Abstract
Readily available hydroxamic acids were leveraged to access challenging nitrones in the presence of H3PO4 as a Brønsted acid catalyst and engaged in an intramolecular (3+2) annulation reaction to make valuable cyclopentane-fused isoxazolidines with high yields and excellent diastereoselectivity. The products were further utilized in a unique base-promoted benzilic amide rearrangement to provide cyclopentane-fused γ-lactams bearing three contiguous stereocenters as a single diastereomer.

Abstract
Condensation reactions of unprotected tetroses and pentoses with hydroxylamines afforded nitrones, which were easily converted to densely functionalized isoxazolidines in the presence of electron-poor alkenes. The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition occurred with good facial discrimination of the chiral nitrone but under rather low endo/exo control. Stereochemistry of isomers was ascertained by chemical correlation with known derivatives from the literature. Microwave activation appeared as the most efficient reaction mode, affording the expected adducts within several minutes whereas hours were needed under standard heating. Alternatively, the transformation proved also possible under high pressure conditions by using a hand pump system, avoiding any energy source. Although water could not be used as the solvent, leading to hydrolysis of the nitrone substrate, a large variety of organic solvents proved efficient. The method has potential use in the preparation of non-ionic carbohydrate-based amphiphiles.

Abstract
The isoxazolidine ring represents one of the privileged structures in medicinal chemistry, and there have been an increasing number of studies on isoxazolidine and isoxazolidine-containing compounds. Optimization of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (1,3-DC), original methods including electrophilic or palladium-mediated cyclization of unsaturated hydroxylamine, has been developed to obtain isoxazolidines. Novel reactions involving the isoxazolidine ring have been highlighted to accomplish total synthesis or to obtain bioactive compounds, one of the most significant examples being probably the thermic ring contraction applied to the total synthesis of (±)-Gelsemoxonine. The unique isoxazolidine scaffold also exhibits an impressive potential as a mimic of nucleosides, carbohydrates, PNA, amino acids, and steroid analogs. This review aims to be a comprehensive and general summary of the different isoxazolidine syntheses, their use as starting building blocks for the preparation of natural compounds, and their main biological activities.

Abstract
A palladium (II) complex {[(PhCH2O)2P(CH3)2CHNCH(CH3)2]2PdCl2} catalyzed Hiyama cross-coupling reaction between aryl bromides and arylsilanes has been developed. The substituted biaryls were produced in moderate to high yields, regardless of electron-withdrawing or electron-donating.

Abstract
The solid-phase version of the Pd-catalyzed Hiyama reaction between a variety of aryltriethoxysilanes and immobilized aryl halides was developed. Smooth cross-coupling was achieved to afford the corresponding biaryl products in moderate to excellent yields. The described protocol would be particularly useful for the construction of 4'-substituted 1,1'-biphenyl derivatives.

Abstract
The oxidative intramolecular bromo-amination of various N-alkenyl sulfonamides and N-alkenoxyl sulfonamides via umpolung of alkali metal bromides occurred exo-selectively to generate cyclic bromoamides in high yields with good diastereoselectivities. This method provided the desired products without elaborating the stoichiometric amount of corresponding organic waste.

Abstract
Heating the tosylhydrazone of an omega-alkenyl ketone or aldehyde to reflux in toluene in the presence of K(2)CO(3) delivered the bicyclic diazene. Irradiation of the diazene converted it to the cyclopropane. This appears to be a generally useful method for the construction of substituted cyclopentanes and cyclohexanes.
