Abstract
Drug leads with a high Fsp3 index are more likely to possess desirable properties for progression in the drug development pipeline. This paper describes the development of an efficient two-step protocol to completely diastereoselectively access a diethanolamine (DEA) boronate ester derivative of monosaccharide d-galactose from the starting material 1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-α-d-glucofuranose. This intermediate, in turn, is used to access 3-boronic-3deoxy-d-galactose for boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) applications. The hydroboration/borane trapping protocol was robustly optimized with BH3.THF in 1,4-dioxane, followed by in-situ conversion of the inorganic borane intermediate to the organic boron product by the addition of DEA. This second step occurs instantaneously, with the immediate formation of a white precipitate. This protocol allows expedited and greener access to a new class of BNCT agents with an Fsp3 index = 1 and a desirable toxicity profile. Furthermore, presented is the first detailed NMR analysis of the borylated free monosaccharide target compound during the processes of mutarotation and borarotation.

Abstract
The development of high performance, recyclable thermoset materials for applications in plastics, composites, coatings and adhesives requires a synthetic approach where recyclability is designed into the molecular structure of the material. This paper describes a single stage process for the creation of materials from simple, low-cost molecular building blocks, where the polymerisation of liquid epoxy resins and aliphatic amines in the presence of an n-butyl diboronic ester, delivers epoxy-amine-dioxazaborocane materials with tunable physical properties including glass transition temperature (Tg). Mechanical (thermal) recycling and reprocessing of the epoxy-amine-dioxazaborocane thermoset is demonstrated, with retention of Young's modulus and ultimate tensile strength. Most notably, an efficient and low-cost process for the chemical recycling, disassembly and dissolution of the thermoset is demonstrated via two complementary processes using either pinacol (diol) or mono-functional phenylboronic ester.

Abstract
A unique class of β-boron-functionalized non-steroidal anti-inflammatory compound (pinB-NSAID) was previously synthesized via copper-catalyzed 1,2-difunctionalization of the respective vinyl arene with CO2 and B2pin2 reagents. Here, pinacolylboron-functionalized ibuprofen (pinB-ibuprofen) was used as a model substrate to develop the conditions for pinacol deprotection and subsequent boron functionalization. Initial pinacol-boronic ester deprotection was achieved by transesterification with diethanolamine (DEA) from the boralactonate organic salt. The resulting DEA boronate adopts a spirocyclic boralactonate structure rather than a diazaborocane–DABO boronate structure. The subsequent acid-mediated hydrolysis of DEA and transesterification/transamination provided a diverse scope of new boron-containing ibuprofen derivatives.

Abstract
Complimentary to classical hydroboration and boron-Wittig reactions, a new, efficient access to cyclic 1,3-dienyl boronic esters has been developed via diene or triene metathesis. Subsequently, fused pyrroles were synthesized with a broad substrate scope from the reaction of cyclic 1,3-dienyl boronic esters with arylnitroso compounds using a one-pot hetero-Diels-Alder/ring contraction sequence.

Abstract
Amine-cured epoxy polymers were modified after curing, exploiting the reactivity of their intrinsic diethanolamine (DEA) units toward boronic acids. The condensation of DEA units with various boronic acids resulted in changes in the thermal, mechanical, and optical properties of the original amine-cured epoxy polymers.

Abstract
A study of the reactivity of 1-borodienes with nitrosoarene compounds has been carried out showing an outcome that differs according to the hybridization state of the boron moiety. Using an sp(2) boron substituent, a one-pot hetero-Diels-Alder/ring contraction cascade occurred to afford N-arylpyrroles with low to good yields depending on the electronic properties of the substituents on the borodiene, whereas an sp(3) boron substituent led to the formation of stable boro-oxazines with high regioselectivity in most of the cases, in moderate to good yields. (1)H and (11)B NMR studies on two boro-oxazine regioisomers showed that selective deprotection can be performed. Formation of either the pyrrole or the furan derivative is pH- and regioisomer-structure-dependent. The results obtained, together with previous B3LYP calculations, support mechanistic proposals which suggest that pyrrole, or furan, formation proceeds via oxazine formation, followed by a boryl rearrangement and an intramolecular addition-elimination sequence.
