Abstract
Cluster-based framework metal iodides have diverse structures and excellent luminescence properties, and show promising applications in sensing and solid-state lighting. However, the design and synthesis of these materials remain great challenges because excess I- ions introduced into the synthesis systems decrease the condensation degree of M-I units. In this work, a new strategy is developed to control the condensation behavior of Ag-I units, and a new silver-rich cluster-based framework iodide [DabcoAg8I6(SPh)2]n (1) (Dabco = 1,4-diazabicyclo [2.2.2] octane) has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions in the presence of silver thiophenolate (AgSPh)n. Compound 1 features a three-dimensional (3-D) cluster-based framework with a pillared layer structure composed of cationic [Ag8I6]2+ clusters bridged by SPh- and Dabco, and displays low-temperature dual emission and luminescence thermochromism.

Abstract
Hybrid bismuth-containing halides are emerging as alternative candidates to lead-containing perovskites for light-harvesting applications, as Bi3+ is isoelectronic with Pb2+ and the presence of an active lone pair of electrons is expected to result in outstanding charge-carrier transport properties. Here, we report a family of one binary and three ternary iodobismuthates containing 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO). These materials have been prepared solvothermally and their crystal structures, thermal stability, and optical properties determined. Reactions carried out in the presence of bismuth iodide and DABCO produced (C6H12N2)BiI3 (1), which consists of hybrid ribbons in which pairs of edge-sharing bismuth octahedra are linked by DABCO ligands. Short I···I contacts give rise to a three-dimensional network. Similar reactions in the presence of copper iodide produced (C8H17N2)2Bi2Cu2I10 (2) and [(C6H13N2)2BiCu2I7](C2H5OH) (3) in which either ethylated DABCO cations (EtDABCO)+ or monoprotonated DABCO cations (DABCOH)+ are coordinated to copper in discrete tetranuclear and trinuclear clusters, respectively. In the presence of potassium iodide, a unique three-dimensional framework, (C6H14N2)[(C6H12N2)KBiI6] (4), was formed, which contains one-dimensional hexagonal channels approximately 6 Å in diameter. The optical band gaps of these materials, which are semiconductors, range between 1.82 and 2.27 eV, with the lowest values found for the copper-containing discrete clusters. Preliminary results on the preparation of thin films are presented.

Abstract
In recent years, organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides have emerged as a highly promising class of semiconducting light emitting diodes (LEDs) due to their fascinating photoluminescence properties. Here, by specifically selecting different organic cations as templates, a series of new hybrid cuprous halides have been solvothermally prepared, namely [Me-Py]CuI2 (1), [(Me)2-DABCO]Cu2I4 (2), [Me-MePy]Cu2I3 (3), and [H2DABCO]Cu3X5 (X = I (4) and Br (5)). These hybrid cuprous halides feature one-dimensional (1D) [CuI2]-, [Cu2I3]- and [Cu3X5]2- (X = Br, I) chains surrounded and charge-balanced by organic cations. Under UV photoexcitation, these hybrid cuprous halides exhibit strong tunable photoluminescence from cyan (480 nm) to red (675 nm) emissions with large Stokes shifts (345 nm). The intrinsic nature of PL emissions is also investigated based on temperature-dependent PL emission, lifetime, photoluminescence quantum efficiencies, etc.

Abstract
A novel cuprous iodide polymer [Cu2(μ4-L)(μ2-I-)(I2)(I3-)]n·nI2 (1, L = 1-tetrazole-4-imidazole-benzene) has been hydrothermally synthesized. 1 contains a 1-D chain [Cu2(μ4-L)(μ2-I-)(I2)(I3-)]n and free I2 molecules, which are interconnected by weak II interactions to form an unprecedented 3-D cuprous polyiodide network containing rare 1-D [(I-)·2I2·(I3)-]n polyiodide ribbons. 1 shows luminescence and photoelectronic properties, and its theoretical band structure was also studied.

Abstract
The interconnection of rare 1-D cationic aggregates [CuI3I2+]n and anionic bi-tetrazolate bridges leads to the formation of a novel 3-D cuprous iodide polymer with a Cu/I ratio as high as 3, which shows unusually thermochromic luminescent properties.

Abstract
With various organic base molecules as the countercations, five new thiocyanatocadmates [H2(tmen)][Cd(SCN)4] (tmen = N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine) 1, [H2(tmba)][Cd2(SCN)6] (tmba = N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-1,4-butanediamine) 2, [H2(teen)][Cd2(SCN)6] (teen = N,N,N',N'-tetra-ethylethylenediamine) 3, [H(amp)][Cd(SCN)2(CH3COO)] (amp = 2-amino-6-methylpyridine) 4 and [H(abp)]4[Cd(SCN)4]SO4·H2O (abp = 2-amino-6-bromopyridine) 5, and one new chlorocuprate(II) [H2(cha)][CuCl4] (cha = 1,4-cyclohexanediamine) 6 were obtained from a series of simple room-temperature self-assemblies at pH = 2 or 6.5. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis reveals that (i) templated by [(CH3)2NH(CH2)2NH(CH3)2](2+) (H2(tmen)(2+)), the anion [Cd(SCN)4](2-) in 1 shows a 1-D linear single-chain structure, whereas templated by [(CH3)2NH(CH2)4NH(CH3)2](2+) (H2(tmba)(2+)), the anion [Cd2(SCN)6](2-) in 2 shows a 1-D linear double-chain structure. The number of C atoms between the two N atoms in the templating agent controls the width of the anionic chain through the N(amino)-H···N(SCN) interactions; (ii) templated by [(C2H5)2NH(CH2)2NH(C2H5)2](2+) (H2(teen)(2+)), the anion [Cd2(SCN)6](2-) in 3 exhibits a 3-D open-framework structure, which is based on zigzag anionic chains. A direct change of the substituent group from -CH3 to -C2H5 alters indirectly the shape of the anionic chain from a linear shape to a zigzag shape; (iii) 4 shows a 3-D supramolecular network structure, which is built up from the 1-D zigzag anionic structures by the H(amp)(+) molecules via N-H···O interactions. The formation of the zigzag chain derives from the chelation of the CH3COO(-) groups to the Cd(2+) centers; (iv) 5 is indeed a double salt of [H(abp)]2[Cd(SCN)4] and [H(abp)]2SO4. SO4(2-) and H(abp)(+) form a supramolecular aggregation. Surrounded by the aggregations, the anion [Cd(SCN)4](2-) only shows a dinuclear structure; and (v) templated by H2(cha)(2+), the anion [CuCl4](2-) in 6 displays a 2-D perovskite layer structure. The photoluminescence analysis indicates that upon excitation (λ(ex) = 335 nm for 4, λ(ex) = 395 nm for 5), and emit light (λ(em) = 365 nm for 4, λ(em) = 470 nm for 5), which can be seen clearly under the UV lamp.
