Abstract
Palladacyclic architectures have been shown as versatile motifs in cross-coupling reactions. NHC-ligated palladacycles possessing unique electronic and steric properties have helped to stabilize the catalytically active species and provide additional control over reaction selectivity. Here, we report on a synthetic protocol leading to palladacycle complexes using a mild base and an environmentally desirable solvent, with a focus on complexes bearing backbone-substituted N-heterocyclic carbene ligands. The readily accessible complexes exhibit high catalytic activity in the Buchwald–Hartwig amination. This is achieved using low catalyst loading and mild reaction conditions in a green solvent.

Abstract
Unnatural base pairs (UBPs) which exhibit a selectivity against pairing with canonical nucleobases provide a powerful tool for the development of nucleic acid-based technologies. As an alternative strategy to the conventional UBP designs, which involve utility of different recognition modes at the Watson–Crick interface, we now report that the exclusive base pairing can be achieved through the spatial separation of recognition units. The design concept was demonstrated with the alkynylated purine (NPu, OPu) and pyridazine (NPz, OPz) nucleosides endowed with nucleobase-like 2-aminopyrimidine or 2-pyridone (‘pseudo-nucleobases’) on their major groove side. These alkynylated purines and pyridazines exhibited exclusive and stable pairing properties by the formation of complementary hydrogen bonds between the pseudo-nucleobases in the DNA major groove as revealed by comprehensive Tm measurements, 2D-NMR analyses, and MD simulations. Moreover, the alkynylated purine-pyridazine pairs enabled dramatic stabilization of the DNA duplex upon consecutive incorporation while maintaining a high sequence-specificity. The present study showcases the separation of the recognition interface as a promising strategy for developing new types of UBPs.

Abstract
Methods to functionalize arenes and heteroarenes in a site-selective manner are highly sought after for rapidly constructing value-added molecules of medicinal, agrochemical, and materials interest. One effective approach is the site-selective cross-coupling of polyhalogenated arenes bearing multiple, but identical, halogen groups. Such cross-coupling reactions have proven to be incredibly effective for site-selective functionalization. However, they also present formidable challenges due to the inherent similarities in the reactivities of the halogen substituents. In this Review, we discuss strategies for site-selective cross-couplings of polyhalogenated arenes and heteroarenes bearing identical halogens, beginning first with an overview of the reaction types that are more traditional in nature, such as electronically, sterically, and directing-group-controlled processes. Following these examples is a description of emerging strategies, which includes ligand- and additive/solvent-controlled reactions as well as photochemically initiated processes.

Ferrocenylimine Palladium (II) Complexes: Synthesis, Characterization and Application in Mizoroki-Heck and Suzuki-Miyaura Cross-Coupling Reactions. Catalysts 2021. Abstract
Carbon-carbon cross-coupling reactions are essential synthetic tools for synthesizing polymers, natural products, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Therefore, new catalysts that function with greater efficiency and functional group tolerance are being researched. We have prepared new ferrocenylimine monodentate N and P donor ligands and N^N and N^P bidentate chelating ligands (L1 to L4) employed in stabilizing palladium ions for application in Mizoroki-Heck and Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions. The ferrocenylimine ligands were successfully synthesized by Schiff base condensation reactions of acetyl ferrocene with hydrazine monohydrate to afford ferrocenyl hydrazone (L1). Ligand L1 was further treated with aldehydes to give ferrocenyl(2-diphenylphosphino)imine (L3) and ferrocenyl(pyridyl)imine (L3), while phosphination of L1 with chlorodiphenylphosphine afforded L2. The ligands were used to prepare new palladium(II) complexes (C1 to C4) by complexation with [PdCl2(MeCN)2]. All the ligands and complexes were fully characterized using standard spectroscopic and analytical techniques, including 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The complexes (C1 to C4) were tested for efficacies in catalyzing Mizoroki-Heck and Suzuki-Miyaura C-C cross-coupling reactions and proved to be suitable catalyst precursors. Ferrocenyl(2-diphenylphosphine)imino and ferrocenyl-methyl hydrazone palladium(II) complexes C2 and C3 showed the best activities at TONs of up to 201. The ferrocenyl palladium(II) (pre)catalysts demonstrated moderate activity in Mizoroki-Heck reactions involving substrates with substituents on the olefin and aryl halide (including 4-Cl, 4-CH3, -CO2Me and -CO2Et). Density Functional Theory was used to study the mechanism of the Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reactions and have led to confirmation of the widely accepted catalytic cycle. Catalyst precursors (C1 to C4) also displayed good activity and selectivity in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions, at 0.5 mol% catalyst loading, with good tolerance to functional groups present on the aryl halide and boronic acid substrates (such as 4-Cl, 4-CHO, 4-COOH, 3-NO2, 3,5-dimethoxy and 4-CH3).

Abstract
A continuous-flow method for the regioselective arylation of fluoroarenes and fluoropyridines has been developed. The telescoped procedure reported here consists of a three-step metalation, zincation, and Negishi cross-coupling sequence, providing efficient access to a variety of functionalized 2-fluorobiaryl products. Precise temperature control of the metalation step, made possible by continuous-flow technology, allowed for the efficient preparation of the arylated products in high yields and short residence times. Additionally, several examples of the regioselective arylation of benzotrifluoride derivatives are also provided.

Abstract
![]()
A palladacyclic precatalyst is employed
to cleanly generate a highly
active XantPhos-ligated Pd-catalyst. Its use in low temperature aminocarbonylations
of (hetero)aryl bromides provides access to a range of challenging
products in good to excellent yields with low catalyst loading and
only a slight excess of CO. Some products are unattainable by traditional
carbonylative coupling.

Abstract
tBu3P-Coordinated 2-phenylaniline-based palladacycle complex was demonstrated to be an efficient precatalyst for Pd-catalyzed coupling reactions of aryl halides with polyfluoroarenes via C-H activation strategy. The readily accessibility and easy handling nature of tBu3P- coordinated 2-aminobiphenyl-based palladacycle complex and the high yields of the reaction makes tBu3P-coordinated 2-aminobiphenyl-based palladacycle complex an attractive precatalyst for the cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides with polyfluoroarenes.

Abstract
An efficient system for the direct catalytic intermolecular α-arylation of acetamide derivatives with aryl bromides and chlorides is presented. The palladium catalyst is supported by Kwong's indole-based phosphine ligand and provides monoarylated amides in up to 95% yield. Excellent chemoselectivities (>10:1) in the mono- and diarylation with aryl bromides were achieved by careful selection of bases, solvents, and stoichiometry. Under the coupling conditions, the weakly acidic α-protons of amides (pKa up to 35) were reversibly depotonated by LiO t Bu, NaO t Bu, or NaN(SiMe3)2.

Abstract
Diarylmethylamines are of great interest due to their prevalence in pharmaceutical chemistry. As a result, new methods for their synthesis are in demand. Herein, we report a versatile protocol for the synthesis of diarylmethylamine derivatives involving palladium-catalyzed arylation of in situ generated 2-azaallyl anion intermediates. The 2-azaallyl anions are generated by reversible deprotonation of readily available aldimine and ketimine precursors. Importantly, the arylated aldimine and ketimine products do not undergo isomerization under the reaction conditions. Scale-up of the arylation and hydrolysis of the resulting products to furnish diarylmethylamines were also successfully performed.

Abstract
Ammoniomethyl trifluoroborates are very powerful reagents that can be used to access biologically relevant aryl- and heteroaryl-methylamine motifs via Suzuki-Miyaura cross-couplings. Until now, this method was limited to the production of tertiary and primary amines. The synthesis of a large array of secondary ammoniomethyltrifluoroborates has been achieved through a one step nucleophilic substitution reaction on the potassium bromomethyltrifluoroborate. Smooth cross-coupling conditions have been designed, based on the use of an aminobiphenyl palladium precatalyst, to couple these trifluoroborates efficiently with aryl bromides. This strategy offers a new way to access biologically relevant motifs and allows, with the previously developed methods, access to all three classes of aminomethylarenes.
