Abstract
Four one-dimensional complexes, denoted as [NiL1][Ni(CN)4] (1), [CuL1][Ni(CN)4] (2), [NiL2][Ni(CN)4]·2H2O (3), and [CuL2][Ni(CN)4]·2H2O (4) (L1 = 1,8-dimethyl-1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaaza-cyclotetradecane; L2 = 1,8-dipropyl-1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaazacyclotetradecane) were synthesized by reacting nickel/copper macrocyclic complexes with K2[Ni(CN)4]. Subsequently, the synthesized complexes were characterized using elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray powder diffraction. Single-crystal structure analysis revealed that the Ni(II)/Cu(II) atoms were coordinated by two nitrogen atoms from [Ni(CN)4]2- with four nitrogen atoms from a macrocyclic ligand, forming a six-coordinated octahedral coordination geometry. Nickel/copper macrocyclic complexes were bridged by [Ni(CN)4]2- to construct one-dimensional chain structures in 1-4. The characterization results showed that the four complexes obeyed the Curie-Weiss law with a weak antiferromagnetic exchange coupling.

Abstract
In the title salt-type 1:2 adduct, [Ni(C16H36N4)](C14H14O2PS2)2 or [Ni(tet-a)][S2P(OCH2Ph)2]2, where tet-a is meso-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane, the [Ni(tet-a)]2+ complex cation exhibits a relatively undistorted square-planar geometry about the Ni atom, which lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated by four macrocyclic N atoms. The two O,O′-bis(2-phenylmethyl) dithiophosphate anions act as counter-ions to balance the charge and they interact with the complex through N—H⋯S hydrogen bonds. Important geometric data include Ni—N distances of 1.958 (3) and 1.963 (3) Å.

Abstract
Reaction of iron(II) and the 3 : 1 Schiff base condensate of 5-methylpyrazole-3-carboxaldehyde and tris(2-aminoethyl)amine in air gives a pseudo-dimer complex with a triple helix structure made of Delta-Delta and Lambda-Lambda pairings of spin crossover iron(II) and low spin iron(III) cations that are held together by three pi-pi and hydrogen bonding interactions.

Abstract
The aminolysis of α-isobutyl-α-(methylthio)methylene Meldrum's acid 7 with primary amines, namely, n-butylamine, glycinamide, and methoxyethylamine in DMSO–H2O (50:50, v/v) at 20 °C is overall second-order but first-order in both 7 and amines. The reaction with aminoacetonitrile (AA) is overall third-order, first-order in substrate, and second-order in amine at low amine concentration, while at high amine concentration and high pH the dependence on amine is first-order. A general three-step mechanism has been proposed for all these reactions. For the former group of amines, the first step is a rate-limiting attack of the amine to form the tetrahedral intermediate (TA±), followed by a fast acid–base equilibrium and a fast RNH3+- or H2O-assisted leaving group expulsion. For AA, general base catalysis was confirmed from the dependence of kA on [AA]f and on [OH–]. For all four amines, a good Brønsted plot of log k1 vs. pKaAH in DMSO–H2O (50:50, v/v) with βnuc = 0.34 ± 0.02 was observed. These observations are consistent with the suggested mechanism.Key words: nucleophilic vinylic substitution reactions, primary amines, α-isobutyl-α-(methylthio)methylene Meldrum's acid, three-step mechanism.

Abstract
Copper(II) binuclear complexes [Cu(II)(1-phenylamidino-O-n-propylurea)tn]2 (H2O)2(Cl2)2 (1), [Cu(II)(1-phenylamidino-O-n-butylurea)tn]2(H2O)2(Cl2)2(2), [Cu(II)(1-phenylamidino-O-i-butylurea)tn]2(H2O)2(Cl2)2(3), and [Cu(II)(1-phenyamidino-O-i-butylurea)en]2(H2O)2(Cl2)2 (4) have been reported. The binuclear complexes 3 and 4 crystallize in a monoclinic structure with unit cell dimensions a = 15.252(17) A, b = 14.682(10) A, c = 13.606(13) A, and beta = 111.2(1) degrees and a = 15.278(35) A, b = 14.665(21) A, c = 13.603(27) A, and beta = 111.1(1) degrees , respectively. The EPR spectra of all the solid complexes at room temperature consisted of fine-structure transitions (DeltaM(s) = 1) with zero-field splitting (ZFS) of 0.0500 cm(-1) and a half-field signal (DeltaM(s) = 2) at ca. 1600 G, suggesting the formation of binuclear complexes (S = 1). From the observed ZFS, we estimated the average Cu-Cu distance. From the temperature dependence of the EPR signal intensity, we evaluated the isotropic exchange interaction constant J. It appears that the exchange interaction between the two interacting spins of the binuclear complexes is ferromagnetic in nature. The formation of ferromagnetically coupled copper binuclear complexes was further confirmed from the high magnetic-moment values at room temperature. When the EPR spectra were recorded in the temperature range 300-400 K, it was observed that the triplet-state EPR signal completely and irreversibly disappeared at ca. 380 K with the appearance of a new signal attributable to the mononuclear complex (S = 1/2). Thermal studies of these complexes in this temperature range suggested the loss of two water molecules, which might be responsible for binding two mononuclear species. EPR, IR, and thermal studies indicate a long-range ferromagnetic exchange mediated through hydrogen bonding between copper(II) ions (S = 1/2).
