Abstract
Experimentally conducted reactions between CO2 and various substrates (i.e., ethylenediamine (EDA), ethanolamine (ETA), ethylene glycol (EG), mercaptoethanol (ME), and ethylene dithiol (EDT)) are considered in a computational study. The reactions were previously conducted under harsh conditions utilizing toxic metal catalysts. We computationally utilize Brønsted acidic ionic liquid (IL) [Et2NH2]HSO4 as a catalyst aiming to investigate and propose 'greener' pathways for future experimental studies. Computations show that EDA is the best to fixate CO2 among the tested substrates: the nucleophilic EDA attack on CO2 is calculated to have a very small energy barrier to overcome (TS1EDA, ΔG‡ = 1.4 kcal mol-1) and form I1EDA (carbamic acid adduct). The formed intermediate is converted to cyclic urea (PEDA, imidazolidin-2-one) via ring closure and dehydration of the concerted transition state (TS2EDA, ΔG‡ = 32.8 kcal mol-1). Solvation model analysis demonstrates that nonpolar solvents (hexane, THF) are better for fixing CO2 with EDA. Attaching electron-donating and -withdrawing groups to EDA does not reduce the energy barriers. Modifying the IL via changing the anion part (HSO4-) central S atom with 6 A and 5 A group elements (Se, P, and As) shows that a Se-based IL can be utilized for the same purpose. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations reveal that the IL ion pairs can hold substrates and CO2 molecules via noncovalent interactions to ease nucleophilic attack on CO2.

Abstract
A conceptually novel catalytic domino approach is presented for the synthesis of highly functional 1,4-dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine-2-one derivatives. Key to the chemoselectivity is a proper design of the precursor to override thermodynamically favored parasitic cyclization processes and empower the formation of the desired product through Thorpe-Ingold effects. The synthetic diversity of these CO2 -based heterocycles is further demonstrated, and the isolation of a reaction intermediate supports an unusual ring-expansion sequence from an α-alkylidene, five-membered cyclic carbonate to a six-membered cyclic carbamate by N-induced isomerization.

Abstract
As a well-known greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide (CO2) has attracted increasing levels of attention in areas of energy, environment, climate, etc. Notably, CO2 is an abundant, nonflammable, and renewable C1 feedstock in view of chemistry. Therefore, the transformation of CO2 into organic compounds is an extremely attractive research topic in modern green and sustainable chemistry. Among the numerous CO2 utilization methods, carboxylative cycloaddition of CO2 into propargylic alcohols is an ideal route due to the corresponding products, α-alkylidene cyclic carbonates, which are a series of highly functionalized compounds that supply numerous potential methods for the construction of various synthetically and biologically valuable agents. This cyclization reaction has been intensively studied and systematically summarized, in the past years. Therefore, attention has been gradually transferred to produce more derivative compounds. Herein, the tandem reactions of this cyclization with hydration, amination, alcoholysis, and isomerization to synthesize α-hydroxyl ketones, oxazolidinones, carbamates, unsymmetrical carbonates, tetronic acids, ethylene carbonates, etc. were systematically reviewed.

Abstract
CO2 hydrogenation to CH3OH is a crucial conversion for several purposes. Density functional theory (DFT) studies have been performed to explore the mechanistic pathways of newly reported CO2 capture and hydrogenation to methanol. The present study describes the multistep transformation of CO2 to methanol. In this case we have introduced 2-amino-1-propanol to capture CO2 and hydrogenation of the CO2 captured product (oxazolidinone) in the presence of an active Mn(i)-PNP based catalyst. All the plausible pathways for oxazolidinone hydrogenation to methanol have been explored in detail. Here, hydride and proton transfer steps are very important for oxazolidinone hydrogenation, whereas heterolytic H2 cleavage is the most important step for the regeneration of the catalyst. Our detailed study shows that C-N bond hydrogenation followed by C-O and C[double bond, length as m-dash]O bond hydrogenations or C-O bond hydrogenation followed by C-N and C[double bond, length as m-dash]O bond hydrogenations are the most favourable pathways for oxazolidinone hydrogenation to methanol with a total reaction free energy barrier of 36.9 kcal mol-1 for both the pathways in the presence of a Mn(i)-PNP catalyst.

Abstract
With the aim of profitable conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) in an efficient, economical, and sustainable manner, we developed a CuBr/ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate) catalytic system that could efficiently catalyze the three-component reactions of propargylic alcohols, 2-aminoethanols, and CO2 to produce 2-oxazolidinones and α-hydroxy ketones. Remarkably, this catalytic system employed lower metal loading (0.0125–0.5 mol%) but exhibited the highest turnover number (2960) ever reported, demonstrating its excellent activity and sustainability. Moreover, our catalytic system could efficiently work under 1 atm of CO2 pressure and recycle among the metal-catalyzed systems.

Abstract
Methanation of carbon dioxide (CO2 ) is attractive within the context of a renewable energy refinery. Herein, we report an indirect methanation method that harnesses amino alcohols as relay molecules in combination with a catalyst comprising ruthenium nanoparticles (NPs) immobilized on a Lewis acidic and robust metal-organic framework (MOF). The Ru NPs are well dispersed on the surface of the MOF crystals and have a narrow size distribution. The catalyst efficiently transforms amino alcohols to oxazolidinones (upon reaction with CO2 ) and then to methane (upon reaction with hydrogen), simultaneously regenerating the amino alcohol relay molecule. This protocol provides a sustainable, indirect way for CO2 methanation as the process can be repeated multiple times.

Abstract
From the viewpoint of green chemistry and sustainable development, it is of great significance to synthesize chemicals from CO₂ as C₁ source through C-N bond formation. During the past several decade years, many studies on C-N bond formation reaction were involved, and many efforts have been made on the theory. Nevertheless, several great challenges such as thermodynamic limitation, low catalytic efficiency and selectivity, and high pressure etc. are still suffered. Herein, recent advances are highlighted on the development of catalytic methods for chemical fixation of CO₂ to various chemicals through C-N bond formation. Meanwhile, the catalytic systems (metal and metal-free catalysis), strategies and catalytic mechanism are summarized and discussed in detail. Besides, this review also covers some novel synthetic strategies to urethanes based on amines and CO₂. Finally, the regulatory strategies on functionalization of CO₂ for N-methylation/N-formylation of amines with phenylsilane and heterogeneous catalysis N-methylation of amines with CO₂ and H₂ are emphasized.

Abstract
Carbon dioxide offers an accessible, cheap and renewable carbon feedstock for synthesis. Current interest in the area of carbon dioxide valorisation aims at new, emerging technologies that are able to provide new opportunities to turn a waste into value. Polymers are among the most widely produced chemicals in the world greatly affecting the quality of life. However, there are growing concerns about the lack of reuse of the majority of the consumer plastics and their after-life disposal resulting in an increasing demand for sustainable alternatives. New monomers and polymers that can address these issues are therefore warranted, and merging polymer synthesis with the recycling of carbon dioxide offers a tangible route to transition towards a circular economy. Here, an overview of the most relevant and recent approaches to CO2-based monomers and polymers are highlighted with particular emphasis on the transformation routes used and their involved manifolds.

The ionic liquid structure, reaction temperature and reaction time were in detail investigated. And 15 mol% 1,5,7-triazabicylo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene ([TBDH][TFE]) trifluoroethanol was found to be able to synergistically activate the substrate and CO₂, thus catalyzing this cascade reaction under atmospheric CO₂ pressure. By employing this task-specific ionic liquid as sustainable catalyst, 2-aminoethanols with different substituents were successfully transformed to 2-oxazolidinones with moderate to excellent yield after 12 h at 80 °C.

Abstract
Dehydrogenative synthesis of esters from primary alcohols proceeded efficiently over a ZrO2-supported copper catalyst. A variety of esters were obtained from primary alcohols as well as diols in good to high yields. The key to the dehydrogenative synthesis of esters is the concerted effect of the acid-base pairs on ZrO2 and metallic copper.

Abstract
Identification on catalytic sites of heterogeneous catalysts at atomic level is important to understand catalytic mechanism. Surface engineering on defects of metal oxides can construct new active sites and regulate catalytic activity and selectivity. Here we outline the strategy by controlling surface defects of nanoceria to create the solid frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) metal oxide for efficient hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes. Porous nanorods of ceria (PN-CeO2) with a high concentration of surface defects construct new Lewis acidic sites by two adjacent surface Ce3+. The neighbouring surface lattice oxygen as Lewis base and constructed Lewis acid create solid FLP site due to the rigid lattice of ceria, which can easily dissociate H–H bond with low activation energy of 0.17 eV. Surface engineering of catalysts allows the tailoring of active sites. Here the authors produce a heterogeneous nanoceria catalyst with engineered defects producing active solid frustrated Lewis pair sites, and use these materials for the hydrogenation of alkynes and alkenes.

Abstract
Development of catalytic routes to incorporate CO2 into carbonyl compounds at mild conditions remains attractive and challenging. Herein, a one-pot three-component cascade reaction of terminal propargylic alcohols, CO2 , and 2-aminoethanols through Ag(I) -based catalysis is reported for the synthesis of carbonyl compounds through C-O/C-N bond formation. This thermodynamically favorable route can be ingeniously regulated to afford a wide range of 2-oxazolidinones along with concurrent production of α-hydroxyl ketone derivatives in excellent yields and selectivity. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicate that such a process proceeds through successive formation of α-alkylidene cyclic carbonate, β-oxopropylcarbamate, and 2-oxazolidinones.

Abstract
Direct polymerization of CO2 and diols is promising as a simple and environmental-benign method in place of conventional processes using high-cost and/or hazardous reagents such as phosgene, carbon monoxide and epoxides, however, there are no reports on the direct method due to the inertness of CO2 and severe equilibrium limitation of the reaction. Herein, we firstly substantiate the direct copolymerization of CO2 and diols using CeO2 catalyst and 2-cyanopyridine promotor, providing the alternating cooligomers in high diol-based yield (up to 99%) and selectivity (up to >99%). This catalyst system is applicable to various diols including linear C4-C10 α,ω-diols to provide high yields of the corresponding cooligomers, which cannot be obtained by well-known methods such as copolymerization of CO2 and cyclic ethers and ring-opening polymerization of cyclic carbonates. This process provides us a facile synthesis method for versatile polycarbonates from various diols and CO2 owing to simplicity of diols modification.

Abstract
Here we report the successful room temperature synthesis of zirconium phosphate nanoparticles (ZPNP) using the P123 tri-co-block polymer for the first time. The samples were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, TPD, and BET and were employed for fixation of CO2 on aniline to produce pharmaceutically important acetanilide under mild reaction conditions (150 °C and 150 Psi CO2 pressure).
