Abstract
We report here the design, synthesis, and antiproliferative activity of three coordination complexes [Mn2(pydco)2(bpy)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (1), [Zn(bpy)(Hpydco)2] (2), and [Zn(bpy)Cl(Hpydco)]·2H2O (3) (H2pydco = pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid N-oxide, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine). Molecular structures of these complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and powder and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. According to the structural analysis, 1-3 are discrete complexes containing N- and O-donor ligands (bpy and pydco2-) in which pydco2- can be coordinated to the metal centres via the N-oxide oxygen and one carboxylate oxygen to generate a six-membered chelate ring. Also, these structures benefit from extensive intermolecular interactions such as hydrogen bonds and π-interactions which are the major forces to make them more stable in the solid state. The energetic features of the π-stacking interactions observed in compounds 1-3 have been computed and compared to the H-bonds. The interactions in the solid state have been also studied using the independent gradient model approach (IGM plot). The IGM-δg approach uses a new descriptor (δg) that locally represents the difference between a virtual upper limit of the electron density gradient and the true electron density gradient. This newly developed IGM methodology automatically extracts the signature of interactions between two given fragments. Finally, the antiproliferative properties of these complexes were tested on several cancer cell lines by MTT assay and flow cytometry. Also, to compare the antiproliferative activities of these complexes with common chemotherapy drugs, the antiproliferative property of cisplatin was evaluated as a reference and positive control.

Abstract
2D dysprosium complex exhibiting slow magnetic relaxation originating from the strong Ising anisotropy of single Dy3+ ions has been reported.
A new 2D dysprosium layer compound has been successfully synthesized from reaction with 2-(3-pyridyl) pyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid (H3-py-4-pmc), in which the Dy3+ ions reside in square antiprismatic coordination environments and are connected by carboxylate/oxalate/hydroxyl bridges. Magnetic studies reveal ferromagnetic interactions between Dy3+ ions, slow magnetic relaxation with an effective energy barrier Ueff of 186 K under zero dc field and pronounced hysteresis loops at low temperatures. Further dilution magnetic study suggests that the slow magnetic relaxation originates from the single-ion magnetic behavior of Dy3+ ion and that magnetic coupling suppresses the quantum tunneling of magnetization at low temperature. In addition, theoretical calculation indicates strong Ising anisotropy of the Dy3+ ion that is due to the strong interaction between Dy3+ ions and hydroxyl groups.

Abstract
A novel neutral polymer, {[Co2(C7H3NO4)2(H2O)4]·2H2O}n, was hydrothermally synthesized using pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylate (2,5-PDC(2-)) as the organic linker. It features a two-dimensional layer structure constructed from one-dimensional {[Co(2,5-PDC)2](2-)}n chains interlinked by [Co(H2O)4](+) units. The two Co(II) cations occupy special positions, sitting on inversion centres. Each 2,5-PDC(2-) anion chelates to one Co(II) cation via the pyridine N atom and an O atom of the adjacent carboxylate group, and links to two other Co(II) cations in a bridging mode via the O atoms of the other carboxylate group. In this way, the 2,5-PDC(2-) ligand connects three neighbouring Co(II) centres to form a two-dimensional network. The two-dimensional undulating layers are linked by extensive hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional supramolecular structure, with the uncoordinated solvent molecules occupying the interlamellar region.
