Abstract
In the evolving landscape of water treatment, membrane technology has ascended to an instrumental role, underscored by its unmatched efficacy and ubiquity. Diverse synthesis and modification techniques are employed to fabricate state-of-the-art liquid separation membranes. Click reactions, distinguished by their rapid kinetics, minimal byproduct generation, and simple reaction condition, emerge as a potent paradigm for devising eco-functional materials. While the metal-free thiol-ene click reaction is acknowledged as a viable approach for membrane material innovation, a systematic elucidation of its applicability in liquid separation membrane development remains conspicuously absent. This review elucidates the pre-functionalization strategies of substrate materials tailored for thiol-ene reactions, notably highlighting thiolation and introducing unsaturated moieties. The consequential implications of thiol-ene reactions on membrane properties-including trade-off effect, surface wettability, and antifouling property-are discussed. The application of thiol-ene reaction in fabricating various liquid separation membranes for different water treatment processes, including wastewater treatment, oil/water separation, and ion separation, are reviewed. Finally, the prospects of thiol-ene reaction in designing novel liquid separation membrane, including pre-functionalization, products prediction, and solute-solute separation membrane, are proposed. This review endeavors to furnish invaluable insights, paving the way for expanding the horizons of thiol-ene reaction application in liquid separation membrane fabrication.

Abstract
The use of click chemistry as a smart and suitable method for the development of new heterogeneous catalysts is based on metal-organic frameworks as well as the production of organic compounds. The development of the click chemistry method can provide a new strategy to achieve superior properties of MOFs. Here, the two metals Co and Fe are used to create a bimetallic-organic framework. In the following, the click chemistry and postmodification method are well organized and an acidic heterogeneous porous catalyst is developed. This prepared catalyst was used as a highly efficient catalyst for the preparation of new spiro-oxindoles obtained through click chemistry with good to excellent yields (80-94%). This presented catalytic system can compete with the best reported catalytic systems. The findings showed that the presence of Co and Fe metals in the MOF, and the presence of the triazole ring on the catalyst, can increase the catalytic efficiencies. This study offers novel insights into the architecture of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), click chemistry, and biologically active compounds. Additionally, the research explores the antibacterial properties of the synthesized spiro-oxindoles and catalysts. The findings reveal significant antibacterial activities of the synthesized compounds against S. aureus, MRSA, and E. coli bacteria.

Abstract
Herein, a series of novel sulfur-containing functionalized disiloxanes based on a low-cost and commercially available material, i.e., 1,3-bis(3-glycidoxypropyl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane, and various thiol compounds were prepared by thiol-epoxy click reaction. It was found that both lithium hydroxide (LiOH) and tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF) have high catalytic activity after optimizing the reaction condition, and the reaction can be carried out with high yields, excellent regioselectivity, mild reaction condition, and good tolerance of functional groups. These compounds exhibit excellent nonconventional fluorescence due to the formation of coordination bonds between Si atoms and heteroatoms (e.g., S or N) and can emit blue fluorescence upon ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. These results demonstrate that the thiol-epoxy click reaction could promisingly act as an efficient organosilicon synthetic methodology to construct various organosilicon materials with novel structures and functionality, and thus their application scope will be significantly expanded.

Abstract
Being one important class in dendrimer chemistry, internally functionalized dendrimers (IFDs) are still exiguous. Here we demonstrate the first construction of IFDs involving fully substituted 1,2,3-triazole rings as interior functionality carriers. Through divergent or convergent synthetic protocols established on the efficient iridium-catalyzed annulation of internal 1-thioalkynes with organic azides (IrAAC), sequence-controlled heterolayered dendrimers with different branched structures are achieved in a convenient manner. 1 H NMR, MS and SEC characterizations well identify their architecture and high purity. Abstract
In this project, the new catalyst copper defines as Fe3O4@Pectin@(CH2)3-Acetamide-Cu(II) was successfully manufactured and fully characterized by different techniques, including FT-IR, XRD, TEM, FESEM, EDX, VSM, TGA, and ICP analysis. All results showed that copper was successfully supported on the polymer‐coated magnetic nanoparticles. One of the most important properties of a catalyst is the ability to be prepared from simple materials such as pectin that’s a biopolymer that is widely found in nature. The catalytic activity of Fe3O4@Pectin@(CH2)3-Acetamide-Cu(II) was examined in a classical, one pot, and the three-component reaction of terminal alkynes, alkyl halides, and sodium azide in water and observed, proceeding smoothly and completed in good yields and high regioselectivity. The critical potential interests of the present method include high yields, recyclability of catalyst, easy workup, using an eco-friendly solvent, and the ability to sustain a variety of functional groups, which give economical as well as ecological rewards. The capability of the nanocomposite was compared with previous works, and the nanocomposite was found more efficient, economical, and reproducible. Also, the catalyst can be easily removed from the reaction solution using an external magnet and reused for five runs without reduction in catalyst activity.

Abstract
Supramolecular structures, such as micelles, liposomes, polymerosomes or dendrimerosomes, are widely studied and used as drug delivery systems. The behavior of amphiphilic building blocks strongly depends on their spatial distribution and shape of polar and nonpolar component. This report is focused on the development of new versatile synthetic protocols for amphiphilic carbosilane dendrons (amp-CS-DDNs) capable of self-assembly to regular micelles and other supramolecular objects. The presented strategy enables the fine modification of amphiphilic structure in several ways and also enables the facile connection of a desired functionality. DLS experiments demonstrated correlations between structural parameters of amp-CS-DDNs and the size of formed nanoparticles. For detailed information about the organization and spatial distribution of amp-CS-DDNs assemblies, computer simulation models were studied by using molecular dynamics in explicit water.

Abstract
Abstract:
In this review, we report different methods and strategies to synthesize flexible and rigid dendronized porphyrins. We will focus on porphyrin dendrimers that have been reported in the last 10 years. Particularly, in our research group, we have designed and synthesized different series of dendronized porphyrins (free base and metallated) with pyrene units at the periphery and Fréchet-type dendritic arms. The Lindsey methodology has allowed the synthesis of meso-substituted porphyrins with various substitution patterns, such as symmetric, dissymmetric, or unsymmetric. Porphyrin dendrimers have been prepared by different synthetic methodologies; one of the most reported being the convergent method, where the dendrons are first prepared and further linked to a meso-substituted functionalized porphyrin unit, which will constitute the core of the dendrimer. Another interesting synthetic approach is the use of a reactive dendron bearing a terminal aldehyde functional group to form the final porphyrin core. In this way, a two-armed dendronized dissymmetric porphyrin core can be prepared from a dendritic precursor and a dipyrromethene derivative. This strategy is very convenient to prepare low-generation dendritic porphyrins. The divergent approach is another well-known methodology for porphyrin dendrimer synthesis, mostly used for the obtainment of high-generation dendrimers. Click chemistry reaction has been advantageous for the development of more complex porphyrin dendritic structures. This reaction presents important advantages, such as high yields and mild reaction conditions which permit the assembly of different multiporphyrin dendritic structures. In the constructs presented in this review, the emission of the porphyrin moiety has been observed, leading to potential applications in artificial photosynthesis, sensing, nanomedicine, and biological sciences.

Abstract
The photolytic radical-induced vicinal azidooxygenation of synthetically important and diverse functionalized substrates including unactivated alkenes is reported. The photoredox-catalyst/additive-free protocol enables intermolecular oxyazidation by simultaneously incorporating two new functionalities; C-O and C-N across the C=C double bond in a selective manner. Mechanistic investigations reveal the intermediacy of the azidyl radical facilitated via the photolysis of λ3-azidoiodane species and cascade proceeding to generate an active carbon-centered radical. The late-stage transformations of azido- and oxy-moieties were amply highlighted by assembling high-value drug analogs and bioactive skeletons.

Abstract
AB5 compounds issued from the reactivity of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene are relatively easy to obtain using two ways: either first the reaction of one chloride with one reagent, followed by the reaction of the five remaining Cl with another reagent, or first the reaction of five chlorides with one reagent, followed by the reaction of the single remaining Cl with another reagent. This particular property led to the use of such compounds as core for the synthesis of dendrons (dendritic wedges), using the five functions for growing the dendritic branches. The single function can be used for the synthesis of diverse types of dendrimers (onion peel, dumbbell-shape, Janus), for covalent or non-covalent grafting to solid surfaces, providing nanomaterials, for grafting a fluorophore, especially for studying biological mechanisms, or for self-associations to get micelles. All these properties are reviewed in this paper.

Abstract
A simple and practical method for the azidation of β-fluoroalkyl α,β-unsaturated ketones to access a wide variety of fluorinated nitrogenous carbonyl compounds is developed. Different from existing precedents, neither a metallic nor an organic catalyst was involved in our strategy. Judicious choice of solvents allows for the modulation of the reaction outcomes, delivering β-azido ketones or β-amino α-diazo ketones. The reaction system features environmental friendliness, mild conditions, simplicity and excellent functional group tolerance.

Abstract
The use of nanocarriers has been revealed as a valid strategy to facilitate drug bioavailability, and this allows for expanding the drug libraries for the treatment of certain diseases such as viral diseases. In the case of Hepatitis C, the compounds iopanoic acid and 3,3',5-triiodothyroacetic acid (or tiratricol) were identified in a primary screening as bioactive allosteric inhibitors of viral NS3 protease, but they did not exhibit accurate activity inhibiting viral replication in cell-based assays. In this work, dendritic nanocarriers are proposed due to their unique properties as drug delivery systems to rescue the bioactivity of these two drugs. Specifically, four different amphiphilic Janus dendrimers synthesized by combining 2,2'-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid (bis-MPA) and 2,2'-bis(glyciloxy)propionic acid (bis-GMPA) functionalized with either hydrophilic or lipophilic moieties at their periphery were used to entrap iopanoic acid and tiratricol. Interestingly, differences were found in the loading efficiencies depending on the dendrimer design, which also led to morphological changes of the resulting dendrimer aggregates. The most remarkable results consist of the increased water solubility of the bioactive compounds within the dendrimers and the improved antiviral activity of some of the dendrimer/drug aggregates, considerably improving antiviral activity in comparison to the free drugs. Moreover, imaging studies have been developed in order to elucidate the mechanism of cellular internalization.

Abstract
Thiols are important precursors for the synthesis of a variety of pharmaceutically important sulfur-containing compounds. In view of the versatile reactivity of free thiols, here we report the development of a visible light-mediated direct decarboxylative thiolation reaction of alkyl redox-active esters to free thiols based on the abundant carboxylic acid feedstock. This transformation is applicable to various carboxylic acids, including primary, secondary, and tertiary acids as well as natural products and drugs, forging a general and facile access to free thiols with diverse structures. Moreover, the direct access to free thiols affords an advantage of rapid in situ diversification with high efficiency to other important thiol derivatives such as sulfide, disulfide, thiocyanide, thioselenide, etc. Thiols are important precursors for the synthesis of a variety of pharmaceutically important sulfur-containing compounds. Here, the authors report a visible light-mediated decarboxylative thiolation of alkyl redox-active esters to free thiols and the in situ product diversification of a number of thiol derivatives.

Abstract
Nanostructured hyperbranched macromolecules have been extensively studied at the chemical, physical and morphological levels. The cellular structural and functional complexity of neural cells and their cross-talk have made it rather difficult to evaluate dendrimer effects in a mixed population of glial cells and neurons. Thus, we are at a relatively early stage of bench-to-bedside translation, and this is due mainly to the lack of data valuable for clinical investigations. It is only recently that techniques have become available that allow for analyses of biological processes inside the living cells, at the nanoscale, in real time. This review summarizes the essential properties of neural cells and dendrimers, and provides a cross-section of biological, pre-clinical and early clinical studies, where dendrimers were used as nanocarriers. It also highlights some examples of biological studies employing dendritic polyglycerol sulfates and their effects on glia and neurons. It is the aim of this review to encourage young scientists to advance mechanistic and technological approaches in dendrimer research so that these extremely versatile and attractive nanostructures gain even greater recognition in translational medicine.

Abstract
The Photorhabdus species is a Gram-negative bacteria of the family Morganellaceae that is known for its mutualistic relationship with Heterorhabditis nematodes and pathogenicity toward insects. This study is focused on the characterization of the recombinant lectin PLL3 with an origin in P. laumondii subsp. laumondii. PLL3 belongs to the PLL family of lectins with a seven-bladed β-propeller fold. The binding properties of PLL3 were tested by hemagglutination assay, glycan array, isothermal titration calorimetry, and surface plasmon resonance, and its structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. Obtained data revealed that PLL3 binds similar carbohydrates to those that the other PLL family members bind, with some differences in the binding properties. PLL3 exhibited the highest affinity toward l-fucose and its derivatives but was also able to interact with O-methylated glycans and other ligands. Unlike the other members of this family, PLL3 was discovered to be a monomer, which might correspond to a weaker avidity effect compared to homologous lectins. Based on the similarity to the related lectins and their proposed biological function, PLL3 might accompany them during the interaction of P. laumondii with both the nematode partner and the insect host.

Abstract
High-performance liquid chromatography integrated with tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) has become a powerful technique for proteomics research. Its performance heavily depends on the separation efficiency of HPLC, which in turn depends on the chromatographic material. As the "heart" of the HPLC system, the chromatographic material is required to achieve excellent column efficiency and fast analysis. Monolithic materials, fabricated as continuous supports with interconnected skeletal structure and flow-through pores, are regarded as an alternative to particle-packed columns. Such materials are featured with easy preparation, fast mass transfer, high porosity, low back pressure, and miniaturization, and are next-generation separation materials for high-throughput proteins and peptides analysis. Herein, the recent progress regarding the fabrication of various monolithic materials is reviewed. Special emphasis is placed on studies of the fabrication of monolithic capillary columns and their applications in separation of biomolecules by capillary liquid chromatography (cLC). The applications of monolithic materials in the digestion, enrichment, and separation of phosphopeptides and glycopeptides from biological samples are also considered. Finally, advances in comprehensive 2D HPLC separations using monolithic columns are also shown.

Abstract
We report the bidirectional enantioselective synthesis of bis-benzofuran atropisomeric oligoarenes featuring two distal C–C stereogenic axes. These are controlled by a two-fold central-to-axial chirality conversion upon oxidative aromatization.
We report the bidirectional enantioselective synthesis of bis-benzofuran atropisomeric oligoarenes featuring two distal C–C stereogenic axes obtained by a two-fold central-to-axial chirality conversion upon oxidative aromatization. The key enantioenriched centrally chiral bis-dihydrobenzofuran precursors were synthesized via a bidirectional diastereo- and enantio-selective organocatalyzed domino reaction between simple achiral and easily accessible dihydroxylated aromatics and chloronitroalkenes. Moreover, the stereodivergent nature of the methodology was established by synthesizing both diastereomers of a non-symmetrically functionalized bis-axially chiral oligoarene.

Abstract
Herein, we present an easy and efficient synthesis of amino terminal dendrons, combining protection/deprotection reactions with copper-catalyzed azide alkyne cycloaddition in a convergent way. This new approach affords dendrons in gram scale with excellent yields and easy purification. By choosing the appropriate azido-functionalized core, these dendrons lead to a more efficient and controlled convergent synthesis of dendrimers with different sizes and shapes and multivalence. The amino terminal dendrimers were analyzed by diffusion-ordered spectroscopy experiments. The observed dendrimer size is in excellent correlation with the expected size and shape by molecular dynamic simulations. The construction of these kinds of nanostructures, in a simple and efficient way, opens new opportunities for biomedical applications. Moreover, by choosing the appropriate core, these versatile macromolecules become an excellent fluorescent biomarker.

Abstract
The Cu(i)-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) in aqueous media using resorcin[4]arene glycoconjugate (RG) is reported. The eight β-d-glucopyranoside moieties constructed on the resorcin[4]arene upper rim provide a pseudo-saccharide cavity that offers a suitable host environment for water-insoluble hydrophobic azido and/or alkyne substrates in water. The utility of RG was established as an efficient inverse phase transfer catalyst for the CuAAC in water as a green approach for the synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole species. The catalytic utility of RG (1 mol%) was demonstrated in a multicomponent one-pot CuAAC for various azido/alkyne substrates. The RG acts as a molecular host and a micro-reactor resulting in the 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles in excellent yield. The Cu(i)-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) in aqueous media using resorcin[4]arene glycoconjugate (RG) is reported.![]()

Abstract
This chapter reviews the use of dendronized systems as nanocarriers for the delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs. Dendronized systems include dendrimers prepared through convergent methods as well as other systems containing dendrons (e.g., polymers, nanoparticles, liposomes). The preparation of such systems is detailed, followed by the various conjugation techniques used for the transport of chemotherapeutic drugs and their specific delivery to tumor cells. In addition, the ability of dendronized systems to provide passive and active targeting to tumors is discussed. The efficacy of drug delivery using dendronized systems is also illustrated through specific examples of kinetic and biological studies. Finally, the newest trends in conjugation of the most common chemotherapeutics to dendronized systems are described. Overall, this chapter highlights dendronized systems as a way to improve the therapeutic efficiency of drugs for the treatment of cancer. All the recent developments in areas, such as biodegradable dendrimers, modifications to enhance biocompatibility, selectively cleavable drug conjugations, ligand-mediated targeting, and the potential for multifunctional properties, show promises for future advances in cancer therapy.

Abstract
The C-type lectin DC-SIGN expressed on immature dendritic cells is a promising target for antiviral drug development. Previously, we have demonstrated that mono- and divalent C-glycosides based on d-manno and l-fuco configurations are promising DC-SIGN ligands. Here, we described the convergent synthesis of C-glycoside dendrimers decorated with 4, 6, 9, and 12 α-l-fucopyranosyl units and with 9 and 12 α-d-mannopyranosyl units. Their affinity against DC-SIGN was assessed by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assays. For comparison, parent O-glycosidic dendrimers were synthesized and tested, as well. A clear increase of both affinity and multivalency effect was observed for C-glycomimetics of both types (mannose and fucose). However, when dodecavalent C-glycosidic dendrimers were compared, there was no difference in affinity regarding the sugar unit (l-fuco, IC50 17 μM; d-manno, IC50 12 μM). For the rest of glycodendrimers with l-fucose or d-mannose attached by the O- or C-glycosidic linkage, C-glycosidic dendrimers were significantly more active. These results show that in addition to the expected physiological stability, the biological activity of C-glycoside mimetics is higher in comparison to the corresponding O-glycosides and therefore these glycomimetic multivalent systems represent potentially promising candidates for targeting DC-SIGN.

Abstract
Dentromers (from dentro, δεντρο: tree in Greek), and meros (μεροσ, in greek: part) are introduced as a family of dendrimers constructed according to successive divergent 1 → 3 branching. The smaller dentromers have 27 terminal branches. With alcohol termini they were originally named arborols by Newkome, who pioneered 1 → 3 constructions of dendrimers and dendrons. Giant dentromers have been constructed and decorated in particular with ferrocene and other redox active groups. The synthesis, specific properties, and applications are examined in this mini review article dedicated to Don Tomalia, with an emphasis on dense peripheral packing favoring the functions of encapsulation, redox sensing, and micellar template for catalysis in water and aqueous solvents.
