Abstract
Pyrimidine-hydrazone and phosphole architectures have been combined to create a new heteroditopic ligand capable of forming heterobimetallic ZnII/PdII, PbII/PdII and CuII/PdII complexes in high yielding stepwise or one pot reactions. The catalytic activity of these complexes in Heck coupling and Miyaura borylation reactions was investigated.

Abstract
A divergent strategy for the synthesis of the tricyclic 6,7-diaryltetrahydro-6H-benzo[c]chromene core was successfully developed. The 2,3-trans, 2,4-cis trisubstituted chroman moiety was formed via highly efficient and stereoselective Pt(IV)-catalyzed cycloaddition reactions of the corresponding quinone methides with chalcones. Subsequent steps provided the common diene alcohol, which underwent BF3·Et2O-mediated Et3SiH reduction and olefin ring-closing metathesis (RCM) using Ru(II) catalysts. The sequence of the final two steps provided a handle to diversify the stereochemical outcomes at C6 as well as C10a.

Abstract
Supramolecular reactions are of importance in many fields. We report herein three examples where complexes of hydrazone-based ligands are involved. A Ag2-double-helicate was converted, by treatment with Zn(OTf)2, into a Zn4-grid (exchange of metal ions and change of the nature of the initial complex). A Pb4-grid was converted, upon reaction with ZnCl2 or ZnBr2, into a Zn4-grid (exchange of metal ions, but conservation of the nature of the initial complex). The reverse conversions were also achieved. The fusion of a Ag2-double-helicate with another Ag2-double-helicate was performed (exchange of ligands, but conservation of the nature of the complexes) and resulted in a mixture of three helicates (two homostranded ones and one heterostranded one).

Abstract
General design principles have been developed for the control of the structural features of polyheterocyclic strands and their effector-modulated shape changes. Induced defined molecular motions permit designed enforcement of helical as well as linear molecular shapes. The ability of such molecular strands to bind metal cations allows the generation of coiling/uncoiling processes between helically folded and extended linear states. Large molecular motions are produced on coordination of metal ions, which may be made reversible by competition with an ancillary complexing agent and fueled by sequential acid/base neutralization energy. The introduction of hydrazone units into the strands confers upon them constitutional dynamics, whereby interconversion between different strand compositions is achieved through component exchange. These features have relevance for nanomechanical devices. We present a morphological and functional analysis of such systems developed in our laboratories.
