Abstract
Isocyanide is a promising synthetic reagent not only as a one-carbon homologation reagent but also as a nitrogen source for nitrogen-containing molecules. Because of their isoelectronic structure with carbon monoxide, isocyanides also react with nucleophiles, electrophiles, carbon radicals, and transition metal reagents, and are widely used in organic synthesis. On the other hand, the use of isocyanides in reactions with heteroatom radicals is limited. However, the reaction of isocyanides with heteroatom radicals is a promising synthetic tool for the construction of nitrogen-containing organic molecules modified with a variety of heteroatoms. In this Perspective, we review the addition and cyclization reactions of heteroatom radicals with isocyanides and discuss the synthetic prospects of the reaction of isocyanides with heteroatom radicals.

Abstract
We describe here the synthesis of isoselenochromenes via a nucleophilic selenocyclization reaction of benzodiynes with sodium selenide. The central parameters that affect this cyclization reaction were studied, and the best reaction conditions were applied to different substrates to determine the scope of the method. The results indicated that isoselenochromenes were obtained in higher yields when the reactions were performed by the addition of NaBH4 (3 equiv), at room temperature, under nitrogen atmosphere, to a solution of elemental selenium (2 equiv) in dimethylformamide (2 mL). After 1 h, a benzodiynes (0.25 mmol) solution in EtOH (3 mL) was added at room temperature. The reaction was stirred at 75 °C until the starting material was consumed. The best conditions were applied to benzodiynes having electron-rich, electron poor aromatic rings, and alkyl groups directly bonded to the alkynes. The same reaction condition was extended to isothiochromene derivatives but failed to prepare isotelurochromenes. The isoselenochromenes were easily transformed into three new classes of organoselenium compounds using classical methods available in the literature. We also conducted several control experiments to propose a reaction mechanism.

Abstract
A method for the synthesis of 4-organoselanyl oxazinoindolone derivatives by the cascade cyclization of N-(alkoxycarbonyl)-2-alkynylindoles using iron(III) chloride and diorganyl diselenides as promoters was developed. This protocol was applied to a series of N-(alkoxycarbonyl)-2-alkynylindoles containing different substituents. The reaction conditions also tolerated a variety of diorganyl diselenides having both electron donating and electron withdrawing groups. However, the reaction did not work for diorganyl disulfides and ditellurides. The reaction mechanism seems to proceed via an ionic pathway and the cooperative action between iron(III) chloride and diorganyl diselenides is crucial for successful cyclization. We also found that using the same starting materials, by simply changing the electrophilic source to iodine, led to the formation of 4-iodo-oxazinoindolones. The high reactivity of Csp2 -Se and Csp2 -I bonds were tested under cross-coupling conditions leading to the preparation of a new class of functionalized indole derivatives. In addition, the absorption, emission and electrochemical properties of 4-organoselanyl oxazinoindolones showed an important relationship with the substituents of the aromatic rings. The advantages of the methodology include the use of electrophilic to promote the cyclization reaction and functionalization of the indole ring, and the electronic properties presented by the prepared compounds can be exploited as probes, analyte detectors and optical materials.

Abstract
The cycloaddition reaction of o-diisocyanoarenes with interelement compounds under light is a very important reaction system to clarify whether this reaction proceeds by radical cyclization or by aza-Bergman cyclization. In this study, a series of diphosphines with phosphorus-phosphorus single bonds were selected as interelement compounds, and their cycloaddition reactions with o-diisocyanoarenes under light were investigated in detail to achieve a novel photoinduced synthesis of bisphosphinated quinoxalines via the radical cyclization pathway. In addition, the photoinduced reaction of diphosphines with isocyanides having o-functional groups such as cyano and ethenyl groups allowed us to elucidate the reaction pathway and product selectivity of this bisphosphination. Furthermore, the one-pot synthesis of PdII -quinoxaline complex was successfully achieved by applying the developed reaction.

Abstract
In recent years, the importance of "environmentally friendly manufacturing" has been increasing toward the establishment of a resource-recycling society. In organic synthesis, as well, it is becoming increasingly important to develop new synthetic strategies with resource conservation and the recycling of elemental resources in mind, rather than just only synthesis. Many studies on the construction of frameworks of functional molecules using ionic reactions and transition-metal-catalyzed reactions have been reported, but most of them have focused on the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. However, it is essential to introduce appropriate functional groups at appropriate positions in molecules in order for the molecules to express their functions, and furthermore, the highly selective preparation of multiple functional groups is considered important for the creation of new functional molecules. In this review, we focus on radical reactions with high functional group selectivity and overview the recent progress in practical methods for the simultaneous introduction of multiple functional groups and propose future synthetic strategies that emphasize the recycling of elemental resources and environmental friendliness.

Abstract
This study describes the reaction of 2-amino arylalkynyl ketones with organoselenolates to form (Z)-vinyl selenides, which lead to 4-organoselenyl quinolines via an intramolecular condensation. Using the optimized reaction conditions, the generality of this cyclization was studied with various arylalkynyl ketones and diorganyl diselenides. The study of the reaction mechanisms led to the isolation and identification of a vinyl selenide, which was the key intermediate for this cyclization. To expand the structural diversity and to demonstrate the applicability of the 4-organoselenyl quinolines prepared, we studied their application as substrates in the cleavage of the carbon-selenium bond using n-butyllithium followed by the capture of the lithium intermediate by electrophiles and Suzuki and Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions.

Abstract
An efficient and novel approach to accessing 3-selenylquinolines from diaryl diselenides and acyclic, selenium-free substrates is described. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicate that the combination of CuCl2 and air affords an appropriate environment for producing arylselenyl radicals that initiate the cascade cyclization of N-(2-alkynyl)anilines, forming key Se-C and C-C bonds in a single step. Using this chemistry, a wide variety of 3-selenylquinolines were produced in moderate to excellent yield under mild conditions, highlighting the versatility and usefulness of this new method.

Abstract
We report matrix isolation infrared spectroscopic studies to characterize 3,6-didehydropyridazine 6, a heterocyclic analogue of para benzyne, combined with computations. In this regard, we have utilized 3,6-diiodopyridazine 11 as a photolytic precursor. The experiments toward the generation of the biradical are carried out in argon and nitrogen matrices at 4 K. Instead of the elusive biradical, we have observed a ring-opening product maleonitrile (Z)-7 upon irradiation at 254 nm. In contrast, prolonged irradiation at 254 nm leads only to Z-E isomerization, forming fumaronitrile (E)-7. The mechanistic aspects of ring-opening, product selectivity, and Z-E photoisomerization steps have been investigated in detail using high-level ab initio computations. These studies have found that 3,6-didehydropyridazine 6 is an untraceable intermediate, and the ring-opening step leading to maleonitrile is barrierless. In addition, we have proposed the involvement of the S1 (π-π*) state via conical intersection in the Z-E photoisomerization of maleonitrile.

Abstract
This manuscript intends to overview the most recent advances in the synthesis of carbo- and heterocycles through reactions of alkynes with organyl chalcogenides (S, Se, Te) under metal-free conditions. Firstly, the use of electrophilic chalcogenyl halides as a selective reagent for alkyne carbon-carbon triple bond activation will be presented. After that, radical cyclization protocols employing electrochemical oxidative conditions, light-induced photoredox catalysis, or mild oxidants with direct chalcogenyl group installation will be discussed accompanied by the proposed mechanisms.

Abstract
An efficient and green synthesis of 4-ferrocenylquinoline derivatives through a TsOH-catalyzed three-component reaction of aromatic aldehydes, amines and ferrocenylacetylene in water has been successfully developed. This strategy is a powerful method for the construction of diverse ferrocenyl-quinoline conjugates from simple available starting materials as it minimized the use of metal catalyst and organic solvent in the reaction process. The conjugates feature unique structures and excellent electronic properties. Moreover, a plausible mechanism for this TsOH-catalyzed three-component reaction was proposed and assessed.

Abstract
Photoinduced cyclization of o-alkenylaryl isocyanides with (PhS)2 in the presence of (PhTe)2 affords the corresponding bisthiolated indene derivatives in good yields via radical cyclization process by thio radical. The procedure can be applied to the construction of tetracyclic systems by using bis(o-aminophenyl) disulfides in place of (PhS)2. In sharp contrast, when o-alkynylaryl isocyanides are employed as the substrates, novel electrocyclic reactions take place upon photoirradiation or heating at 40~80 °C to generate quinoline 2,4-biradical species, which are trapped with organic diselenides, ditellurides, and molecular iodine to give the corresponding 2,4-diseleno-, ditelluro-, and diiodo-quinoline derivatives, respectively, in good yields. The obtained quinoline derivatives are useful synthetic intermediates; for example, cross-coupling reactions using 2,4-diiodoquinolines lead to the preparation of functionalized quinoline derivatives.
