Abstract
Two new metal-organic coordination polymers (CPs), aqua-2,2'-bipyridine-5-(4'-carboxylphenoxy)isophthalatezinc(ii) polymer [Zn(HL)(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)] n (1) and tris-4,4'-bipyridine-bis-5-(4'-carboxylphenoxy)isophthalatetrizinc(ii) polymer [Zn3(L)2(4,4'-bipy)3] n (2) (H3L = 5-(4'-carboxylphenoxy)isophthalic acid, 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine and 2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine), were obtained under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by microanalysis, FTIR spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The single crystal X-ray diffraction indicated that in both the CPs the coordination networks exhibited varied topologies and coordination modes around the Zn(ii) centers. CP 1 exhibits a one-dimensional (1D) chain structure, which further forms a 3D supramolecular architecture via intermolecular π⋯π and hydrogen bonding interactions, while 2 possesses a 3D framework generated from a 2D layered motif comprising zinc and tripodal carboxylate subunits pillared by 4,4'-bpy ligands. Apart from the structural investigation, the photocatalytic performances of both the coordination polymers to photodecompose an aqueous solution of methyl violet (MV) were examined. The results indicated that both the CPs displayed the potential to photodecompose aromatic dyes and in particular 2 showed good photocatalytic activity for dye degradation under light irradiation. The photocatalytic mechanism through which these CPs executed degradation of dyes has been explained with the assistance of band gap calculations using density of states (DOS) and its decomposed partial DOS calculations.

Abstract
In a study to evaluate the impact of flexible positional isomeric ligands on the coordination geometry and self-assembly process of 3d metal complexes, the synthesis of eight new cobalt(II) complexes with the 2-phenylimidazole (LH) and 5-phenylimidazole (L'H) ligands has been carried out. A variety of parameters/conditions have been probed using the general CoII/X-/LH or L'H (X- = Cl-, Br-, I-, NO3-, NCS-, ClO4-, SO42-) reaction system. Interestingly, X-ray analyses reveal two distinct groups of complexes: reactions with LH only lead to tetrahedral or quasi-tetrahedral complexes {i.e. [CoCl2(LH)2] (1), [CoI2(LH)2] (2), [Co(NO3)2(LH)2] (3), [Co(NCS)2(LH)2] (4)}, whereas L'H favours octahedral coordination {i.e. [Co(L'H)4(MeCN)(H2O)]I2 (5), [Co(L'H)4(MeCN)(H2O)](NO3)2 (6) and [Co(NCS)2(L'H)4)]·2MeOH (7·2MeOH)}. A tetrahedral [Co(NCS)2(L'H)2)] (8) complex was also concurrently isolated with complex 7. The effects of the positional isomeric ligands LH and L'H and of the coordinated inorganic anions on the stoichiometry and packing arrangements of the complexes are thoroughly discussed. The supramolecular assembly is firmly directed, in all types of complexes, by robust N-H...X (X = Cl, I, O or S) motifs, leading to varying dimensionalities (1D, 2D or 3D) and packing arrangements. The formation of these motifs has been activated by choosing appropriate anions X, acting as terminal ligands or counterions. At a second level of organization, additional subordinate C-H...X (X = Cl, I, O or S), C-H...π and π...π intermolecular interactions complement the rigidity of the complexes' packing towards compact 3D assemblies. Hirshfeld surface analyses provided insight into the intermolecular interactions, allowed quantification of the individual contact types and comparison between the complexes.

Abstract
The solvothermal reactions of 5,5′-(1,4-phenylenebis(methyleneoxy))diisophthalic acid (H4L) and the N-donor ancillary ligand 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethyl-4,4′-bipyrazole (bpz) with cadmium(ii) salts at two different reaction temperatures yielded two new metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), viz., [Cd(H2L)(bpz)]n (1) and [Cd2(H4L)(L)(bpz)2]n (2), which have been characterized by FTIR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The single crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed that 1 displays a 3-periodic network with monometallic SBU, while 2 exhibits a 3-periodic network with a 2-fold interpenetration feature. The effects of variation in reaction temperature on the architecture of MOFs 1 and 2 have been discussed. The luminescence investigation indicates that both 1 and 2 displayed good turn-off luminescence sensing against nitroaromatic compounds (NACs), especially m-nitrophenol (MNP), via a decrease in their luminescence intensities with a Ksv value of 6.43 × 103 for 1 and 2.03 × 104 for 2 and LOD values of 1.09 and 0.81 ppm for 1 and 2, respectively. The plausible mechanism for the decline in luminescence intensity of the MOFs with NACs has been addressed using theoretical calculations. The photocatalytic properties for both the MOFs demonstrated that they display efficient photocatalytic performances to degrade methyl violet (MV) under UV irradiation. The plausible mechanism through which these MOFs exhibited photocatalytic properties has been suggested using band gap calculations. Two new d10-based Cd(ii) MOFs were synthesized and their photoluminescence sensing to selectively detect m-nitrophenol (MNP) and ability to decompose the organic dye methyl violet (MV) were explored.![]()

Abstract
A novel 3D Cd(ii) coordination polymer {[Cd(ddpa)(2,2′-bpy)]·H2O}n (1) (H2ddpa = 5,10-dioxo-5,10-dihydro-4,9-dioxapyrene-2,7-dicarboxylic acid, 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) is hydrothermally synthesized in situ, and the influencing factors and mechanism for the in situ reaction are briefly discussed. The synthesis of 1 requires the formation of a new C–O ester bond. This current study confirms that metal ions and N-donor ligands play important roles in the domination of the in situ ligand from 6,6′-dinitro-2,2′,4,4′-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid (H4dbta). Furthermore, the structure, thermal stability and photoluminescent property of 1 are also investigated. Abstract
Three novel coordination polymers, formulated as {[Zn(1,4-bmimb)(PhAA)2]·H2O}n (1), [Cu(1,4-bmimb)0.5(2,6-PyDC)]n (2), and {[Cu(1,4-bmimb)0.5(2-PAC)(HCOO)]·2H2O}n (3) (1,4-bmimb = 1,4-bis((2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene; PhAA = phenylacetic acid; 2,6-PyDC = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid; 2-PAC = 2-pyrazinecarboxylic acid), were synthesized by the self-assembly of mixed ligands with Zn(II) and Cu(II) under solvothermal conditions and characterized by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectra, thermogravimetric analysis, fluorescence spectra and UV-vis absorption spectra. 1 is shown as a Z-shaped chain, which is formed by Zn2+, PhAA ligands, and 1,4-bmimb ligands, and is assembled into a 3D structure by hydrogen bonding and π···π interaction. Similarly, 2 displays a single chain, which is built by Cu2+, 2,6-PyDC ligands, and 1,4-bmimb ligands, and is assembled into a 3D structure by hydrogen bonding and π···π interaction. 3 possesses a 1D ladder structure, which is formed by Cu2+, 2,6-PyDC ligands, and 1,4-bmimb ligands, and is assembled into a 3D structure by hydrogen bonding. The luminescence properties (for 1) and UV-vis spectrum (for 2 and 3) were also studied and discussed.

Abstract
Three metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), [Cd(Hpzbpdc)(H2 O)]⋅H2 O (1), [Mn2 (Hpzbpdc)2 (dmf)2 ] (2), and [H2 N(CH3 )2 ]0.5 [Eu(Hpzbpdc)1.5 (HCOO)0.5 (dmf)0.5 ]⋅DMF⋅0.5 H2 O (3) (H3 pzbpdc=4'-(2 H-pyrazol-3-yl)biphenyl-3,5-dicarboxylic acid), have been solvothermally synthesized from one pyrazoyl-carboxyl bifunctional ligand and characterized by single-crystal structures. The H3 pzbpdc ligand in 1-3 displays various coordination modes through the pyrazoyl and carboxyl groups. Both 1 and 3 contain dinuclear cluster building units and reveal a four-connected gismondine (gis) zeolite 3D framework and a 2D grid layer structure, respectively. Compound 1 shows blue luminescence, compound 3 reveals red luminescence that arises from efficient energy transfer from the organic ligand to the europium(III) ion, and compound 2 reveals an uncommon (3,8)-connected tfz-d; UO3 net with a rare Mn4 (COO)6 cluster and shows antiferromagnetic interactions between the manganese(II) ions.

Abstract
Photocatalysis is a green technology for the treatment of all kinds of contaminants and has advantages over other treatment methods. Recently, much effort has been devoted to developing new photocatalytic materials based on metal-organic frameworks for use in the degradation of many kinds of organic contaminants. With the aim of searching for more effective photocatalysts, the title three-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cd2(C8H4O4)2(C18H16N2O2)]n, was prepared. The asymmetric unit contains one Cd(II) cation, one benzene-1,2-dicarboxylate anion (denoted L(2-)) and half of a centrosymmetric 1,4-bis(pyridin-3-ylmethoxy)benzene ligand (denoted bpmb). Each Cd(II) centre is five-coordinated by four carboxylate O atoms from two L(2-) ligands and by one N atom from a bpmb ligand, forming a disordered pentagonal pyramidal coordination geometry. The Cd(II) centres are interlinked by L(2-) ligands to form a one-dimensional [Cd2L2]n chain. Adjacent chains are further connected by bpmb linkers, giving rise to a two-dimensional network, and these networks are pillared by bpmb to afford a three-dimensional framework with a 3(3).4(2).6(3).7(1).8(1) topology. Each grid in the framework has large channels which are filled mainly by the two other equivalent frameworks to form a threefold interpenetrating net. The compound exhibits relatively good photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution under UV irradiation.

Abstract
Hydrothermal reactions of Zn(OAc)2·2H2O with flexible bipyridyl benzene ligand and three dicarboxylic derivatives gave rise to four new coordination polymers, [Zn7(μ4-O)2(OAc)10(bpmb)]n (1), [Zn(5-OH-1,3-BDC)(bpmb)]n (2), [Zn(1,2-BDC)(bpmb)]n (3) and [Zn2(ADB)2(bpmb)]n (4) (bpmb = 1,4-bis(pyridine-3-ylmethoxy)benzene, 5-OH-1,3-H2BDC = 5-hydroxy-1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid, 1,2-H2BDC = 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, H2ADB = 2,2’-azodibenzoic acid). Their structures were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analyses, IR spectra, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). Compound 1 features a one-dimensional (1D) chain structure based on the rare heptanuclear [Zn7(μ4-O)(μ3-OAc)2(μ2-OAc)8] units. Compound 2 exhibits a novel 2D bilayer structure built from the two parallel 2D (4,4) layers. Compound 3 holds a 2D structure in which the 1,2-BDC ligands work as lockers interlocking 1D [Zn(bpmb)]n chain. Compound 4 comprises a 3D framework constructed by 2D wrinkled [Zn2(ADB)4]n networks and bpmb linkers with a six-connected pcu net. These results suggest that the motifs of the dicarboxylic ligands have significant effect on the final structures. These compounds exhibited relatively good photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution under a Xe lamp irradiation.
