Novel multi-component hybrids through double luminescent lanthanide unit functionalized zeolite L and titania

Zeolite L (ZL) is functionalized with inside-outside double modification paths (gas disperse ("ship in bottle") and covalently grafting) with two kinds of luminescent lanthanide species (Tb(3+) complex of acetylacetone (AA), lanthanide polyoxometalate (NaLnW10O36·32H2O, abbreviated as LnW10, Ln=Eu, Tb)) to prepare the hybrid materials. The prepared hybrids show the red and green luminescence, which provides a useful path to obtain multi-component lanthanide hybrids.

Hybrid luminescence materials assembled by [Ln(DPA)3](3-) and mesoporous host through ion-pairing interactions with high quantum efficiencies and long lifetimes

A kind of mesoporous hybrid luminescence material was assembled through the ion exchange method between [Ln(DPA)₃]³⁻ and ionic liquid functionalized SBA-15. [Ln(DPA)₃]³⁻ was successfully anchored onto positive-charge modified SBA-15 by the strong electrostatic interaction. In [Ln(DPA)₃]³⁻, Ln³⁺ ions are in 9-fold coordination through six oxygen atoms of carboxyl groups and three nitrogen atoms of pyridine units, leaving no coordination site for water molecules. Therefore the hybrids possess prominent luminescent properties, SBA-15-IMI-Tb(DPA)₃ and SBA-15-IMI-Eu(DPA)₃ exhibit high quantum yield values of 63% and 79%, and long lifetimes values of 2.38 ms and 2.34 ms, respectively. Especially, SBA-15-IMI-Eu(DPA)₃ presents a high color purity, and the red/orange intensity ratio is as high as 7.6. The excellent luminescence properties and ordered mesoporous structures give rise to many potential applications in optical and electronic areas.

Photofunctional nanocomposites based on the functionalization of metal–organic frameworks by up/down conversion luminescent nanophosphors

A novel strategy is demonstrated to construct photofunctional nanocomposites by composing surfactant-capped nanophosphors and a zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) unit. These nanocomposites show tunable luminescence performance for different photoactive units under different excitation. These provide useful data for potential applications in optical devices.

A highly selective and sensitive heterogeneous sensor to detect Cu²⁺ in aqueous solution has good fluorescence stability, low detection limit and broad linear range making it a potential chemosensor for Cu²⁺ in environmental systems.

Multicomponent hybrids of surfactant-capped lanthanide polyoxometalates and ZIF-8 with tuneable luminescence

Two kinds of surfactant-functionalized lanthanide polyoxometalates and ZIF-8 nanoparticles were diffused together in polymer hosts, whose luminescence colour can be tuned by adjusting the composing units to provide useful data for multicomponent hybrids.

Novel photofunctional hybrid materials (alumina and titania) functionalized with both MOF and lanthanide complexes through coordination bonds

Multi-component sol–gel derived alumina and titania hybrid materials are assembled by the functionalization of both lanthanide complexes and a special metal organic framework compound: Al-MIL-53-COOH through coordination bonds. Multi-color luminescence and white colored light can be tuned by controlling the different units in the hybrid system.
