diagnosis). Reliability, based on McDonald’s omega and Cronbach’s alpha coefficients, ranged from 0.83 to 0.89 for factor scores, and reached 0.95 for total scores. Validity evidence was also provided by correlations with depression, anxiety, perceived stress, and perceived health and quality of life.DiscussionThe results support the use of the SBCS for measuring stress as a stimulus in the breast cancer context. Implications for clinical practice and research are discussed.

Abstract
Cancer continues to be a significant global health issue. Traditional genetic-based approaches to understanding and treating cancer have had limited success. Researchers are increasingly exploring the impact of the environment, specifically inflammation and metabolism, on cancer development. Examining the role of mitochondria in this context is crucial for understanding the connections between metabolic health, physical activity, and cancer. This study aimed to review the literature on this topic through a comprehensive narrative review of various databases including MedLine (PubMed), Cochrane (Wiley), Embase, PsychINFO, and CinAhl. The review highlighted the importance of mitochondrial function in overall health and in regulating key events in cancer development, such as apoptosis. The concept of "mitochondrial fitness" emphasizes the crucial role of mitochondria in cell metabolism, particularly their oxidative functions, and how proper function can prevent replication errors and regulate apoptosis. Engaging in high-energy-demanding movement, such as exercise, is a powerful intervention for improving mitochondrial function and increasing resistance to environmental stressors. These findings support the significance of considering the role of the environment, specifically inflammation and metabolism, in cancer development and treatment. Further research is required to fully understand the mechanisms by which physical activity improves mitochondrial function and potentially reduces the risk of cancer.

Abstract
We assessed the effects of chewing behavior on the lung-metastasis-promoting impact of chronic psychological-stress in mice. Human breast-cancer cells (MDA-MB-231) were injected into the tail vein of female nude mice. Mice were randomly divided into stress, stress-with-chewing, and control groups. We created chronic stress by placing mice in small transparent tubes for 45 min, 3 times a day for 7 weeks. Mice in the stress-with-chewing group were allowed to chew wooden sticks during the experimental period. The histopathological examination showed that chronic psychological-stress increased lung metastasis, and chewing behavior attenuated the stress-related lung metastasis of breast-cancer cells. Chewing behavior decreased the elevated level of the serum corticosterone, normalized the increased expression of glucocorticoid, and attenuated the elevated expression of adrenergic receptors in lung tissues. We also found that chewing behavior normalized the elevated expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase, 4-hydroxynonenal, and superoxide dismutase 2 in lung tissues, induced by chronic stress. The present study demonstrated that chewing behavior could attenuate the promoting effects of chronic psychological-stress on the lung metastasis of breast-cancer cells, by regulating stress hormones and their receptors, and the downstream signaling-molecules, involving angiogenesis and oxidative stress.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this study to explore experiences of patients and carers of the pathway to diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer (HNC), focusing on differences based on remoteness of residence. METHODS Patients ≥6 months post-treatment completion, and their carers, were recruited. Semi-structured interviews, guided by the Model of Pathways to Treatment as the theoretical framework, were conducted to examine pathways to treatment of HNC and facilitators and barriers to early diagnosis and treatment. Thematic analysis with an iterative and data-driven approach was used to identify themes. RESULTS A total of 39 patients and 17 carers participated in the interviews. Facilitators of timely diagnosis and treatment included a sense of urgency from health care professionals (HCPs), advocacy by the HCP or carers, and leveraging social capital. Distance to services, financial costs, and a perceived lack of emotional investment by HCPs arose as barriers to timely diagnosis and treatment. Participants were often able to rationalise that not all delays were negative, depending causes and expected impact on cancer management. CONCLUSION The findings highlight the complex nature of factors facilitating and impeding early HNC diagnosis and treatment that may be targeted in interventions to support patients and meet important benchmarks for high-quality cancer care.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the association between types and numbers of comorbidities and stigma among breast cancer survivors (BCSs). A cross-sectional study was conducted among 937 BCSs in Shanghai Cancer Rehabilitation Club. All participants were asked to fill in an online questionnaire including Stigma Scale for Chronic Illnesses 8-item version (SSCI-8) and questions on sociodemographic characteristics and health status. Multivariate linear regression was used to analyze the association between comorbidities and stigma, adjusting for confounding factors. Results showed that nearly 70% of the participants had one or more comorbidities. The participants with stroke, digestive diseases or musculoskeletal diseases had significantly higher stigma than those without the above comorbidities. In addition, stigma was higher among survivors in the group with a greater number of comorbidities. Thus, it is important to strengthen the management of stigma in BCSs, especially for those with comorbidities.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Regular physical activity (PA) is a key element in chronic disease management. We studied the effect of a recent legislative framework given to physical activity prescription (PAP) on practices, motivations, barriers, and needs for PAP in primary care among general practitioners (GP) of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, France. METHODS Our cross-sectional survey used a self-administrated questionnaire through two recruitment methods: e-mail address (online group) and face-to-face (office group). Based on the data pertaining to demography, motivation scores, needs, and barriers, we analyzed the profiles of participating GPs. RESULTS Among the 283 GPs, online participants (n = 250) were younger than office participants (n = 33) (46 ± 11 vs. 51 ± 12 years, p = 0.0083), and were physically more active (80% vs 51%, p = 0.0006). Regular PA was also critical in the profile of current prescribers (OR = 2.83 (95%CI [1.28, 7.00]), p = 0.015). The motivation score for PAP was high and equal in both groups (10.5 ± 3.3 in a maximum of 15), but multiple barriers emerged, which demonstrated age-dependent variations in the score. Young GPs mostly identified self-imposed barriers (exercise referral, PAP training), while for older GPs these barriers were equally attributable to patients. CONCLUSION Although the legislative framework given to PAP in France was associated with a 12% increase in the number of prescribers, PA remains poorly prescribed in primary care, even among the most motivated physicians.
