Abstract
White organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) hold vast prospects in the fields of next-generation displays and solid-state lighting. Ultrathin emitting layers (UEMLs) have become a research hotspot because of their unique advantage. On the basis of simplifying the device structure and preparation process, they can achieve electroluminescent performance comparable to that of doped devices. In this review, we first discuss the working principles and advantages of WOLEDs based on UEML architecture, which can achieve low cost and more flexibility by simplifying the device structure and preparation process. Subsequently, the successful applications of doping and non-doping technologies in fluorescent, phosphorescent, and hybrid WOLEDs combined with UEMLs are discussed, and the operation mechanisms of these WOLEDs are emphasized briefly. We firmly believe that this article will bring new hope for the development of UEML-based WOLEDs in the future.

Abstract
We report the investigation of plasmonic effect of array of aluminum nanoparticles (Al-NPs) on blue micro-OLED subject to exciplex emission. N,N'-Di(1-naphthyl)-N,N'-diphenyl-(1,1'-biphenyl)-4,4'-diamine (NPB) andcarbazol derivative 4,4'-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1'-biphenyl (CBP) have been used as the emitting layer (EML) and hole transport layer (HTL), respectively. For the reference µ-OLED without Al-NPs, we observed two emission peaks attributed to CBP emission and exciplex emission formed at the NPB/CBP (EML/HTL) interface. By the incorporation of the Al-NPs array, obtained by e-beam lithography technique on the ITO anode, the exciplex emission has been widely depressed. Moreover, thanks to localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), an enhancement of the CBP emission has been achieved indicating an efficient energy coupling between the LSPR of the Al-NPs and the CBP excitons. Thus, an enhancement of about 20% of the efficiency of the µ-OLED with Al-NPs in comparison to the reference device has been obtained.

Abstract
A series of 2,2'-bipyrimidine-bridged dinuclear lanthanide complexes with the general formula [Ln(tmhd)3]2bpm (tmhd = 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate, bpm = 2,2'-bipyrimidine, Ln = Gd(III), 1; Tb(III), 2; Dy(III), 3; Ho(III), 4 and Er(III), 5) has been synthesized and characterized. Sublimation of [Tb(tmhd)3]2bpm onto a Au(111) surface leads to the formation of a homogeneous film with hexagonal pattern, which was studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The bulk magnetic properties of all complexes have been studied comprehensively. The dynamic magnetic behavior of the Dy(III) and Er(III) compounds clearly exhibits single molecule magnet (SMM) characteristics with an energy barrier of 97 and 25 K, respectively. Moreover, micro-SQUID measurements on single crystals confirm their SMM behavior with the presence of hysteresis loops.

Abstract
The synthesis and magnetic properties of three new bipyrimidyl radical-bridged dilanthanide complexes, [(Cp*(2)Ln)(2)(μ-bpym(•))](+) (Ln = Gd, Tb, Dy), are reported. Strong Ln(III)-bpym(•-) exchange coupling is observed for all species, as indicated by the increases in χ(M)T at low temperatures. For the Gd(III)-containing complex, a fit to the data reveals antiferromagnetic coupling with J = -10 cm(-1) to give an S = (13)/(2) ground state. The Tb(III) and Dy(III) congeners show single-molecule magnet behavior with relaxation barriers of U(eff) = 44(2) and 87.8(3) cm(-1), respectively, a consequence of the large magnetic anisotropies imparted by these ions. Significantly, the latter complex exhibits a divergence of the field-cooled and zero-field-cooled dc susceptibility data at 6.5 K and magnetic hysteresis below this temperature.

The Utility of 2,2′-Bipyrimidine in Lanthanide Chemistry: From Materials Synthesis to Structural and Physical Properties. ACTA ACUST UNITED AC 2011. Abstract
This paper reviews the recent investigations undertaken on the use of 2,2′-bipyrimidine (bpm) as a ligand for designing molecular complexes as well as polymeric lanthanide materials. A special emphasis is put on the ability of this polydentate neutral ligand to yield compounds of various dimensionalities, to act as a connector between these large ions, and influence their emissive and magnetic properties. This ligand can adopt a terminal or a bridging coordination mode with lanthanide ions, thus generating a wealth of frameworks of various topologies with the 4f elements. The main focus of this review is to show the originality brought by bpm in lanthanide structural chemistry and solid-state photophysics and magnetism.

Abstract
Reaction between EuCl(2) and 2,2'-bipyrimidine (bpm) in de-oxygenated water afforded a cationic molecular complex [EuCl(bpm)(2)(H(2)O)(4)][Cl]·H(2)O (1). When performed in an organic solvent such as THF or methanol, the same reaction yielded a 3-dimensional coordination polymer of formula [EuCl(2)(bpm)(MeOH)(0.5)](∞) (2) in which both bpm and the chloride ions act as linkers between the Eu(II) ions. Upon replacing Cl(-) by I(-), two coordination polymers of formula {[Eu(bpm)(2)(H(2)O)(3)][I](2)·0.5bpm}(∞) (3) and {[Eu(I)(bpm)(MeOH)][I]}(∞) (4) were obtained from reaction in water and methanol, respectively. All these compounds were characterized by X-ray crystallography. Investigations of the magnetic properties revealed a weak antiferromagnetic coupling in 2, while 3 and 4 showed a weak ferromagnetic coupling at low temperature.
