Abstract
Aerobic oxidative cross-coupling represents one of the most straightforward and atom-economic methods for construction of C-C and C-X (X=N, O, S, or P) bonds using air as a sustainable external oxidant. The oxidative coupling of C-H bonds in heterocyclic compounds can effectively increase their molecular complexity by introducing new functional groups through C-H bond activation, or by formation of new heterocyclic structures through cascade construction of two or more sequential chemical bonds. This is very useful as it can increase the potential applications of these structures in natural products, pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, and functional materials. This is a representative overview of recent progress since 2010 on green oxidative coupling reactions of C-H bond using O2 or air as internal oxidant focus on Heterocycles. It aims to provide a platform for expanding the scope and utility of air as green oxidant, together with a brief discussion on research into the mechanisms behind it.

Abstract
A method for the C(sp3)-H alkenylation of N-aryl-tetrahydroisoquinoline (THIQ) has been developed by the combination of electrooxidation and a copper catalyst. The corresponding products were obtained with good to excellent yields under mild conditions. Besides, the addition of TEMPO as an electron mediator is crucial to this transformation, since the oxidative reaction could proceed under a low electrode potential. In addition, the catalytic asymmetric variant has also been demonstrated with good enantioselectivity.

Abstract
The direct C2-addition of 5H-oxazol-4-ones to γ-keto-α,β-unsaturated esters catalyzed by a chiral squaramide has been achieved. Diverse highly functionalized γ-keto esters bearing a C2-oxazolone at the α-position were afforded in high yields with excellent stereoselectivities (d.r. > 20 : 1 and up to 98% ee).

Abstract
An efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of uniquely substituted pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine and pyrido[1,2-b]indazole derivatives, which involves acetic acid and molecular oxygen promoted cross-dehydrogenative coupling reactions of respective β-ketoesters and β-diketones (like ethyl acetoacetate, ethyl benzoylacetate, methyl propionylacetate, acetylacetone, dimedone, 1,3-cyclohexanedione, and 1,3-cyclopentanedione) with N-amino-2-iminopyridines. The proposed tentative mechanism involves formal acetic acid-promoted oxidative C(sp3)-C(sp2) dehydrogenative coupling followed by dehydrative cyclization under a catalyst-free condition within high atom economy processes.

Abstract
A novel, metal catalyst-free, and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of (pyrazol-4-ylidene)pyridine derivatives. The process involves dehydrogenative coupling of 1-amino-2-imino-pyridines with 1-aryl-5-pyrazolone derivatives utilizing O2 as the sole oxidant. The new method benefits from a high atom economy, efficiency, and substrate scope, as well as the simplicity of reaction and product purification procedures.

Abstract
α-Aminophosphonates are synthesized by employing unfunctionalized starting materials using cross-dehydrogenative coupling strategy. This method does not require any catalyst and proceeds in the presence of open air as the only oxidant. Mechanistic studies revealed that the reaction is nucleophile dependent and specific to dialkyl phosphite and N-aryl tetrahydroisoquinoline derivatives.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Alkynylation reactions of N-protected tetrahydroisoquinolines have been performed using several different protocols of cross dehydrogenative coupling. Initially, a CuCl-catalyzed method was investigated, which worked well with three different N-protecting groups, namely phenyl, PMP, and benzyl and t-BuOOH as oxidant in acetonitrile as solvent. The peroxide could then be replaced by simple air and acetonitrile for water, leading to an overall very environmentally friendly protocol. Finally, a decarboxylative alkynylation protocol starting from alkynoic acids was also developed using again air as oxidant. This avoids the use of gaseous alkynes in the introduction of short-chained alkyne substituents. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Abstract
Abstract
2-Aminopyridine-3-sulfonyl chlorides undergo a reaction with tertiary amines in the presence of air to produce sulfonylethenamines. The 2-aminopyridine-3-sulfonyl chloride apparently plays a dual role in the process promoting the aerobic oxidation of the amine and electrophilically trapping the resulting enamine.

Abstract
An efficient asymmetric detrifluoroacetylative Mannich reaction of 2-fluoro-1,3-diketones/hydrates with isatin-derived ketimines catalyzed by a chiral copper(II)-diamine complex has been realized. The reaction afforded a series of 3-substituted 3-amino-2-oxindoles bearing fluorine-containing vicinal tetrasubstituted stereocenters in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent diastereoselectivities (up to >20:1 dr) and enantioselectivities (up to 94% ee).

Abstract
The vanadium-catalyzed oxidative coupling of substituted 2-arylimidiazo[1,2-a]pyridines to N-methylmorpholine oxide, which acts as both a coupling partner and an oxidant, has been achieved. This reaction was applied to various substituted imidiazo[1,2-a]pyridine and indole substrates, resulting in yields as high as 90%. Mechanistic investigations indicate that the reaction may proceed via a Mannich-type process. This work demonstrates how oxidative aminomethylation can be used as a useful method to introduce tertiary amines into heterocycles, thus providing an alternative method for conventional Mannich-type reactions.

Abstract
A DTBP-promoted oxidative functionalization of a C(sp(3))-H bond adjacent to oxygen and intermolecular radical addition to olefins without use of any metal catalyst or photoredox catalysis is reported. The reaction has a wide scope of olefin, alcohol, and cycloether substrates, which provides an easy way for direct preparation of α,ω-amino alcohols.
