Abstract
A simple and efficient AgOTf-promoted tandem olefin isomerization/intramolecular hydroamination of 1,1-disubstituted alkenyl amines has been developed. This one-pot process represents a facile and attractive route for the synthesis of diverse 2-alkyl-substituted 1,3-X,N-heterocycles through chemo- and regioselective C(sp3)-N bond formation with atom economy. Advantages such as the operationally simple and practical procedure that uses a readily available catalyst under aerobic conditions, good to excellent chemical yields, the high functional group tolerance, the broad substrate scope, and high efficiency and selectivity are noteworthy.

Abstract
Pd-Catalyzed intramolecular allylic C-H amination of 1,1-disubstituted alkenyl amines with various allylic tethers (X = O, NMs, CH2) was developed. This process allows for the divergent synthesis of 1,3-X,N-heterocycles through a regioselective allylic C-H cleavage and π-allylpalladium formation. Particularly noteworthy is the use of substrates containing a labile allylic moiety and new simple catalytic systems capable of promoting highly chemo- and regioselective allylic C-H amination by overcoming significant challenges.

Abstract
A tandem cyclization between 2-(2-aminophenyl)acetonitriles and 2-(hydroxy(aryl)methyl)phenols for the preparation of dihydrochromeno[2,3-b]indole derivatives was successfully developed. The transformation proceeded smoothly in the presence of a catalytic environmentally benign iron salt, and various multisubstituted dihydrochromeno[2,3-b]indoles were synthesized in moderate to high yields.

Abstract
Strategies to achieve spatiotemporal regulation of pre-existing alkenes via external stimuli are essential given the ubiquity of feedstock olefins in chemistry and their downstream applications. Mirroring the 1-0 switch that underpins mammalian vision through selective geometric isomerisation in retinal, strategies to manipulate 2D space by both geometric and positional isomerisation of alkenes via chemical, thermal and light-driven processes are being intensively pursued. This minireview highlights the current state of the art in activating and achieving directionality in these fundamental chemical transformations.

Abstract
The operationally simple palladium-catalyzed double-bond migration without heteroatom-containing coordinating functional groups is described. Addition of TaCl5 as a second catalyst greatly enhanced the migration efficiency to provide β-alkylstyrenes through migration of up to a five-carbon chain. Both catalysts were commercially available, and the reaction occurred without external ligands under neutral conditions. The reaction proceeded via generation of π-allyl palladium species, which enabled the chemoselective double-bond migration of hydrocarbons in the presence of allylethers. Remote functionalization through double-bond migration was also demonstrated using FeCl3 as a second catalyst.

Abstract
Long-range olefin isomerization of 2-alkenylbenzoic acid derivatives going through two to five sp3-carbon atoms to give (E)-alkenes was achieved with palladium(0) nanoparticles. The substrate scope of this reaction includes carboxylic acid, ester, and primary to tertiary amides and tolerates various substituents on the benzene ring. This isomerization reaction was catalyzed by recyclable Pd(0) nanoparticles, prepared in situ from PdCl2 and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analyses. 1H NMR studies and kinetic modeling supported a stepwise process. This new process was applied to synthesize a natural dihydroisocoumarin with good efficiency.

Abstract
(Poly)glycerol monoethers were synthesized in good yield and selectivity by the catalytic reductive alkylation of glycerol, diglycerol, and triglycerol with readily available, cheap and/or bio-sourced carboxylic acids. The reaction was catalyzed by 1 mol % of Pd/C under 50 bar H(2) using an acid ion-exchange resin as a recyclable cocatalyst. The catalytic system was recycled several times, and a mechanism is proposed for this transformation.

Abstract
An efficient access to 2-substituted 3-arylbenzofurans through a palladium-catalyzed C3 direct arylation of 2-substituted benzofurans with aryl bromides is described. The scope and limitation of this reaction was studied. The method tolerates a variety of functional groups on the aryl halide and has been successfully extended to polysubstituted benzofurans to obtain the corresponding 3-arylbenzofurans with good to excellent yields.

Abstract
A diastereoselective organocatalytic aldol/oxa-Michael reaction has been developed to efficiently deliver medicinally relevant 2,3-ring-substituted chromanones. Development of this synthetic strategy revealed an unexpected kinetic anti-Saytzeff elimination; an origin for the observed selectivity is suggested on the basis of the results of quantum chemical calculations. This unusual kinetic selectivity necessitated an isomerization protocol that in turn led to the discovery of an intriguing Pd-mediated isomerization/intramolecular Friedel-Crafts-type alkylation.

Abstract
Carpanone has been stereoselectively synthesized in 55% yield and six steps from sesamol. The key step of the synthetic sequence is the direct introduction of the propenyl side chain via a Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. The subsequent Pd(II)-catalyzed oxidative coupling yields carpanone as a single diastereoisomer independently of the geometric configuration of the starting precursor. A new mechanism is proposed for this transformation.
