Abstract
An unprecedented and straightforward route for the asymmetric construction of privileged atroposelective bridged (hetero)biaryl eight-membered scaffolds has been accomplished through chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed asymmetric intramolecular [3 + 2] cycloaddition of innovative (hetero)biaryl aldehydes with 3-aminooxindole hydrochlorides. A class of eight-membered bridged (hetero)biaryl lactones fused to spiro[pyrrolidine-oxindole] derivatives, possessing both chiral C-C/C-N axes and multiple contiguous stereocenters, were obtained in good yields with excellent enantioselectivities and diastereoselectivities in one step through this direct strategy. In addition, the good scalability and derivatization of the title compounds demonstrated their synthetic utility.

Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of polycyclic fluorinated pyrrolidines has been achieved by Cu-catalyzed intramolecular 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides with fluorinated dipolarophiles. The method displays a wide scope and afforded the desired cycloadducts in high yields with up to 99% ee. These results demonstrate that fluoroalkyl substituents are excellent activating groups in this transformation.

Abstract
An efficient protocol for the synthesis of tricyclic pyrrolidinochromenes has been developed via an intramolecular 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides generated in situ from 1,3-dienyl ester tethered O-hydroxyarylaldehyde and glycine esters. The reaction is highly regio- and diastereoselective in nature and provided the potentially bioactive pyrrolidine fused tricyclic cycloadducts in excellent yields with wide substrate scope. Interestingly this reaction constructs two rings and four contiguous stereogenic centers in which one of them is an all carbon quaternary center in a unique fashion.

Abstract
Can green chemistry be the right reading key to let organocatalyst design take a step forward towards sustainable catalysis? What if the intriguing chemistry promoted by more engineered organocatalysts was carried on by using renewable and naturally occurring molecular scaffolds, or at least synthetic catalysts more respectful towards the principles of green chemistry? Within the frame of these questions, this Review will tackle the most commonly occurring organic chiral catalysts from the perspective of their synthesis rather than their employment in chemical methodologies or processes. A classification of the catalyst scaffolds based on their E factor will be provided, and the global E factor (EG factor) will be proposed as a new green chemistry metric to consider, also, the synthetic route to the catalyst within a given organocatalytic process.

Abstract
AbstractWe present a divergent strategy that permits access to diversely functionalized benzoxazepinium scaffolds fused to various heterocycles. The described strategy features a one-pot combination of the Groebke–Blackburn–Bienaymé reaction and an aza-Michael addition. Methyl (E)-4-(2-formylphenoxy)but-2-enoate and its derivatives are utilized as central elements in this cascade. These building blocks are reacted with a variety of functionalized amino-azines and tert-butyl isocyanide under ytterbium triflate [Yb(OTf)3] catalysis. The ensuing cascade represents a rapid, modular and atom-economic process that leads to the construction of a diverse collection of constrained benzoxazepinium systems from a wide substrate scope.

Abstract
In this account, we describe the synthesis of a series of BINOL-based bis- and trisphosphoric acids 11d/e/f, which commonly feature an unusual phosphoric acid monoester motif. This motif is generated by an acid-catalyzed 5- endo- dig cyclization of the 3-alkynyl-substituted BINOL precursors to give the corresponding Furan-annelated derivatives, followed by phosphorylation of the remaining phenolic alcohols. In the cyclization reaction, we observed an unexpected partial racemization in the bis- and tris-BINOL scaffolds, leading to mixtures of diastereomers that were separated and characterized spectroscopically and by X-ray crystal structure analyses. The cyclization and racemization processes were investigated both experimentally and by DFT-calculations, showing that although the cyclization proceeds faster, the barrier for the acid-catalyzed binaphthyl-racemization is only slightly higher.

Abstract
Intramolecular tandem seleno-Michael/aldol reaction followed by an oxidation-elimination process can be an efficient tool for the construction of hydroxy cyclo-1-ene-1-carboxylate esters from oxo-α,β-unsaturated esters. Generation of lithium selenolate from elemental selenium and n-BuLi provides a simple and efficient one-pot access to cyclic endo-Morita-Baylis-Hillman adducts.

Abstract
Over the last several years there has been a huge increase in the development and applications of new efficient organocatalysts for enantioselective pericyclic reactions, which represent one of the most powerful types of organic transformations. Among these processes are cycloaddition reactions (e.g., [3+2]; formal [3+3]; [4+2]; vinylogous [4+2] and 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions), which belong to the most utilized reactions in organic synthesis of complex nitrogen- and oxygen-containing heterocyclic molecules. This review presents the breakthrough realized in this field using chiral BINOL-derived phosphoric acids and N-triflyl phosphoramide organocatalysts.
