Abstract
Reactive radicals are crucial for activating inert and low-polarity C(sp3)-H bonds for the fabrication of high value-added products. Herein, novel single-crystal oxygen-rich bismuth oxybromide nanosheets (Bi4O5Br2 SCNs) with more than 85 % {10-1} facets exposure and oxygen defects were synthesized via a facile solvothermal route. The Bi4O5Br2 SCNs demonstrated excellent photocatalytic performance in the selective oxidation of toluene under blue light. The yield of benzaldehyde was 1876.66 μmol g-1 h-1, with a selectivity of approximately 90 %. Compared to that of polycrystalline Bi4O5Br2 nanosheets (Bi4O5Br2 PCNs), the activity of Bi4O5Br2 SCNs exhibit a 21-fold increase. Experimental studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations have demonstrated that the defect Bi4O5Br2 (10-1) facets exhibits exceptional adsorption properties for O2 molecules. In addition, the single-crystal structure in the presence of surface defects significantly increases the separation and transport of photogenerated carriers, resulting in the effective activation of adsorbed O2 into superoxide radicals (•O2-). Subsequently, the positively charged phenylmethyl H is readily linked to the negatively charged superoxide radical anion, thereby activating the CH bond. This study offers a fresh perspective and valuable insights into the development of efficient molecular oxygen-activated photocatalysts and their application in the selective catalytic conversion of aromatic C(sp3)-H bonds.

Abstract
Resolving anion configurations in heteroanionic materials is crucial for understanding and controlling their properties. For anion-disordered oxyfluorides, conventional Bragg diffraction cannot fully resolve the anionic structure, necessitating alternative structure determination methods. We have investigated the anionic structure of anion-disordered cubic (ReO3-type) TiOF2 using X-ray pair distribution function (PDF), 19F MAS NMR analysis, density functional theory (DFT), cluster expansion modeling, and genetic-algorithm structure prediction. Our computational data predict short-range anion ordering in TiOF2, characterized by predominant cis-[O2F4] titanium coordination, resulting in correlated anion disorder at longer ranges. To validate our predictions, we generated partially disordered supercells using genetic-algorithm structure prediction and computed simulated X-ray PDF data and 19F MAS NMR spectra, which we compared directly to experimental data. To construct our simulated 19F NMR spectra, we derived new transformation functions for mapping calculated magnetic shieldings to predicted magnetic chemical shifts in titanium (oxy)fluorides, obtained by fitting DFT-calculated magnetic shieldings to previously published experimental chemical shift data for TiF4. We find good agreement between our simulated and experimental data, which supports our computationally predicted structural model and demonstrates the effectiveness of complementary experimental and computational techniques in resolving anionic structure in anion-disordered oxyfluorides. From additional DFT calculations, we predict that increasing anion disorder makes lithium intercalation more favorable by, on average, up to 2 eV, highlighting the significant effect of variations in short-range order on the intercalation properties of anion-disordered materials.

Abstract
A TiO2/TiOF2 composite has been synthesized through a hydrothermal method and characterized using X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, UV-vis diffuse reflectance, SEM-EDX, TEM, and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms. The percentage of exposed facet [001] and the composition of TiO2/TiOF2 in the composite were controlled by adjusting the amount of HF and hydrothermal temperature synthesis. Three crucial factors in the photocatalytic conversion of methane to methanol, including the photocatalyst, electron scavenger (FeCl2), and H2O2 were evaluated using a statistical approach. All factors were found to have a significant impact on the photocatalytic reaction and exhibited a synergistic effect that enhanced methanol production. The highest methanol yield achieved was 0.7257 μmole h-1 gcat-1. The presence of exposed [001] and fluorine (F) in the catalyst is believed to enhance the adsorption of reactant molecules and provide a more oxidative site. The Fenton cycle reaction between FeCl2 and H2O2 was attributed to reducing recombination and extending the charge carrier lifetime. Incorporating Ag into the TiO2/TiOF2 catalyst results in a significant 2.2-fold enhancement in methanol yield. Additionally, the crucial involvement of hydroxyl radicals in the comprehensive reaction mechanism highlights their importance in influencing the process of photocatalytic methane-to-methanol conversion.

Abstract
{001}TiO2/TiOF2 photocatalytic composites with a high activity {001} crystal plane were prepared by one-step hydrothermal methods using butyl titanate as a titanium source and hydrofluoric acid as a fluorine source. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), raman spectroscopy, N2 adsorption-desorption curve (BET), UV-Vis diffuse absorption spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and fluorescence spectroscopy (PL) were used to evaluate the structure, morphology, specific surface area, optical properties, and photocarrier separation ability of {001}TiO2/TiOF2. Ammonia nitrogen was taken as the target pollutant, and the degradation performance of the catalyst was investigated. The results show that hydrofluoric acid improves the content of {001} crystal plane of TiO2 with high activity; it also improves the specific surface area and dispersion of the composite material and adjusts the ratio of {001}TiO2 to TiOF2 in the composite material to enhance the absorption capacity of the composite material and reduce the band gap width of the composite material. The degradation rate of ammonia nitrogen by 100 mg F15 is 93.19% when the initial concentration of ammonia nitrogen is 100 mg/L and pH is 10. Throughout the reaction process, the {001}TiO2/TiOF2 composite produces superoxide anion radical (·O2-) and hydroxyl radical (·OH) to oxidize NH3·H2O and generate N2 accompanied by a small amount of NO3- and NO2-.

Abstract
In this work, the phase purity and size of zirconia nanocrystals samples were studied in terms of zirconium concentration, added water content, and subsequent use of a post solvothermal treatment. The progressive tetragonal-to-monoclinic transformation of zirconia sample was observed to be strongly related to the water content of the alcoholic medium. But more surprisingly, it has been shown that even under initially anhydrous conditions and for particle size below 5 nm, the phase purity of the samples was deteriorated by a side-reaction of alcohol dehydration catalyzed by the surface of the nanoparticles (NPs). Since the phase transformation is essentially driven by the water content of the reaction mixture, we have shown that it was possible to recover an excellent phase purity without the help of any usual dopants by adding a strong alkaline desiccating agent. Provided that a sufficient sodium to zirconium ratio was ensured, the formation of the monoclinic phase was not observed whatever the zirconium precursor concentration. The effectiveness of this cure was related to the ability of sodium metal to generate reactive alkoxide able to neutralize water and to catalyze an alternative sol-gel mechanism leading to the formation of the t-ZrO2 NPs.

Abstract
TiO2/TiOF2 nanohybrids were quickly synthesized through a hydrothermal process using titanium n-butoxide (TBOT), ethanol (C2H5OH) and hydrofluoric acid as precursors. The prepared nanohybrids underwent additional NaOH treatment (OH-TiO2/TiOF2) to enhance their photocatalytic performance. In this paper, the mechanism of NaOH affecting the pathway of transformation from TBOT (Ti precursor) to TiO2 nanosheets was discussed. The synthesized TiO2/TiOF2 and OH-TiO2/TiOF2 were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), Fourier infrared spectroscopic analysis (FT-IR), Photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra and UV-visible diffuse reflection spectra (UV-vis DRS). The photocatalytic activity and stability of synthesized samples were evaluated by degradation of methylene blue (MB) under the simulated solar light. The results showed that a larger ratio of TiO2 to TiOF2 in TiO2/TiOF2 and OH-TiO2/TiOF2 nanohybrids could allow for even higher MB conversion compared with only TiO2 nanosheets. NaOH treatment can wash off the F ions from TiOF2 and induce this larger ratio. The highest efficiency of MB removal was just above 90% in 1 h. Lower electron-hole pairs recombination rate is the dominant factor that induces the photocatalytic performance enhancement of TiO2/TiOF2 nanohybrids. The synthesized OH-TiO2/TiOF2 nanohybrids exhibit great potential in the abatement of organic pollutants.

Abstract
With the aid of breakthroughs in nanoscience and nanotechnology, it is imperative to develop metal oxide semiconductors through visible light-driven hydrogen generation. In this study, TiOF2 was incorporated as an n-type F-dopant source to TiO2 mesocrystals (TMCs) with visible-light absorption during the topotactic transformation. The crystal growth, structural change, and dynamic morphological evolution, from the initial intermediate NH4 TiOF3 to HTiOF3, TiOF2, and F-doped TMCs, were verified through in situ temperature-dependent techniques to elucidate the doping mechanism from intermediate TiOF2. The visible-light efficiencies of photocatalytic hydrogen were dependent on the contents of the dopant as compared with the pure TMC and a controled reference. Using femtosecond time-resolved diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, the charge-transfer dynamics were monitored to confirm the improvement of charge separation after doping.

Abstract
Titanium oxyhydroxy-fluoride, TiO0.9(OH)0.9F1.2 · 0.59H2O rods with a hexagonal tungsten bronze (HTB) structure, was synthesized via a facile one-step solvothermal method. The structure, morphology, and component of the products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetry (TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES), ion chromatograph, energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyses, and so on. Different rod morphologies which ranged from nanoscale to submicron scale were simply obtained by adjusting reaction conditions. With one-dimension channels for Li/Na intercalation/de-intercalation, the electrochemical performance of titanium oxyhydroxy-fluoride for both lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) was also studied. Electrochemical tests revealed that, for LIBs, titanium oxyhydroxy-fluoride exhibited a stabilized reversible capacity of 200 mAh g(-1) at 25 mA g(-1) up to 120 cycles in the electrode potential range of 3.0-1.2 V and 140 mAh g(-1) at 250 mA g(-1) up to 500 cycles, especially; for SIBs, a high capacity of 100 mAh g(-1) was maintained at 25 mA g(-1) after 115 cycles in the potential range of 2.9-0.5 V.

Abstract
The porous single-crystal-like micro/nanomaterials exhibited splendid intrinsic performance in photocatalysts, dye-sensitized solar cells, gas sensors, lithium cells, and many other application fields. Here, a novel mesoporous single-crystal-like Bi2WO6 tetragonal architecture was first achieved in the mixed molten salt system. Its crystal construction mechanism originated from the oriented attachment of nanosheet units accompanied by Ostwald ripening process. Additionally, the synergistic effect of mixed alkali metal nitrates and electrostatic attraction caused by internal electric field in crystal played a pivotal role in oriented attachment process of nanosheet units. The obtained sample displayed superior photocatalytic activity of both organic dye degradation and O2 evolution from water under visible light. We gained an insight into this unique architecture's impact on the physical properties, light absorption, photoelectricity, and luminescent decay, etc., that significantly influenced photocatalytic activity.
