Multi-component luminescence responsive Eu3+/Tb3+ hybrids based with metal-organic frameworks and zeolites A

Both Zeolite A (ZA) and two kinds of 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid (H₂bpydc) linking meta-organic frameworks (MOFs) (MOF-253 (Al(OH)(bpydc)) and UiO-67 ([Zr₆O₄(OH)₄(bpydc)₆])) have been used to construct novel photofunctional multi-component lanthanide hybrid materials through covalent-coordination cooperative assembly. Microporous ZA is firstly functionalized by covalently grafting of the surface hydroxyl groups using special silane crosslinking reagent 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPTMS). Then the multi-component assembly are realized by coordination interaction between lanthanide ions (Eu³⁺/Tb³⁺), ZA through the carbonyl group of MPTMS unit and MOF-253 (or UiO-67) through the double nitrogen of bpydc linker. Subsequently, the obtained multicomponent hybrid materials (ZA-MPTMS-Eu/Tb-MOF-253(UiO-67)) are characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR, SEM and especially the photoluminescence properties are studied in details. These hybrids with both ZA and MOFs host show the main characteristic crystal framework morphology of ZA together with the composition of MOFs. They display the feature luminescence of Eu³⁺/Tb³⁺ ions for the energy transfer from bpydc linker of MOFs. Furthermore, ZA-MPTMS-Eu-UiO-67 hybrid material is selected to check the luminescence response to volatile substances, whose luminescence quenching is found for ammonia vapor.

Tailoring spatial distribution of Eu(TTA)3phen within electrospun polyacrylonitrile nanofibers for high fluorescence efficiency

Hybrid materials based on novel 2D lanthanide coordination polymers covalently bonded to amine-modified SBA-15 and MCM-41: assembly, characterization, structural features, thermal and luminescence properties

Hybrid luminescence materials assembled by [Ln(DPA)3](3-) and mesoporous host through ion-pairing interactions with high quantum efficiencies and long lifetimes

A kind of mesoporous hybrid luminescence material was assembled through the ion exchange method between [Ln(DPA)₃]³⁻ and ionic liquid functionalized SBA-15. [Ln(DPA)₃]³⁻ was successfully anchored onto positive-charge modified SBA-15 by the strong electrostatic interaction. In [Ln(DPA)₃]³⁻, Ln³⁺ ions are in 9-fold coordination through six oxygen atoms of carboxyl groups and three nitrogen atoms of pyridine units, leaving no coordination site for water molecules. Therefore the hybrids possess prominent luminescent properties, SBA-15-IMI-Tb(DPA)₃ and SBA-15-IMI-Eu(DPA)₃ exhibit high quantum yield values of 63% and 79%, and long lifetimes values of 2.38 ms and 2.34 ms, respectively. Especially, SBA-15-IMI-Eu(DPA)₃ presents a high color purity, and the red/orange intensity ratio is as high as 7.6. The excellent luminescence properties and ordered mesoporous structures give rise to many potential applications in optical and electronic areas.

Polyacrylamide modified mesoporous SBA-16 hybrids encapsulated with a lanthanide (Eu3+/Tb3+) complex

Novel polymeric mesoporous luminescent hybrids have been synthesized by linking the binary and ternary Ln³⁺ complexes to polyacrylamide-functionalized mesoporous SBA-16 in situ. The excellent luminescent properties of these materials together with the highly ordered mesoporous structure will expand their applications in optical or electronic areas.
