Abstract
Multifunctional group compounds, 2-acyl-3-sulfonamidobut-2-enoates, are efficiently constructed using solid calcium carbide as an alkyne source through the simultaneous formation of two bonds in one step. The salient features of this protocol are the use of an inexpensive, abundant, and easy-to-use alkyne source as a substitute for flammable and explosive gaseous acetylene, low-cost catalyst, mild conditions, wide substrate scope, high stereoselectivity, satisfactory yield, and simple manipulation. This method can also be extended to the gram scale.

Abstract
Abstract:
An efficient and eco-friendly approach for the synthesis of β-enaminone derivatives is described, which is through the addition of nitriles with β-dicarbonyl compounds under ultrasound irradiation condition at room temperature. The scope and limitation of this strategy are also discussed. A variety of substituted amides can be obtained in moderate to good yields. We hope that this protocol for the efficient synthesis of β-enaminones will offer insights in further investigations.

Abstract
Reductive cyanation of tertiary alkyl bromides using electrophilic cyanating reagent and zinc reductant was developed, providing various α-cyano ketones, esters, and carboxamides containing a nitrile-bearing all-carbon quaternary center in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions. The corresponding reaction mechanism involving in situ generated organozinc reagent and reactivity distinction was elucidated by density functional theory computation.

Abstract
A facile one-pot synthesis of 4-chloro or 4-bromonicotinic acid esters with optional 2- and 2,5-disubstitution on the pyridine ring has been developed from easily accessible enamino keto esters by a formylation followed by in situ intramolecular cyclization strategy under optimized Vilsmeier reaction conditions. The effect of the substituents on the β-carbon and the nature of the keto functionality were explored in detail to understand the mechanism of pyridine ring formation under the described conditions.

Abstract
The intramolecular alkylative reactivity and N/C selectivity of the various Blaise reaction intermediates, which are formed from the reaction of the Reformatsky reagents with ω-chloroalkyl nitriles, did not reach the synthetic potential as an entry to exo-cyclic enaminoesters. To circumvent this issue, various additives were investigated, among which the addition of NaHMDS dramatically enhanced the reactivity and N/C selectivity. This modification provided a highly efficient route for the synthesis of various N-fused heterocyclic compounds, as it requires only two steps from nitriles.

Abstract
Regioisomeric spiropyrazolines were synthesized through a tandem intramolecular cyclization/methylation reaction of a functionalized 5,5-disubstituted pyrazoline in one reaction vessel. The 5,5-pyrazolines were constructed through a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of aromatic ring containing nitrile imines and a disubstituted geminal alkene. An evaluation of the relative location of the nucleophilic and electrophilic functional groups on the pyrazoline was performed in order to ascertain the best pyrazoline system for the intramolecular cyclization/methylation reaction. Higher spiropyrazoline isolated yields were realized from pyrazolines with the electrophilic ester located further away from the pyrazoline when compared to pyrazolines with a directly bonded ester.
