Abstract
The selective cleavage of C-O bonds in typical model lignin β-O-4 compounds and deconstruction of a realistic lignin feedstock catalyzed by Re2 O7 is described. High yields of C-O cleavage products (up to 97.8 %) from model compounds and oils (76.3 %) from organosolv pinewood lignin were obtained under mild conditions. Evidence for the pathway of this catalytic process is also provided.

Abstract
Rh-catalyzed one-step reductive amidation of aldehydes has been developed. The protocol does not require an external hydrogen source and employs carbon monoxide as a deoxygenative agent. The direction of the reaction can be altered simply by changing the solvent: reaction in THF leads to amides, whereas methanol favors formation of tertiary amines.

Abstract
A straightforward process for the N-alkylation of amines has been developed applying readily available carboxylic acids and silanes as the hydride source. Complementary to known reductive aminations, effective C-N bond construction proceeds under mild conditions and allows obtaining a broad range of alkylated secondary and tertiary amines, including fluoroalkyl-substituted anilines as well as the bioactive compound Cinacalcet HCl.

Abstract
A parallel reductive amination of heteroaromatic amines has been performed using a combination of ZnCl2-TMSOAc (activating agents) and NaBH(OAc)3 (reducing agent). A library of diverse secondary amines was easily prepared on a 50-300 mg scale.

Abstract
A mild and efficient method for N-alkylation of aromatic amines with various acetals such as aryl, alkyl, cyclic and acyclic acetals was developed. A number of aromatic amines bearing electron-donating or electron-withdrawing substituents were directly alkylated by acetals with excellent yields. The method uses a catalytic amount of I2 and triethylsilane as the hydride source without a metal present. Monoalkylation with excellent chemoselectivity was observed.

Abstract
The first example of direct reductive amination (DRA) of ketones with electron-deficient amines (EDA) such as Cbz-, Boc-, EtOCO-, Fmoc-, Bz-, ArSO2-, etc. protected amines have been achieved using catalytic Re2O7/NaPF6. Excellent chemoselectivities as well as diastereoselectivity (for 2-alkyl cyclohexanones) were obtained.
