Abstract
A three-component reaction between the 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic (terephthalic) acid (H2bdc), bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)methane (btrm) and zinc nitrate was studied, and three new coordination polymers were isolated by a careful selection of the reaction conditions. Coordination polymers {[Zn3(DMF)(btrm)(bdc)3]·nDMF}∞ and {[Zn3(btrm)(bdc)3]·nDMF}∞ containing trinuclear {Zn3(bdc)3} secondary building units are joined by btrm auxiliary linkers into three-dimensional metal–organic frameworks. The coordination polymer {[Zn(bdc)(btrm)]∙nDMF}∞ consists of Zn2+ cations joined by bdc2− and btrm linkers into a two-fold interpenetrated network. Upon activation, MOF [Zn3(btrm)(bdc)3]∞ demonstrated CO2/N2 adsorption selectivity with an ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) factor of 21. All three MOF demonstrated photoluminescence with a maximum near 435–440 nm upon excitation at 330 nm.

Abstract
Using chalcone dicarboxylic acid ligands, three different metal-organic frameworks have been successfully obtained. Interestingly, structural diversity has been observed. The difference between compounds 2 and 3 is the inconsistent orientation of the adjacent binuclear Cd clusters. In addition, the photocatalytic properties of compounds 1 and 2 for the degradation of several organic dyes have been explored.

Abstract
The synthetic difficulties associated with quaterpyridine (qtpy) complexes have limited their use in the formation of various metallosupramolecular architectures in spite of their diverse structural and physicochemical properties. Providing a new facile synthetic route to the synthesis of functionalised qtpy mimics, we herein report the synthesis of three novel –NH2 functionalized qtpy-like complexes 12–14 with the general formula M(C16H14N12)(NO3)2 (M = Co(ii), Ni(ii) and Cu(ii)) in high yield and purity. Characterization of these complexes has been done by single crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD), thermogravimetric analysis, UV-Vis, infrared, mass spectrometry and cyclic voltammetry. As indicated by SCXRD, in all the synthesized complexes, the metal ions show a strongly distorted octahedral coordination geometry and typical hydrogen bonding networks involving DAT groups. In addition, complexes 12–14 have been analyzed as potential photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) displaying good turnover numbers (TONs). Hydrogen produced from these photocatalysts can serve as the possible alternative for fossil fuels. To the best of our knowledge, this is the only study showcasing –NH2 functionalized qtpy-like complexes of Co(ii), Ni(ii) and Cu(ii) and employing them as photocatalysts for HER. Thus, a single proposed strategy solves two purposes-one related to synthesis while second is related to our environment. Facile synthesis of three novel –NH2 functionalized qtpy-like complexes, their characterizations and study of their photocatalytic properties for hydrogen evolution reaction.![]()

Abstract
Herein, for the first time, we report a generalized strategy for the successful synthesis of highly crystalline metal and metal oxide nanoparticles embedded in a carbon matrix by the controlled thermolysis of metal organic frameworks (MOFs). The rationalized synthesis strategy of a broad range of metal and metal oxides nanoparticles, such as Cu/CuO, Co/Co(3)O(4), ZnO, Mn(2)O(3), MgO and CdS/CdO, by thermolysis of MOFs demonstrates for the first time that metal ions with a reduction potential of -0.27 volts or higher present in MOFs always form pure metal nanoparticles during thermolysis in N(2), whereas metal ions with a reduction potential lower than -0.27 volts form metal oxide nanoparticles during thermolysis in N(2). Another point of interest is the fact that we have found a unique relationship between the nanoparticle size and the distance between the secondary building units inside the MOF precursors. Interestingly, the crystallinity of the carbon matrix was also found to be greatly influenced by the environment (N(2) and air) during thermolysis. Moreover, these nanoparticles dispersed in a carbon matrix showed promising H(2) and CO(2) adsorption properties depending on the environment used for the thermolysis of MOFs.
