Palladium-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reactions of Borylated Alkenes for the Stereoselective Synthesis of Tetrasubstituted Double Bond

The stereoselective formation of tetrasubstituted alkenes remains one of the key goals of modern organic synthesis. In addition to other methods, the stereoselective synthesis of tetrasubstituted alkenes can be achieved by means of cross-coupling reactions of electrophilic and nucleophilic alkene templates. The use of electrophilic templates for the stereoselective synthesis of tetrasubstituted alkenes has previously been described. Therefore, the present review summarizes the procedures available for the stereoselective preparation of tetrasubstituted alkenes using stable and isolable nucleophilic templates.

Novel carbon nanofiber-supported Ni(0) nanoparticles catalyse the Heck reaction under ligand-free conditions

Ni(0)/CNFs was one-dimensional morphology, and the average size of Ni nanoparticles sheathed by CNFs is 14 nm. Solid Ni(0)/CNFs can catalyse Heck reaction high-efficiently.

Palladium-catalyzed α-arylation of aryloxyketones for the synthesis of 2,3-disubstituted benzofurans

A highly efficient palladium-catalyzed α-arylation of aryloxyketones has been developed, allowing for facile installation of various (hetero)aryl groups at C2 position in good to excellent yields. Subsequent cyclodehydration of the resulting α-arylated aryloxyketones provided rapid access to diverse 2,3-disubstitured benzofurans.

A novel, facile approach to frondosin B and 5-epi-liphagal via a new [4 + 3]-cycloaddition

A new [4 + 3]-cycloaddition between benzofuran allylic alcohols and dienes, promoted by camphorsulfonic acid, has been identified. A novel strategy which used this cycloaddition as a key step has been developed for the synthesis of 6,7,5-tricyclic skeleta, and syntheses toward frondosin B (1) and 5-epi-liphagal (2) have been achieved via short routes in good yields.

Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling of α-(acyloxy)-tri-n-butylstannanes with alkenyl, aryl, and heteroaryl electrophiles

Racemic and scalemic α-(acyloxy)-tri-n-butylstannanes undergo Pd-catalyzed cross-couplings with alkenyl/aryl/heteroaryl iodides, bromides, and triflates in moderate to good yields in THF at 45 °C. Simple aryl iodides and unprotected aza-arenes, two classes of electrophiles that typically react sluggishly, are also good substrates. Cross-couplings proceed with retention of configuration at the alkenyl and stannyl-substituted stereocenters.
