Abstract
p-Benzoquinones are important organic intermediates in the synthesis of biopharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. In this study, two crystalline 3D polyoxovanadate-based metal-organic frameworks, H[Cu(tpi)2]{Cu2V7O21}·H2O (1, tpi = C18N5H13) and [Co(Htpi)2]{V4O12} (2, Htpi = C18N5H14), were synthesized, which as heterogeneous catalysts showed excellent catalytic activities for the synthesis of p-benzoquinones. Both compounds were characterized by IR, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, TG, XPS, X-ray diffraction, etc. In 1, {Cu2V7} clusters are connected together by copper cations and 1D Cu-organic coordination chains to yield a 3D polyoxometalate-based metal-organic framework (POMOF); in 2, adjacent 2D bimetallic oxide layers, constructed from 1D polyoxovanadate chains and cobalt ions, are further connected by 1D Co-organic coordination chains to form a 3D POMOF. Noteworthily, in the synthesis of trimethyl-p-benzoquinone, the key intermediate of vitamin E, using 2,3,6-trimethylphenol as the model substrate, the turnover frequency values for compounds 1 and 2 can, respectively, reach 607 and 380 h-1 in 8 min. Furthermore, both compounds demonstrated excellent recyclability and structural stability, characterized by PXRD and IR. The catalytic mechanism reveals that both the homolytic radical mechanism and heterolytic oxygen atom transfer mechanism are involved.

Abstract
Molecular metal oxides often adopt common structural frameworks (i.e. archetypes), many of them boasting impressive structural robustness and stability. However, the ability to adapt and to undergo transformations between different structural archetypes is a desirable material design feature offering applicability in different environments. Using systems thinking approach that integrates synthetic, analytical and computational techniques, we explore the transformations governing the chemistry of polyoxovanadates (POVs) constructed of arsenate and vanadate building units. The water-soluble salt of the low nuclearity polyanion [V6As8O26]4− can be effectively used for the synthesis of the larger spherical (i.e. kegginoidal) mixed-valent [V12As8O40]4− precipitate, while the novel [V10As12O40]8− POVs having tubular cyclic structures are another, well soluble product. Surprisingly, in contrast to the common observation that high-nuclearity polyoxometalate (POM) clusters are fragmented to form smaller moieties in solution, the low nuclearity [V6As8O26]4− anion is in situ transformed into the higher nuclearity cluster anions. The obtained products support a conceptually new model that is outlined in this article and that describes a continuous evolution between spherical and cyclic POV assemblies. This new model represents a milestone on the way to rational and designable POV self-assemblies. Systems-based elucidation of the polyoxovanadate speciation reveals that heterogroup substitution can transform spherical kegginoids into tubular architectures in a programmable manner.![]()

Abstract
Six new organic-inorganic hybrid compounds based on [XM12O40](4-) (X = heteroatom, M = metal atom), namely [Cu(pic)2][H2XM12O40]·2Hapy·2apy (X = Si, M = W for , X = Ge, M = W for and X = Si, M = Mo for ), [Cu(2,2'-bpy)2][Cu(2,2'-bpy)(H2O)][Cu(pic)2]0.5[XM12O40]·nH2O (X = Si, M = Mo, n = 0.5 for , X = Ge, M = W, n = 1 for ) and [Cu(phen)(H2O)]2[Cu(pic)2][GeW12O40]·2.5H2O () (pic = deprotonated picolinic acid, apy = 2-aminopyridine, 2,2'-bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = phenanthroline), have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XRD, cyclic voltammetric measurements and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compounds are isomorphous and isostructural, in which each is based on [H2XM12O40](2-) and [Cu(pic)2]. Compounds and are also isomorphous and isostructural, of which the structures are more interesting than those of compounds . Both structures are constructed from [XM12O40](4-) and metal mixed-organic-ligand complexes. Compound is also constructed from Keggin ions and metal mixed-organic-ligand complexes, which are, however, thoroughly different from those of compounds and . The photodegradation properties of compounds have been analyzed. Compounds also exhibit rapid absorption properties for RhB (Rhodamine B). Detailed analysis of the photodegradation properties of compounds reveals that the molybdate POM has stronger degradation ability for RhB than the tungstate one.

Abstract
Polyoxovanadates (POVs), known for their wide applicability and relevance in chemical, physical and biological sciences, are a subclass of polyoxometalates and usually self-assemble in aqueous-phase, pH-controlled condensation reactions. Archetypical POVs such as the robust [VO42](12-) polyoxoanion can be structurally, electronically and magnetically altered by heavier group 14 and 15 elements to afford Si-, Ge-, As- or Sb-decorated POV structures (heteroPOVs). These main-group semimetals introduce specific chemically engineered functionalities which cause the generally hydrophilic heteroPOV compounds to exhibit interesting reactivity towards organic molecules, late transition metal and lanthanoid ions. The fully-oxidised (V(V)), mixed-valent (V(V)/V(IV) and V(IV)/V(III)), "fully-reduced" (V(IV)) and "highly-reduced" (V(III)) heteroPOVs possess a number of intriguing properties, ranging from catalytic to molecular magnet characteristics. Herein, we review key developments in the synthetic and structural chemistry as well as the reactivity of POVs functionalised with Si-, Ge-, As- or Sb-based heterogroups.
