Abstract
A one-pot method for the synthesis of silylsubstituted/methylsubstituted indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolin-6(5H)-ones and benzimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-6(5H)-ones via copper(II)-initiated silylation/methylation of 2-arylindoles and 2-arylbenzimidazoles was developed. In this procedure, the C-Si bond and C-C bond were constructed by radical addition and cyclization. A series of 2-arylindole and 2-arylbenzimidazole derivatives were facilely transformed to indolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines and benzimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinolines in 39-83% yields.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed remote benzylic C-H functionalization strategy enabling 1,2-difunctionalization of alkenes with 2-methylbenzeneamides and nucleophiles, including alcohols, indoles, pyrroles, and the intrinsic amino groups, is reported, which is characterized by its redox-neutral conditions, exquisite site-selectivity, broad substrate scope, and wide utilizations of late-stage modifying bioactive molecules. This reaction proceeds through nitrogen-centered radical generation, hydrogen atom transfer, benzylic radical addition across the alkenes, single-electron oxidation, and carbocation electrophilic course cascades. While using external nucleophiles manipulates three-component alkene alkylalkoxylation and alkyl-heteroarylation with 2-methylbenzeneamides to access dialkyl ethers, 3-alkylindoles, and 3-alkylpyrroles, omitting the external nucleophiles results in two-component alkylamidation ([5+2] annulation) of alkenes with 2-methylbenzeneamides to benzo-[f][1,2]thiazepine 1,1-dioxides.

Abstract
A practical synthetic route to construct a variety of 3-benzyl spiro[4,5]trienones was developed via transition-metal Cu/Ag-catalyzed oxidative ipso-annulation of activated alkynes with unactivated toluenes using TBPB as an oxidant under microwave irradiation. This method allows the formation of two carbon-carbon bonds and one carbon-oxygen bond in a single reaction through a sequence of C-H oxidative coupling, ipso-carbocyclization and dearomatization. The advantages of this protocol are its operational simplicity and broad substrate scope, and the ability to afford the desired products in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed oxidative intramolecular cyclization of o-alkylated anilines via cleavage of C(sp3)-H and N-H bonds for the production of indolines is described. This approach provides a straightforward strategy for the synthesis of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds through the functionalization of unactivated C(sp3)-H bonds with high site selectivity. The present catalytic system shows high preference for functionalization of unactivated C(sp3)-H bonds over C(sp2)-H bonds, leading to C-N bond formation.

Abstract
A practical Fe-catalyzed decarbonylative cascade reaction of N-aryl cinnamamides with aliphatic aldehydes to provide C3 alkylated 3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-ones is developed. Aliphatic aldehydes were oxidatively decarbonylated into 1°, 2° and 3° alkyl radicals conveniently, allowing for the subsequent cascade construction of C(sp3)-C(sp3) and C(sp3)-C(sp2) bonds via radical addition and HAS-type cyclization. The importance of the amide linkage and the selectivity of the 6-endo-trig over 5-exo-trig cyclization pathway were elucidated by experimental results and DFT calculations.

Abstract
An unprecedented benzylic C-H functionalization of methyl arenes across unactivated alkenes is presented. In the presence of MnCl2·4H2O and di- tert-butyl peroxide, N-allyl anilines underwent benzylation/cyclization cascade to give benzylated indolines, which are a previously unmet synthetic goal. This protocol features simple operation, broad substrate scope, and great exo selectivity.

Abstract
A metal-free cross-dehydrogenative coupling of quinones with toluene derivatives has been established. A series of quinones were subjected to reaction with toluene derivatives in the presence of di-tertbutyl peroxide (DTBP) for direct synthesis of benzylquinones. The method exhibits good functional group tolerance, and desired products were obtained in moderate to good yields. Meanwhile, a radical pathway was proposed to describe the cross-dehydrogenative coupling of quinones with toluene derivatives. A metal-free cross-dehydrogenative coupling of quinones with toluene derivatives has been established. A series of quinones were subjected to reaction with toluene derivatives in the presence of DTBP for direct synthesis of benzylquinones.![]()

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed alkylarylation of active alkenes with tertiary benzylamines was achieved by charge-transfer-complex promoted C-N bond activation. The reaction proceeded through initial Ni-catalyzed C-N bond activation, followed by sequential radical addition, redox and proton abstraction with cleaved amine moiety in the absence of oxidant, and provides an efficient method to prepare various alkyl-substituted oxindoles and dihydroquinolinones in good yields.

Abstract
The copper-catalyzed cyclization of activated alkenes with cyclobutanone O-acyl oximes under redox-neutral conditions has been reported. This facile protocol provided an efficient approach to a variety of cyanoalkylated oxindoles and dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-ones with a broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance. In this reaction, sequential C-C bond cleavage, radical addition, and cyclization processes were involved, wherein multiple bonds were constructed in a one-pot reaction. Mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction probably proceeded via a radical pathway.

Abstract
Research and industrial interest in radical C-H activation/radical cross-coupling chemistry has continuously grown over the past few decades. These reactions offer fascinating and unconventional approaches toward connecting molecular fragments with high atom- and step-economy that are often complementary to traditional methods. Success in this area of research was made possible through the development of photocatalysis and first-row transition metal catalysis along with the use of peroxides as radical initiators. This Review provides a brief and concise overview of the current status and latest methodologies using radicals or radical cations as key intermediates produced via radical C-H activation. This Review includes radical addition, radical cascade cyclization, radical/radical cross-coupling, coupling of radicals with M-R groups, and coupling of radical cations with nucleophiles (Nu).

Abstract
A Ag-catalyzed phosphorus radical promoted cyclization of cinnamamides to give exclusively 2-phosphinoyl-3H-pyrrolo[1,2-a]indoles derivatives via a 5-endo-trig manner is described. This novel reaction leads to the simultaneous formation of C-C and C-P bonds in one step with excellent chemo- (only 5-endo) and diastereoselectivity (dr >20:1) under mild conditions in moderate to good yields.
