Abstract
Carbones (carbodiphosphoranes, bent allenes and chalcogen-stabilized carbones) bear the same resonance contributor X+ -C2- -Y+ (X+ , Y+ =PR3 + , CR2 + , SR2 + , SeR2 + , S+ R2 =NR) and exhibit unique bonding and donating properties at the central carbon atom. A classification is given on basis of both the geometry and the magnetic properties (13 C chemical shift of the central carbon atom and the spatial magnetic properties, through-space NMR shieldings (TS NMRSs), actually the anisotropy effect or the ring current effect of aromatic species). TS NMRS values have been calculated using the GIAO perturbation method employing the nucleus independent chemical shift (NICS) concept and the results visualized as iso-chemical-shielding surfaces (ICSS) of various size and direction. The synergy of geometry (linear or bent, orthogonal or twisted structures) and NMR characteristics (extend of the high field shift of the central carbon atom, anisotropy effect of the allene-like C=C double bonds or the ball-like anisotropy effect of carbone-like central carbon atom) provides a comprehensive picture of the dominating resonance contributor.

Abstract
The spatial magnetic properties, through-space NMR shieldings (TSNMRS), of bent allene 1, the corresponding C-extended 1,3-butadiene derivative 2, and a number of related compounds 3-20 have been calculated using the gauge-independent atomic orbital perturbation method, employing the nucleus-independent chemical shift concept and visualized as isochemical shielding surfaces of various sizes and directions. Prior to that, both structures and 13C chemical shifts were calculated and compared with available experimental bond lengths and δ(13C)/ppm values (also, as a quality criterion for the computed structures). Bond lengths, the δ(13C)/ppm, and the TSNMRS values are employed to qualify and quantify the electronic structure of the studied compounds in terms of dative or classical electron-sharing bonds.

Abstract
This review recapitulates all available literature dealing with the synthesis and reactivity of geminal organic di- and triazides. These compound classes are, to a large extent, unexplored despite their promising chemical properties and their simple preparation. In addition, the chemistry of carbonyl diazide (2) and tetraazidomethane (105) is described in separate sections.

Abstract
The success of homogeneous catalysis can be attributed largely to the development of a diverse range of ligand frameworks that have been used to tune the behavior of various systems. Spectacular results in this area have been achieved using cyclic diaminocarbenes (NHCs) as a result of their strong σ-donor properties. Although it is possible to cursorily tune the structure of NHCs, any diversity is still far from matching their phosphorus-based counterparts, which is one of the great strengths of the latter. A variety of stable acyclic carbenes are known, but they are either reluctant to bind metals or they give rise to fragile metal complexes. During the last five years, new types of stable cyclic carbenes, as well as related carbon-based ligands (which are not NHCs), and which feature even stronger σ-donor properties have been developed. Their synthesis and characterization as well as the stability, electronic properties, coordination behavior, and catalytic activity of the ensuing complexes are discussed, and comparisons with their NHC cousins are made.

Abstract
The parent allenediazonium monocation H2C[double bond]C[double bond]CH(N2+) and ten of its substituted derivatives XYC[double bond]C[double bond]C(Z)N2+ (with F, CF3, Me, OMe, and Me2N as substituents) were studied by DFT at the B3LYP/6-31++G** level. Except for the Me2N-substituted derivative that forms a monocation-N2 complex, structurally intact allenediazonium ions were obtained as minima in all cases. Protonation studies at various sites were performed on allenediazonium cations, and relative energies of the resulting minima were used to identify the energetically most favored dications. In the majority of cases, protonation at the central carbon of the allenic moiety (C2) is most favored, forming delocalized allyl cation-N2+ species. The same dication structure is formed via initial C3-protonation, followed by a formal hydride shift, in cases where a carbocation-stabilizing group is placed at C3. When a CF3 group is placed at C3, initial protonation at C1 resulted in a 1,3-fluorine shift, to generate a fluoroallyl cation linked to a CH2N2+ moiety. Structural features in the allenediazonium monocations and their protonated dications were examined, taking into account their geometrical features, computed charges, and the GIAO NMR shifts.
