Abstract
We, herein, report the synthesis of 13 C2 -labeled natural products from the mugineic acid and avenic acid family. These phytosiderophores ("plant iron carriers") are built up from non-proteinogenic amino acids and play a key role in micronutrient uptake in gramineous plants. In this work, two central building blocks are prepared from labeled starting materials (13 C2 -bromoacetic acid, 13 C2 -glycine) and further employed in our recently reported divergent, branched synthetic strategy delivering eight isotopically labeled phytosiderophores. The required labeled building blocks (13 C2 -l-allylglycine and a related hydroxylated derivative) were prepared via enantioselective phase-transfer catalysis and enantio- and diastereoselective aldol condensation with a chiral auxiliary, respectively, both potentially valuable themselves for other synthetic routes toward labeled (natural) products.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Coronary artery disease possess inflammatory background related to enzymatic processes with trace elements involvements as co-factors. The aim of the study was to compare serum, urine and salivary copper, magnesium, calcium and zinc levels with inflammatory indices obtained from the whole blood count in patients with complex coronary artery disease. MATERIAL AND METHOD Fifty-two (42(81 %) males, 10 (19 %) females) consecutive patients (mean (SD) age 68 (9) years with symptomatic complex coronary artery disease were enrolled into prospective single center study in 2021. Serum, saliva and urine samples were collected at the day of admission for trace elements concentration (copper, zinc, magnesium, calcium) and compared with inflammatory indexes obtained from preoperative and perioperative period. RESULTS Multivariable regression analysis revealed relation between the copper serum concentration and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and systemic inflammatory index (SII). CONCLUSION Serum copper concentration interplay with preoperative inflammatory activation in complex coronary disease measured by NLR and SII. The copper serum concentration possesses the strongest relation to preoperative inflammatory activation in patients reffered for off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.

Abstract
Among my recent work on the syntheses of complex natural products based on the development of a novel synthetic method for the heteroaromatic skeleton, this article primarily deals with the total syntheses of (+)-CC-1065, isobatzeline A/B, and batzeline A. These syntheses were accomplished via a novel indole synthesis utilizing a ring expansion reaction of benzocyclobutenone oxime sulfonate as the key step. The 1,2-dihydro-3H-pyrrolo[3,2-e]indole segments of (+)-CC-1065 were rapidly constructed via a two-directional double-ring expansion strategy. Highly substituted pyrrolidine-fused common 5-chloro-2-methylthioindoles of isobatzeline A/B and batzeline A were constructed using a ring expansion reaction of benzocyclobutenone oxime sulfonate with NaSMe and a benzyne-mediated cyclization/functionalization reaction.

Abstract
An indole synthesis via ring expansion of benzocyclobutenone oxime sulfonate was developed. Utility of the indole synthesis was demonstrated by the total synthesis of (+)-CC-1065. The middle and right segments were constructed by a sequential ring expansion of the symmetrical benzo-bis-cyclobutenone. The left segment was also constructed via ring expansion of the methyl-substituted benzocyclobutenone oxime sulfonates. After condensation of these three segments, the dienone cyclopropane structure was formed to complete the total synthesis.

Abstract
Mechanochemical derivatizations of N- or C-protected amino acids were performed in a ball mill under solvent-free conditions. A vibrational ball mill was used for the preparation of N-protected α- and β-amino esters starting from the corresponding N-unmasked precursors via a carbamoylation reaction in the presence of di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (Boc2O), benzyl chloroformate (Z-Cl) or 9-fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl chloroformate (Fmoc-Cl). A planetary ball mill proved to be more suitable for the synthesis of amino esters from N-protected amino acids via a one-pot activation/esterification reaction in the presence of various dialkyl dicarbonates or chloroformates. The spot-to-spot reactions were straightforward, leading to the final products in reduced reaction times with improved yields and simplified work-up procedures.

Abstract
The asymmetric synthesis of 2-substituted-tetrahydroisoquinolin-1-yl glycines was achieved by an oxidative cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction. This method for activation of the α-C-H bonds of amines with chiral nickel(II) glycinate using o-chloranil as the sole oxidant afforded highly diastereoselective coupling adducts. The decomposition of coupling adducts readily afforded 2-substituted-tetrahydroisoquinolin-1-yl glycine derivatives.

Abstract
Alkylation of 5-nitroindol-4-ylacetonitriles with ethyl chloroacetate, α-halomethyl ketones, and chloroacetonitrile followed by a treatment of the products with chlorotrimethylsilane in the presence of DBU gives 1-cyanopyrrolo[3,2-e]indoles substituted in position 2 with electron-withdrawing groups.
