Abstract
Various alkenes are formylated with dichloromethyl methyl ether (MOMCl2) by the combined use of SnCl4/2,6-dibromopyridine (B1) or AgOTf/pyridine (B4) via Friedel-Crafts-type reaction. The former reagent combination is mainly applied to α,α-diarylalkenes, while the latter one is applied not only to arylalkenes but also to some alkylalkenes. Vinyl aldehydes are exclusively obtained from alkenes that can possibly afford both allyl and vinyl aldehydes.

Abstract
The silver(i) and iodine(i) complexes of the 2-substituted pyridines 2-(diphenylmethyl)pyridine (1) and 2-(1,1-diphenylethyl)pyridine (2), along with their potential protonated side products, were synthesised to investigate the steric limitations of iodine(i) complex formation. The complexes were characterised by 1H and 1H–15N HMBC NMR, X-ray crystallography, and DFT calculations. The solid-state structures for the silver(i) and iodine(i) complexes were extensively compared to the literature and analysed by DFT to examine the influence of the sterically bulky pyridines and their anions. The silver(i) and iodine(i) complexes of two sterically bulky 2-substituted pyridines, along with their potential protonated side products, were synthesised to investigate the steric limitations of iodine(i) ion formation.![]()

Abstract
A set of silver(i) 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl) pyrazolate adducts with 1,10-phenanthroline (L2), 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (neocuproine, L3) and 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (bathocuproine, L4) was synthesized starting from trimeric silver pyrazolate Ag3Pz3. Reactions with sterically hindered L3 and L4 cause the destruction of the original trimeric core, yielding a dinuclear Ag2Pz2 cycle with an unprecedented chair configuration for L3, while bathocuproine L4 leads to the drastic rearrangement of the silver pyrazolate core into cationic Ag(L4)2 and anionic Ag5Pz6 subunits. All complexes obtained exhibit phosphorescence in the solid state. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations demonstrate their different possible emission processes, explaining their emission behavior as well as their lifetimes.

Abstract
A highly reactive electrophilic bromodifluoromethylthiolating reagent, α-cumyl bromodifluoro-methanesulfenate 1, was prepared to allow for direct bromodifluoromethylthiolation of aryl boron reagents. This coupling reaction takes place under copper catalysis, and affords a large range of bromodifluoromethylthiolated arenes. These compounds are amenable to various transformations including halogen exchange with [18 F]KF/K222 , a process giving access to [18 F]arylSCF3 in two steps from the corresponding aryl boronic pinacol esters.

Abstract
Novel composite materials PEn (n = 1-9) have been prepared by an easily up-scalable embedding procedure of three different families of Ag(I) acylpyrazolonato complexes in polyethylene (PE) matrix. In details, PE1-PE3 composites contain polynuclear [Ag(QR)]n complexes, PE4-PE6 contain mononuclear [Ag(QR)(L)m] complexes and PE7-PE9 are loaded with mononuclear [Ag(QR) (PPh3)2] complexes, respectively (where L = 1-methylimidazole or 2-ethylimidazole, m = 1 or 2, and HQR = 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-RC(═O)-5-pyrazolone, where in detail HQfb, R = -CF2CF2CF3; HQcy, R = -cyclo-C6H11; HQbe, R = -C(H)═C(CH3)2). The PEn composites, prepared by using a 1:1000 w/w silver additive/polyethylene ratio, have been characterized in bulk by IR spectroscopy and TGA analyses, which confirmed that the properties of polyethylene matrix are essentially unchanged. AFM, SEM, and EDX surface techniques show that silver additives form agglomerates with dimensions 10-100 μm on the polyethylene surface, with a slight increment of surface roughness of pristine plastic within 50 nm. However, the elastic properties of the composites are essentially the same of PE. The antibacterial activity of all composites has been tested against three bacterial strains (E. coli, P. aeruginosa and S. aureus) and results show that two classes of composites, PE1-PE3 and PE4-PE6, display high and persistent bactericidal and bacteriostatic activity, comparable to PE embedded with AgNO3. By contrast, composites PE7-PE9 exhibit a reduced antibacterial action. Contact and release tests in several conditions for specific migration of Ag+ from plastics, indicate a very limited but time persistent release of silver ions from PE1-PE6 composites, thus suggesting that they are potential antibacterial materials for future applications. Instead, PE7-PE9 almost do not release silver, only trace levels of silver ions being detected, in accordance with their reduced antibacterial action. None of the composites is toxic against higher organisms, as confirmed by D. magna test of ecotoxicity.

Abstract
Five new silver(I) complexes of formulas [Ag(Tpms)] (1), [Ag(Tpms)(PPh(3))] (2), [Ag(Tpms)(PCy(3))] (3), [Ag(PTA)][BF(4)] (4), and [Ag(Tpms)(PTA)] (5) {Tpms = tris(pyrazol-1-yl)methanesulfonate, PPh(3) = triphenylphosphane, PCy(3) = tricyclohexylphosphane, PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane} have been synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analyses, (1)H, (13)C, and (31)P NMR, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and IR spectroscopic techniques. The single crystal X-ray diffraction study of 3 shows the Tpms ligand acting in the N(3)-facially coordinating mode, while in 2 and 5 a N(2)O-coordination is found, with the SO(3) group bonded to silver and a pendant free pyrazolyl ring. Features of the tilting in the coordinated pyrazolyl rings in these cases suggest that this inequivalence is related with the cone angles of the phosphanes. A detailed study of antimycobacterial and antiproliferative properties of all compounds has been carried out. They were screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against the standard strains Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 29922), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), Streptococcus pneumoniae (ATCC 49619), Streptococcus pyogenes (SF37), Streptococcus sanguinis (SK36), Streptococcus mutans (UA159), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), and the fungus Candida albicans (ATCC 24443). Complexes 1-5 have been found to display effective antimicrobial activity against the series of bacteria and fungi, and some of them are potential candidates for antiseptic or disinfectant drugs. Interaction of Ag complexes with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has been studied by fluorescence spectroscopic techniques, using ethidium bromide (EB) as a fluorescence probe of DNA. The decrease in the fluorescence of DNA-EB system on addition of Ag complexes shows that the fluorescence quenching of DNA-EB complex occurs and compound 3 is particularly active. Complexes 1-5 exhibit pronounced antiproliferative activity against human malignant melanoma (A375) with an activity often higher than that of AgNO(3), which has been used as a control, following the same order of activity inhibition on DNA, i.e., 3 > 2 > 1 > 5 > AgNO(3)≫ 4.

Abstract
A variety of bicyclic N,N-disubstituted 2-aminopyridines have been prepared from diynes and cyanamides by nickel-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition reactions. The reactions proceeded at room temperature with low catalyst loading to afford 2-aminopyridines in good to excellent yields. The method is amenable to both internal and terminal diynes and proceeds in a regioselective manner. A number of cyanamides with diverse functional group tolerance were used. The intermolecular version employing 3-hexyne and N-cyanopyrrolidine also afforded the desired N,N-disubstituted 2-aminopyridine in good yield.

Abstract
The reaction of 2-acetylpyridine with silver(I) tetrafluoridoborate leads to the discrete title complex, [Ag(C7H7NO)2]BF4, in the cation of which the Ag atom is coordinated by two 2-acetylpyridine ligands, each of which is N,O-bidentate, albeit with stronger bonding to the N atoms [Ag—N = 2.2018 (15) and 2.2088 (14) Å; Ag—O = 2.5380 (13) and 2.5454 (13) Å]. The four-coordinate Ag atom has a seesaw coordination geometry with a τ4 index of 0.51. The tetrafluoridoborate anion is disordered over two orientations with 0.568 (10):0.432 (10) occupancies.
