Abstract
An innovative label-free electrochemical aptasensing platform has been designed for detection of insulin using functionalized mesoporous silica thin-film (MSTF) coated on a glassy carbon electrode through the one-step electrochemically assisted self-assembly (EASA) method. This strategy is contingent upon the covalent attachment of a complementary DNA (cDNA) oligonucleotide sequence on the mesoporous silica surface, for which further hybridization with its labeled aptamer as a gating molecule restricts the diffusion of the electroactive probe (Fe(CN)63-/4-) toward the electrode surface by the closing of mesochannels. Upon insulin introduction as the stimulus target molecule, hybridization between aptamer and cDNA is efficiently destroyed, which triggers the opening of nanochannels to facilitate redox probe diffusion toward the electrode with a noticeable increase in differential pulse voltammetry signal. The proposed aptasensor showed a wide detection ranging from 10.0 to 350.0 nM and a suitable detection limit of 3.0 nM. This method offers the sensitive and rapid detection of insulin without the need for cargo (dye/fluorophore) as an electrochemical marker inside the pore, at low cost and with a fast modification time.

Abstract
An efficient, selective, sensitive, and rapid ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method was established and validated for the quantification of pramipexole dihydrochloride monohydrate and levodopa simultaneously in human plasma with the aid of diphenhydramine as an internal standard. A simple protein precipitation technique with HPLC grade acetonitrile was efficiently utilized for the cleanup of plasma. The analysis was performed using a Hypersil gold 50 mm × 2.1 mm (1.9 µm) column and a mobile phase of 0.2% formic acid and methanol (90: 10 v/v). The triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer equipped with an electrospray source operated in the positive mode was set up in the selective reaction monitoring mode (SRM) to detect the ion transitions m/z 212.15 →153.01, m/z 198.10→ 135.16, and m/z 255.75 → 166.16 for pramipexole dihydrochloride monohydrate, levodopa, and diphenhydramine, respectively. The method was thoroughly validated according to FDA guidelines and proved to be linear, accurate, and precise over the range 100-4000 pg/mL for pramipexole dihydrochloride monohydrate and 60-4000 ng/mL for levodopa. The proposed method was effectively applied for monitoring both drugs in plasma samples of healthy volunteers.

Abstract
Iron containing nanoporous MCM-41 (FeMCM-41) with different Si/Fe ratios of 50, 100 and 150 was synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis process. The materials obtained from hydrothermal synthesis were characterized by various physico chemical techniques such as XRD, N2 adsorption, DR UV-vis, EPR and FTIR spectroscopy. XRD analyses of FeMCM-41 materials confirmed the presence of well-ordered crystalline structure. N2 isotherm of FeMCM-41 materials showed type IV adsorption isotherm. EPR and DR UV-vis analysis of FeMCM-41 samples indicates the presence of high tetrahedral coordination at the Si/Fe ratios of 100 and 150. The catalytic performance of FeMCM-41 nano tubular reactor was tested in the liquid phase oxidation of vanillyl alcohol into vanillin using H2O2 (50[Formula: see text]wt% in water). The reaction products were analyzed by gas chromatography in DB-5 capillary column with flame ionization detector. The products were confirmed by 1H NMR, [Formula: see text]C NMR and LC-Mass spectroscopy. The maximum conversion of vanillyl alcohol (85%) and selectivity towards vanillin (82%) were observed using the catalyst FeMCM-41(100) in 30[Formula: see text]min at 60[Formula: see text]C. The influence of reaction temperature, reaction time, reactants molar ratio, Si/Fe ratio and amount of catalyst were investigated.
