Abstract
Combining a strong second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) effect (>1×KH2PO4 (KDP)), a large band gap (>4.2 eV), and a moderate birefringence in ultraviolet (UV) NLO crystals remains a formidable challenge. Herein, Cd(SCN)2(C4H6N2)2, the first example of a thiocyanate capable of realizing a phase-matched UV NLO crystal material, is obtained by reducing the sulfur (S) content in the centrosymmetric (CS) structure of Cd(SCN)2(CH4N2S)2. Compared to the "shoulder-to-shoulder" one-dimensional (1D) chain of Cd(SCN)2(CH4N2S)2, Cd(SCN)2(C4H6N2)2 has a different sawtooth 1D chain structure. Cd(SCN)2(CH4N2S)2 has second harmonic generation (SHG) inertia with a band gap of 3.90 eV and a UV cutoff edge of 342 nm, however, it possesses a large birefringence (0.35@546 nm). In contrast, the symmetry center breaking of Cd(SCN)2(C4H6N2)2 leads to remarkably strong SHG intensity (10 times that of KDP). Furthermore, it has a wide band gap (4.74 eV), short UV cutoff edge (234 nm), and moderate birefringence capable of phase matching (0.17@546 nm). This research indicates that thiocyanates are a promising class of UV NLO crystal materials, and that modulation of the sulfur content of CS thiocyanates is an effective strategy for the development of UV NLO crystals with excellent overall performances.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to design a unique bioelectrode for the quantitative analysis of a potential cancer biomarker, platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB), which can be used for the early detection of cancer. We report the fabrication of succinic acid-capped selenomolybdate polyoxometalate nanodots, POM (SA), decorated antimonene hybrid film on glassy carbon as a suitable bioelectrode. Antimonene nanosheets, synthesized by the chemical exfoliation of antimony provided a large surface area for the symmetric dispersal of POM (SA) nanodots, resulting in site-specific covalent immobilization of the aptamer, PDGF-BB. A comprehensive electrochemical immunosensing investigation was performed on the electrode for sensing of a target antigen, Ag-PDGF-BB. The sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility of the bioelectrode were investigated using a best-fit equivalent circuit model that fitted the impedance response. The bioelectrode showed a linear impedimetric response in a broad range for Ag-PDGF-BB (10 pM to 100 nM in pH 7.4 PB) with a limit of detection of 3.5 pM and sensitivity of 80 Ω cm2 per decade. The response sensitivity of the POM(SA)/antimonene hybrid based bioelectrode toward PDGF-BB was approximately ∼1.8-fold higher than that of the POM(SA) only modified bioelectrode. The dissociation constant of immunoreaction between the aptamer-functionalized bioelectrode and target Ag-PDGF-BB was 76 nM, indicating a high binding affinity between the aptamer PDGF-BB and target Ag-PDGF-BB on the electrode surface.

Abstract
The alkali-metal molybdate iodate Na3(MoO4)(IO3) (I) and mixed-alkali-metal fluoromolybdate Na3Cs(MoO2F4)2 (II) were obtained via a mild hydrothermal reaction using a "Teflon-pouch" method. I crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1, whose structure comprises a 3D backbone made up of isolated [IO3]- pyramids and [MoO4]2- tetrahedra connected via 5- and 6-fold coordinated sodium cations. II crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c and comprises isolated [MoO2F4]2- octahedra with strong out-of-center distortions and the Na+ as well as Cs+ cations acting as interstitial ions. Both compounds have been characterized by infrared (IR) spectra and ultraviolet-visible-near-infrared (UV-vis-NIR) diffuse reflectance spectra. First-principles calculations respectively reveal that they exhibit birefringence values with Δn = 0.078 and 0.210 at 1064 nm for I and II, and the origin of the birefringence is discussed.

Abstract
Abstract
Single crystals of two cesium rare-earth molybdates CsLn(MoO4)2 (Ln=Eu, Tb) have been prepared using the high temperature molten salt (flux) method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that they crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pccm (No. 49) and features a 2D layer structure that is composed of [Ln(MoO4)2]∞ and [Cs]∞ layers. Under near-UV light excitation, emission spectrum of CsEu(MoO4)2 consists of several sharp lines due to the characteristic electronic transitions of Eu3+ ions, whereas CsTb(MoO4)2 exhibits characteristic green emission of Tb3+ ions.

Abstract
The combination of cations with octahedral coordinated d0 transition metal ions has been proved to be an effective way for designing new polar materials. So we investigate the second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of Strandberg-type polyoxometalates (POMs) with alkali metal cations M 6 Mo 5 X 2 O 23 ( M = K +, Rb +, Cs +; X = P , As ) and M 4 M o5 X 2 O 21 ( M = K +, Rb +, Cs +; X = S , Se , Te ) by density functional theory (DFT) method. The calculated results show that this kind of Strandberg-type POMs possesses remarkably large molecular second-order NLO polarizability, especially for the Cs 6 Mo 5 P 2 O 23 (system Ic), which has a computed β0 value of 12526 a.u. and might be an excellent second-order NLO material. Moreover, the cations have important impact on the second-order NLO polarizabilities. Therefore, a careful choice of appropriate cations may allow the control of the second-order NLO response on these Strandberg-type POMs, which may provide a new route to design efficient NLO materials.

Abstract
The chemical system based on [SeMo6O21](4-) polyanion and carboxylate ligand has been investigated. According to the inherent nature of organic groups, a series of selenomolybdates with three architectures have been isolated through rational and deliberate synthetic routes by stereospecific addition of different carboxylic acids. Such an approach is potentially interesting for {SeMo6} cluster, which exhibits a high surface nucleophilicity and is capable of being functionalized by covalently bound carboxylic acids. Investigation of the assemblies reveals that carboxylic acids have good flexibility and conformational freedom, representing the powerful chemical tools to control the polyanion assembly processes.

Abstract
A noncentrosymmetric chiral Strandberg-type polyoxometalate based material, Cs(4)Mo(5)P(2)O(22), that contains unusual one dimensional chains constructed from [Mo(5)P(2)O(23)](6-) units has been reported. Cs(4)Mo(5)P(2)O(22) shows a moderate SHG response, and is phase-matchable.
