Abstract
Two new metal coordination complexes, namely, poly[aqua(μ6-benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid-κ8O1:O1,O2:O2':O4:O4,O5:O5')(μ-but-2-enedioato-κ2O1:O4)potassium(I)], [K2(C4H2O4)(C10H6O8)(H2O)2]n or [K2(fum)(H4btec)(H2O)2]n, (1), and poly[aqua(μ8-2,5-dicarboxybenzene-1,4-dicarboxylato-κ12O1:O1',O2:O2,O2':O2':O4:O4',O5:O5,O5':O5')(μ-ethanedioato-κ4O1,O2:O1',O2')strontium(II)], [Sr2(C2O4)(C10H4O8)(H2O)2]n or [Sr2(ox)(H2btec)(H2O)2]n, (2) (H4btec = benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid, H2btec = 2,5-dicarboxybenzene-1,4-dicarboxylate, fum = fumarate and ox = oxalate), have been obtained under hydrothermal conditions by reacting the different alkali and alkaline earth metal salts with H4btec, fumaric acid (H2fum) and oxalic acid (H2ox). Complexes (1) and (2) were structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetic analysis-differential scanning calorimetry (TGA-DSC). Complex (1) displays a two-dimensional (2D) layer with the K+ ion in a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal geometry and exhibits a uninodal 6-connected hxl/Shubnikov plane net (3,6) with {36.46.53} topology. Complex (2) displays a three-dimensional (3D) network structure, in which the Sr2+ ion is in a distorted monocapped square antiprism geometry. The framework possess a binodal (5,8)-connected net with the Schläfli symbol {32.410.58.64.74}{32.46.52}2. The 3D Hirshfeld surfaces and 2D fingerprint plots show that the main interactions are the O...H/H...O intermolecular interactions. Moreover, the thermal decompositions of (1) and (2) in the temperature range 303-1273 K revealed that they both decompose in three steps and transform to the corresponding metal oxide.

Abstract
The study presents a rational synthesis of new dimethyltin carboxylates, Me2Sn(H2btec) (1), Me2Sn(btec)0.5(2), [Me2Sn(H2O)2(btec)0.5]·H2O (3), and [{Me2SnOSn(OH)Me2}(Me2SnOH)(btec)0.5]·H2O (4), derived from tetratopic 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (H4btec). The method relies upon hydrothermal reaction (130 °C, 72 h) of dimethyltin dichloride and H4btec under optimized pH (2 < pH < 8) conditions that allow control over dimethyltin speciation in aqueous medium as well as degree of deprotonation of the tetrafuntional carboxylic acid. The formation of a three-dimensional assembly in 1 is assisted by the bridging bidentate (μ2) mode of the carboxylate and O-H···O hydrogen bonds involving -COOH groups. The structure represents a unique example of the diorganotin framework derived from a partially deprotonated polyfuntional carboxylic acid. The structure of 2 adopts a three-dimensional motif wherein each pair of μ2-carboxylate groups (designated by C1 and C4) of the tetraanionic ligand form different spatial arrangements. For 3, the formation of one-dimensional motif with eight-coordinated tin atoms is assisted by the anisobidentate character of the carboxylate groups. The structure of 4 includes linear chains comprised of [Me2Sn(μ2-OH)]2 and the carboxylate ligand which extend to a layered motif with symmetrically substituted ladder-like distannoxanes acting as linkers. The underlying nets of 1, 2, and 4 exhibit sqc11, scu(sqc170), and sql topologies, respectively. Notably, these assemblies are extremely robust and show no sign of degradation upon exposure to neutral as well as weakly acidic/basic aqueous medium for 7 days.

, (2), using the solution evaporation method. Both (1) and (2) were characterized by FT–IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis (EA), solid-state diffuse-reflectance UV–Vis spectroscopy, and powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Complex (1) shows a two-dimensional (2D) corrugated layer simplified as a 2D (4,4) topological network. The supramolecular interactions (π–π stacking, hydrogen bonding and C—Br...Br halogen bonding) play significant roles in the formation of an extended three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular network of (1). Complex (2) crystallizes in the chiral space group P212121 and exhibits a novel 3D homochiral framework, showing a diamond-like topology with Schläfli symbol 66. The homochirality of (2) is further confirmed by the solid-state circular dichroism (CD) spectrum. The second harmonic generation (SHG) property of (2) was also investigated. The hydrogen and C—Br...Br/O halogen bonding further stabilize the framework of (2). The central ZnII ions in (1) and (2) show tetrahedral and octahedral coordination geometries, respectively. The coordinated and uncoordinated water molecules in (2) could be removed selectively upon heating. Most importantly, (1) and (2) show rapid and highly sensitive sensing for a large pool of nitroaromatic explosives (NAEs).

Abstract
Four new coordination polymers, {[Zn(3-PBI)(H2O)]·2DMF}n (1), [Cd(3-PBI)(DMF)]n (2), {[Zn4(μ4-O)(4-PBI)3]·3DMF}n (3), {[Cd4(4-PBI)4(H2O)6]·13H2O}n (4), have been constructed from two isomeric flexible multi-carboxylate ligands, 3-H2PBI = 5-(3-(pyridin-3-yl)benzamido)isophthalic acid and 4-H2PBI = 5-(3-(pyridin-4-yl)benzamido)isophthalic acid. Structural analysis reveals that compound 1 is a one-dimensional (1D) ladder-like chain assembled by Zn(ii) ions and 3-PBI2− ligands, which further extend into a 3D supramolecular structure through π⋯π stacking and interlayer (O–H⋯O) hydrogen bonding interactions. In compound 2, Cd2+ metal ions are connected by carboxylate groups to form [Cd2(COO)4] secondary building units (SBUs). The whole framework possesses a quadrilateral channel and constitutes a unique 3D (3,6)-connected rutile net with the Schläfli symbol of (42·610·83)(4·62)2. As for 3, Zn(ii) ions are bridged by one μ4-O and six carboxylate groups to form a tetranuclear [Zn4(μ4-O)(COO)6] cluster, resulting in a rare (3,9)-connected 3D network. Compound 4 has an appealing 2D layered architecture involving two distinct topologies in the crystal structure, stacking in an unusual ABBABB mode (where A represents (4·82) topology and B denotes kgd topology). Moreover, compound 2 is prepared as a support for active selenium through a melt-diffusion method. The obtained Cd-CP/Se electrode can be tested for lithium–selenium batteries and shows an initial capacity of 514 mA h g−1 and a reversible capacity of 200 mA h g−1 at 1C after 500 cycles. The good storage performance of Cd-CP/Se demonstrates it to be a prospective cathode material for lithium–selenium batteries. Four new coordination polymers were constructed and compound 2 was used as a host to active selenium for Li–Se batteries.![]()

Abstract
Molecular-based ionic co-crystals, which have the merits of low-cost/easy fabrication processes and flexible structure and functionality, have already exhibited tremendous potential in molecular memory switches and other electric devices. However, dipole (ON/OFF switching) triggering is a huge challenge. Here, we introduce a pendulum-like dynamic strategy to induce the order-disorder transition of a co-crystal [C5 H7 N3 Cl]3 [Sb2 Br9 ] (compound 1). Here, the anion and cation act as a stator and a pendulum-like rotor (the source of the dielectric switch), respectively. The temperature-dependent dielectric and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analyses reveal that 1 undergoes a reversible phase transition, which stems from the order-disorder transition of the cations. The thermal ON/OFF switchable motions make 1 a promising candidate to promote the development of bulk crystals as artificial intelligent dielectric materials. In addition, the pendulum-like molecular dynamics and distinct arrangements of two coexisting ions with a notable offset effect promotes/hinders dipolar reorientation after dielectric transition and provides a rarely observed but fairly useful and feasible strategy for understanding and modulating the dipole motion in crystalline electrically polarizable materials.

Abstract
The bromo-substituted aromatic dicarboxylic acid 5-amino-2,4,6-tribromoisophthalic acid (H2ATBIP) was used to assemble with CdII ions in the presence of the N-donor flexible bipyridyl ligands 3,3'-(diazene-1,2-diyl)dipyridine (mzpy) and 1,3-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)urea (3bpmu), leading to the formation of two chain coordination polymers by adopting solution methods, namely, catena-poly[[[triaqua(5-amino-2,4,6-tribromoisophthalato-κO)cadmium(II)]-μ-3,3'-(diazene-1,2-diyl)dipyridine-κ2N1:N1'] dihydrate], {[Cd(C8H2Br3NO4)(C10H8N4)(H2O)3]·2H2O}n or {[Cd(ATBIP)(mzpy)(H2O)3]·2H2O}n, (1), and catena-poly[[[tetraaquacadmium(II)]-μ-1,3-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)urea-κ2N1:N1'-[diaquabis(5-amino-2,4,6-tribromoisophthalato-κO)cadmium(II)]-μ-1,3-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethyl)urea-κ2N1:N1'] octahydrate], {[Cd(C8H2Br3NO4)(C12H12N4O)(H2O)3]·4H2O}n or {[Cd(ATBIP)(3bpmu)(H2O)3]·4H2O}n, (2). Both complexes were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopic analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), solid-state diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectroscopic analysis, and single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis (PXRD). The mzpy and 3bpmu ligands bridge the CdII metal centres in (1) and (2) into one-dimensional chains, and the ATBIP2- ligands show a monodentate coordination to the CdII centres in both coordination polymers. A discrete water tetramer exists in (1). Within the chains of (1) and (2), there are halogen bonds between adjacent ATBIP2- and mzpy or 3bpmu ligands, as well as hydrogen bonds between the ATBIP2- ligands and the coordinated water molecules. With the aid of weak interactions, the structures of (1) and (2) are further extended into three-dimensional supramolecular networks. An analysis of the solid-state diffuse reflectance UV-Vis spectra of (1) and (2) indicates that a wide indirect band gap exists in both complexes. Complexes (1) and (2) exhibit irreversible and reversible dehydration-rehydration behaviours, respectively, and the solid-state fluorescence properties of both complexes have been studied.

Abstract
Two new Cu(II) coordination polymers [Cu(Fbtx)(H2btec)(H2O)2]n and {[Cu(Fbtx)(btec)0.5(H2O)2]·H2O}n have been synthesised by hydrothermal reactions of Cu(II) nitrate with 1,4-bis(1,2,4-triazole-1-ylmethyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzene (Fbtx) and 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (H4btec) under different pH conditions. The first complex has a two-dimensional four-connected layer structure with a 44-sql topology, whereas the second has a two-dimensional three-connected brick-wall network. The luminescence properties of the complexes in the solid state and their thermal stabilities have also been studied.
