Abstract
Several dinuclear thiophenolato-bridged arene ruthenium complexes [(η6-p-MeC6H4Pri)2Ru2(μ2-SC6H4-R)3]+ (R = H, NO2, F) could so far only be obtained in fair yields using the synthetic route established in the early 2000s. With much less reactive aliphatic thiols or with bulky thiols, the reactions become even less efficient and the desired complexes are obtained with low yields or not at all. We employed density functional theory (DFT) calculations to gain a fundamental understanding of the reaction mechanisms leading to the formation of dithiolato and trithiolato complexes starting from the dichloro(p-cymene)ruthenium(ii) dimer [(η6-p-MeC6H4Pri)Ru(μ2-Cl)Cl]2. The results of the DFT study enabled us to rationalise the experimental results and allowed us, via a modified synthetic route, to synthesise previously unreported and hitherto considered as unrealistic complexes. Our study opens up possibilities for the synthesis of so far inaccessible thiolato-bridged dinuclear arene ruthenium(ii) complexes but more generally, also the synthesis of other thiolato-bridged dinuclear group 8 and 9 metal complexes could be reexamined. We used DFT calculations to understand the reaction mechanisms leading to the formation of dinuclear thiophenolato-bridged arene ruthenium complexes. DFT prompted us to modify the usual synthetic route, which enabled the synthesis of new complexes.![]()

Abstract
A novel well-defined thiolate-bridged dicobalt azido complex is converted to a rare sulfilimide-bridged dicobalt complex via nitrogen atom migratory insertion into the Co-S bond upon thermolysis. Intriguingly, the homolytic cleavage of hydrogen is achieved by this azide under mild conditions to furnish a partially hydrogenated azido complex.

Abstract
The treatment of [Cp*Fe(μ-η2:η4-bdt)FeCp*] (1, Cp* = η5-C5Me5, bdt = benzene-1,2-dithiolate) with 1/4 equiv. of elemental sulfur (S8) gave a dinuclear iron-sulfur cluster [Cp*Fe(μ-η2:η2-bdt)(cis-μ-η1:η1-S2)FeCp*] (2), which contains a cis-1,2-disulfide ligand. When complex 2 further interacted with 1/8 equiv. of S8, another sulfur atom inserted into an Fe-S bond to give a rare product [Cp*Fe(μ-S(C6H4S2))(cis-μ-η1:η1-S2)FeCp*] (3). Unexpectedly, a trans-1,2 disulfide-bridged diiron complex [{Cp*Fe(bdt)}2(trans-μ-η1:η1-S2)] (4) was isolated from the reaction of complex 1 with 1/2 equiv. of S8, which represents a structural isomer of [2Fe-2S] ferredoxin-type clusters. In addition, cis-1,2-disulfide-bridged complex 3 can slowly convert into trans-1,2-disulfide-bridged complex 4 and the complex [Cp*Fe(μ-η2:η2-S2)(cis-μ-η1:η1-S2)FeCp*] (5) by self-assembly reaction at ambient temperature, which is evidenced by time-dependent 1H NMR spectroscopy.

Zirconium complexes incorporated with asymmetrical tridentate pincer type mono- and di-anionic pyrrolyl ligands: mechanism and reactivity as catalytic precursors. Dalton Trans 2012; 41:7700-7. Abstract
The reactions of Zr(NR(2))(4) (1, R = Me; 2, R = Et) with an asymmetrical tridentate pincer type pyrrole ligand precursor [C(4)H(2)NH(2-CH(2)NH(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))] and treatment of the derivatives with either PhNCS or PhNCO have been carried out and characterized. Reacting Zr(NR(2))(4) (1, R = Me; 2, R = Et) with [C(4)H(2)NH(2-CH(2)NH(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))] generates Zr[C(4)H(2)N(2-CH(2)N(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))](NR(2))(2) (3, R = Me; 4, R = Et) in high yield along with the elimination of 2 equiv of dimethylamine or diethylamine, respectively. Interestingly, while changing the solvent from Et(2)O to CH(2)Cl(2), the complex Zr[C(4)H(2)N(2-CH(2)N(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))][C(4)H(2)N(2-CH(2)NH(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))]Cl (5) is produced by undergoing C-Cl bond cleavage. Furthermore, reaction of either 3 or 4 with 1 or 2 equiv of PhNCS or PhNCO yields Zr[C(4)H(2)N(2-CH(2)N(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))](NMe(2))[PhNC(NMe(2))S] (6), Zr[C(4)H(2)N(2-CH(2)N(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))](NEt(2))[PhNC(NEt(2))O] (7) and Zr[C(4)H(2)N(2-CH(2)NH(t)Bu)(5-CH(2)NMe(2))][PhNC(NEt(2))O](3) (8), respectively. All the aforementioned complexes were characterized by (1)H and (13)C NMR spectrometry and the molecular structures of 5, 6, and 8 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffractometry. Complexes 4, 5, and 7 initiated the ethylene polymerization in the presence of MAO as the co-catalyst.

Abstract
The catalytic photocleavage of CS(2) to S(8) and a (C(x)S(y))(n) polymer with visible light using a dinuclear ruthenium(II) compound with a bipyridine units for photoactivity and a vicinal tertiary amine binding site for CS(2) activation was studied. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction, (1)H NMR, and (13)C NMR, ESI-MS and elemental analysis. CS(2) photocleavage was significant (240 turnovers, 20 h) to yield isolable S(8) and a (C(x)S(y))(n) polymer. A mononuclear catalyst or one without an amine binding site showed significantly less activity. XPS of the (C(x)S(y))(n) polymer showed a carbon/sulfur ratio ∼1.5-1.6 indicating that in part both C-S bonds of CS(2) had been cleaved. Catalyst was also included within the polymer. The absence of peaks in the (1)H NMR verified the (C(x)S(y))(n) nature of the polymer, while (13)C NMR and IR indicated that the polymer had multiple types of C-S and C-C bonds.
