Abstract
Persons suffering from eating disorders (ED) may often experience a recurrence/persistence symptoms despite the completion of psychiatric therapy. In most cases, their general health status is linked to current nutritional behaviors. Medical professionals, general practitioners (GPs), dieticians, and dentists may see those patients in their practices. At the same time, due to low sense of illness, some patients may delay or never seek professional medical care. The aim of this article is to analyze the main ED types according to dietary behaviors causing oral health problems and discuss oral health complications in affected dentate patients. The second objective is to update oral preventive measures and technological innovations together with active agents for oral hygiene care that might effectively support oral health maintenance during the presence of long-term symptoms. The research method involved a review of clinical reports as a synthesis of the electronic research in the Pubmed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. Based on the research, ED patients were found to present related incidences of oral complications. Studies have reported that the possible course of an ED and comorbidities may be an imbalance in the oral environment. The results showed an association between biological (malnutrition, etc.), behavioral (binge eating episodes, vomiting, acidic diet, poor oral hygiene), and pharmacotherapeutic (addiction, hyposalivation) factors that may threaten oral health. Early diagnosis of the past and present symptoms is essential to eliminate and take control of destructive behaviors. Oral changes need to be tackled with medical insight, and additionally, the perception of dietary interactions is recommended.

Abstract
The aim of this clinical report is to present a possible alternative treatment, with 24-month follow-up, for restoring tooth loss due to extensive erosive tooth wear. A 21-year-old male patient, complaining of intense sensitivity in the maxillary posterior teeth, and presenting severe wear on maxillary premolar and molar teeth due to gastroesophageal reflux, sought care in the university clinics. The planned treatment was to refer for medical treatment and perform restorations with the high-viscosity glass ionomer cement Equia Forte (GC Corporation, Tokyo, Japan), aiming to restore the dental anatomy and to consequently decrease the pain symptomatology. A silicone guide, obtained from a diagnostic waxing, was used during the restorative approach considering the patient's occlusion. After all the clinical steps of the restorative technique, an occlusal adjustment of restorations was performed. During monthly recalls up to 24 months, the treatment was stable and in service. In addition, the patient reported no pain and improved chewing, leading to a better quality of life.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the mechanical resistance of dentin and restorative materials submitted to erosive/abrasive challenges with different dentifrices. The dentin was restored using a resin-modified glass-ionomer (RMGIC) or a composite resin (RC). One hemiface of the sample was protected, and the other was subdivided according to the applied dentifrice (n = 10): without fluoride (SF), sodium fluoride (NaF) and stannous fluoride (SnF). The specimens were submitted to erosive/abrasive cycles, the varnish was removed, and the Martens hardness (HMV) and elastic modulus (Eit) were evaluated. The data were analyzed by repeated two-way ANOVA measurements and Tukey tests (alpha = 0.05). When analyzing the HMV on the test side, there was no influence of the dentifrices in the dentin; however, the orders of NaF < SnF = SF in RC and SnF > NaF = SF in RMGIC were observed. Comparing the treated surfaces, there were no differences in the dentin, and only the SF since CR presented an HMV superior to that of RMGIC. Comparing control and test sides, both dentins obtained a decreased HMV after the erosive/abrasive challenge; for the restorative materials, superior values were found only for SnF in the RMGIC. The Eit values were influenced more by the dentifrices on the test side for the dentin adjacent to the RMGIC, with the lowest values shown for the SF, and for both materials, the highest values were shown for the SnF group. No differences were found when comparing each dentin treated with the same dentifrice; however, the RMGIC presented a superior Eit than the CR when brushed with both dentifrices with a fluoride. Comparing the control and test sides, the same results were obtained for the HMV. The dentifrices showed little influence on the dentin substrate, whereas the dentifrice with SnF enhanced the mechanical properties of the restorative materials, which was more evident in the RMGIC.

Abstract
The growing interest reflected in the studies on dental erosion is justified by the severe health problems it entails, i.e. esthetic, phonetic, masticatory disturbances and pulp complications. Most studies investigate the prevalence of dental erosion in adults and children, the severity of lesions and etiopathogenetic factors.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES A commercial restorative material, BondfillSB (BF), is a modification of 4-META/MMA-TBB resin cement. BF uses a self-etching primer and added pre-polymerized organic fillers. We compared BF with another self-etching system, EasyBond (EB), in shear bond strength, bonded interface characteristics to human dentin and contraction gap when used in bulk-filling. METHODS Shear bond strength of BF and EB + Z100 (Z), bonded by different experience-level operators, was evaluated. Bonded interfaces were characterized by SEM, AFM, and AFM based nano-indentation. Contraction gaps (CG) at 0h and 24h after polymerization were evaluated for BF or EB bulk filled class I cavities. To meet the clinical recommendation, BF's powder was replaced by experimental radioopaque powder (BFO) for the CG study. EB was used with Z (EBZ) or with a resin marketed for bulk-fill base (SureFil-SDR-flow (EBSF)). RESULTS Shear bond strengths (Mean ± Standard Deviation (S.D.)) of BF (37.4 ± 2.6 MPa; n=36) were higher and less variable than EBZ (18.2 ± 7.6 MPa; n=36) (p<0.0001, One-way ANOVA). Weibull characteristic strength (η) differed significantly between materials (p<0.0001) but not between operators (p=0.90). EBZ often had non-uniform interfaces and a wider band of reduced elastic modulus (E) of greater than 20 μm across the interface. BF had uniform interfaces and a smaller width of affected dentin under the interface (∼1 μm). There was a difference in dentin-E between EBZ and BF up to 9 μm from the interface (mixed-effects model; P=0.03). A stratified linear regression model used for CG. EBSF and BFO showed significantly smaller CG than EBZ at time 0. None of three combinations showed any significant change between 0h-CG and 24h-CG. SIGNIFICANCE BF possessed bonding characteristics required to serve as a restorative.

Abstract
The use of composite restorations for patients with tooth wear is considered as a more conservative treatment option. The aim of this study was to systematically review the literature investigating the survival rates of anterior composite restorations when used in managing tooth wear in patients. PubMed and MEDLINE (Ovid) databases were screened for studies from 1995 to 2015. Cross-referencing was used to further identify articles. Article selection and data extraction were performed in duplication. Languages were restricted to English. A quality appraisal of included studies was carried out using the Strength of Recommendation Taxonomy system. Six hundred and sixty-six articles were initially identified from which eight articles were full-text reviewed. Six articles involving five studies were selected for inclusion. Three studies were prospective and two retrospective. Included studies involved placement of 772 direct and indirect anterior composite restorations in 100 patients with follow-up periods between 5 months and 10 years. The survival rates of anterior composites were >90% and 50% at 2.5 and 5 years, respectively. Posterior occlusion was re-established in 91% of patients within 18 months. Meta-analysis could not be performed due to the heterogeneity of included studies. The systematic review's overall strength of recommendation was graded B. There is evidence to support the use of anterior composite restorations at an increased vertical dimension of occlusion in the short/medium-term management of tooth wear. Long-term reporting of outcomes remains limited. Further research is needed with standardised study design, detailed reporting of outcomes and long-term review.
