Abstract
The synthesis, structure, magnetic, and photophysical properties of two dinuclear, luminescent, mixed-ligand [CrIII 2 L(O2 CR)]3+ complexes (R=CH3 (1), Ph (2)) of a 24-membered binucleating hexa-aza-dithiophenolate macrocycle (L)2- are presented. X-ray crystallographic analysis reveals an edge-sharing bioctahedral N3 Cr(μ-SR)2 (μ1,3 -O2 CR)CrN3 core structure with μ1,3 -bridging carboxylate groups. A ferromagnetic superexchange interaction between the electron spins of the Cr3+ ions leads to a high-spin (S=3) ground state. The coupling constants (J=+24.2(1) cm-1 (1), +34.8(4) cm-1 (2), H=-2JS1 S2 ) are significantly larger than in related bis-μ-alkoxido-μ-carboxylato structures. DFT calculations performed on both complexes reproduce both the sign and strength of the exchange interactions found experimentally. Frozen methanol-dichloromethane 1 : 1 solutions of 1 and 2 luminesce at 750 nm when excited into the 4 LMCT state on the 4 A2 → 2 T1 (ν2 ) bands (λexc =405 nm). The absolute quantum yields (ΦL ) for 1 and 2 were found to be strongly temperature dependent. At 77 K in frozen MeOH/CH2 Cl2 glasses, ΦL =0.44±0.02 (for 1), ΦL =0.45±0.02 (for 2).

Abstract
The synthesis of mixed-ligand complexes of the type [M2L(μ-L')]+, where L represents a 24-membered macrocyclic hexaaza-dithiophenolate ligand, L' is an azobenzene carboxylate co-ligand, and M = Cd(II), Ni(II) or Zn(II), is reported. A series of new complexes were synthesized, namely [M2L(μ-L')]+ (L' = azo-H, M = Cd (1), Ni (2); L' = azo-OH, M = Zn (3), Ni (4); L' = azo-NMe2, M = Zn (5), Cd (6), Ni (7); L' = azo-CO2Me, M = Cd (8), Ni (9)), and characterized by elemental analysis, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESIMS), IR, UV-vis and NMR spectroscopy (for diamagnetic Zn and Cd complexes) and X-ray single crystal structure analysis. The crystal structures of 3' and 5-8 display an isostructural series of compounds with bridging azobenzene carboxylates in the trans form. The paramagnetic Ni complexes 2, 4 and 7 reveal a weak ferromagnetic exchange interaction with magnetic exchange coupling constant values between 21 and 23 cm-1 (H = -2JS1S2). Irradiation of 1 with λ = 365 nm reveals a photoisomerization of the co-ligand from the trans to the cis form.

Abstract
A new hexagonal bipyramidal Ni8 cluster is reported and its magnetic behaviour is analyzed. The molecular structure consists of a hexagonal wheel capped by two additional apical Ni(2+) ions. This structure supports ferromagnetic superexchange interactions between adjacent Ni(2+) ions in the wheel and an antiferromagnetic superexchange interaction between the wheel and apical Ni(2+) ions.

Abstract
The new tridentate ligand, S(Me)N(H)S = 2-(2-methylthiophenyl)benzothiazolidine, prepared in a single step from commercial precursors in excellent yield, undergoes ring-opening on treatment with Fe(OTf)2 in the presence of base affording a trinuclear iron complex, [Fe3(μ2-S(Me)NS(-))4](OTf)2 (1) which is fully characterized by structural and spectroscopic methods. X-ray structural data reveal that 1 contains four S(Me)NS(-) ligands meridionally bound to two pseudooctahedral iron centers each bridged by two thiolates to a distorted tetrahedral central iron. The combined spectroscopic (UV-vis, Mössbauer, NMR), magnetic (solution and solid state), and computational (DFT) studies indicate that 1 includes a central, high-spin Fe(II) (S = 2) with two low-spin (S = 0) peripheral Fe(II) centers. Complex 1 reacts with excess PMePh2, CNxylyl (2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide), and P(OMe)3 in CH3CN to form diamagnetic, thiolate-bridged, dinuclear Fe(II) complexes {[Fe(μ-S(Me)NS(-))L2]2}(OTf)2 (2-4). These complexes are characterized by elemental analysis; (1)H NMR, IR, UV-vis, and Mössbauer spectroscopy; and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Interestingly, addition of excess P(OMe)3 to complex 1 in CH2Cl2 produces primarily the diamagnetic, mononuclear Fe(II) complex, {Fe(S(Me)NS(-))[P(OMe)3]3}(OTf) (5).

Abstract
A new strategy for the fixation of redox-active dinickel(II) complexes with high-spin ground states to gold surfaces was developed. The dinickel(II) complex [Ni2L(Cl)]ClO4 (1ClO4), in which L(2-) represents a 24-membered macrocyclic hexaaza-dithiophenolate ligand, reacts with ambidentate 4-(diphenylphosphino)benzoate (dppba) to form the carboxylato-bridged complex [Ni2L(dppba)](+), which can be isolated as an air-stable perchlorate [Ni2L(dppba)]ClO4 (2ClO4) or tetraphenylborate [Ni2L(dppba)]BPh4 (2BPh4) salt. The auration of 2ClO4 was probed on a molecular level, by reaction with AuCl, which leads to the monoaurated Ni(II)2Au(I) complex [Ni(II)2L(dppba)Au(I)Cl]ClO4 (3ClO4). Metathesis of 3ClO4 with NaBPh4 produces [Ni(II)2L(dppba)Au(I)Ph]BPh4 (4BPh4), in which the Cl(-) is replaced by a Ph(-) group. The complexes were fully characterized by ESI mass spectrometry, IR and UV/Vis spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography (2BPh4 and 4BPh4), cyclic voltammetry, SQUID magnetometry and HF-ESR spectroscopy. Temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal a ferromagnetic coupling J = +15.9 and +17.9 cm(-1) between the two Ni(II) ions in 2ClO4 and 4BPh4 (H = -2 JS1S2). HF-ESR measurements yield a negative axial magnetic anisotropy (D<0), which implies a bistable (easy axis) magnetic ground state. The binding of the [Ni2L(dppba)]ClO4 complex to gold was ascertained by four complementary surface analytical methods: contact angle measurements, atomic-force microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and spectroscopic ellipsometry. The results indicate that the complexes are attached to the Au surface through coordinative Au-P bonds in a monolayer.

Abstract
The coordination chemistry of dinickel macrocyclic hexaamine-dithiophenolate complexes of Robson-type with azoligands is presented in this microreview. All complexes have been characterised by IR-,UV/Visspectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography. The bioctahedral transition metal complexes of the type [(L6)Ni2(μ-L')]+ exhibit a rich coordination chemistry since the active coordination site L' is accessible for a wide range of exogenous coligands.

Abstract
The steric protection offered by the macrobinucleating hexaazaditiophenolateligand (L) allows for the preparation of the first stable dinuclear nickel(II) borohydride bridged complex, which reacts rapidly with elemental sulphur producing a tetranuclear nickel(II) complex [{(L)Ni2}2(μ-S6)]2+ bearing a helical μ4-hexa- sulfide ligand. The [(L)CoII 2]2+ fragment have been able to trap a monomethyl orthomolybdate in the binding pocket. Unusual coordination modes of substrate in dinuclear macrocyclic compounds was demonstrated.

Abstract
A series of novel tri- and pentanuclear complexes composed of dinuclear LM(2) units (M=Co, Ni, Zn; L=24-membered macrocyclic hexaazadithiophenolate ligand) and ferrocenecarboxylate ([CpFeC(5)H(4)CO(2)](-)) or 1,1'-ferrocenedicarboxylate ([Fe(C(5)H(4)CO(2))(2)](2-)) groups is reported. The complexes [LM(II) (2)(O(2)CC(5)H(4)FeCp)](+) (M=Co (6), Ni (7), Zn (8)) and [(LM(II) (2))(2)(O(2)CC(5)H(4))(2)Fe](2+) (M=Co (9), Ni (10)) have been prepared by substitution reactions from labile [LM(II) (2)L'](+) precursors (L'=Cl, OAc) and the respective ferrocenecarboxylate anions in methanol. Mixed-valent [(LCo(II)Co(III))(2)(O(2)CC(5)H(4))(2)Fe](4+) (11) was prepared by oxidation of 9 with bromine. Complexes 7[BPh(4)], 8[BPh(4)], 9[BPh(4)](2), 10[BPh(4)](2), and 11[ClO(4)](4) have been characterized by X-ray crystallography; showing that the ferrocenyl carboxylates act as bidentate (7, 8) or bis-bidentate (9-11) bridging ligands towards one or two bioctahedral LM(2) subunits, respectively. The structures are retained in solution as indicated by NMR spectroscopic studies on the diamagnetic Zn(2)Fe complex 8[ClO(4)]. Electrochemical studies reveal significant anodic potential shifts for the oxidation potential of the ferrocenyl moieties upon complexation and the magnitude of the potential shift appears to correlate with the charge of the LM(2) subunits. This is qualitatively explained in terms of destabilizing electrostatic (Coulomb) interactions between the M(2+) ions of the LM(2) unit and the proximate ferrocenium fragment. An analysis of the temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility data for 10[BPh(4)](2) shows the presence of weak ferromagnetic magnetic exchange interactions between the Ni(II) ions in the LNi(2) units. The exchange coupling across the ferrocenedicarboxylate bridge is negligible.
