Abstract
Metal/lipase-combo catalyzed dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of racemic chiral alcohols is a general and practical process to obtain the corresponding enantiopure esters R with quantitative conversion. The use of known Ru-catalysts as well as newly developed homogeneous and heterogeneous metal catalysts (Fe, V) contributed to make the DKR process more sustainable and to expand the substrate scope of the reaction. In addition to classical substrates, challenging allylic alcohols, tertiary alcohols, C1-and C2-symmetric biaryl diols turned out to be competent substrates. Synthetic utility further emerged from the integration of this methodology into cascade reactions leading to linear/cyclic chiral molecules with high ee through the formation of multiple bonds, in a one-pot procedure.

Abstract
In this paper, the applications of thermoplastic, thermoset polymers, and a brief description of the functions of each subsystem are reviewed. The synthetic route and characteristics of polymeric materials are presented. The mechanical properties of polymers such as impact behavior, tensile test, bending test, and thermal properties like mold stress-relief distortion, generic thermal indices, relative thermal capability, and relative thermal index are mentioned. Furthermore, this paper covers the electrical behavior of polymers, mainly their dielectric strength. Different techniques for evaluating polymers’ suitability applied for electrical insulation are covered, such as partial discharge and high current arc resistance to ignition. The polymeric materials and processes used for manufacturing cables at different voltage ranges are described, and their applications to high voltage DC systems (HVDC) are discussed. The evolution and limitations of polymeric materials for electrical application and their advantages and future trends are mentioned. However, to reduce the high cost of filler networks and improve their technical properties, new techniques need to be developed. To overcome limitations associated with the accuracy of the techniques used for quantifying residual stresses in polymers, new techniques such as indentation are used with higher force at the stressed location.

Abstract
An Fe(III)-promoted oxidative annulation reaction was developed for the synthesis of 1,2-naphthoquinones. A variety of substituted arylglyoxals and internal alkynes undergo the transformation in the presence of FeCl3 at room temperature to afford the 1,2-naphthoquinone products in good yields in a short reaction time. Interestingly, the products show unusual pseudomigration of the substituent on the arene ring of arylglyoxals. A possible mechanism involving Fe(III)-promoted formation of a vinyl cation from arylglyoxal and alkyne, electrophilic addition of the vinyl cation to the ipso carbon of the aryl group to give a spiral intermediate, and then migration of the keto carbon to the ortho carbon was proposed as key steps and verified using quantum mechanics.

Abstract
This comprehensive review describes methods for the preparation of 1-indanones published in original and patent literature from 1926 to 2017. More than 100 synthetic methods utilizing carboxylic acids, esters, diesters, acid chlorides, ketones, alkynes, alcohols etc. as starting materials, have been performed. This review also covers the most important studies on the biological activity of 1-indanones and their derivatives which are potent antiviral, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antimalarial, antibacterial and anticancer compounds. Moreover, they can be used in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and as effective insecticides, fungicides and herbicides.

Abstract
The indanyl core is ubiquitous in a large variety of drugs and natural products. Remarkable recent progress has been accomplished in the step-economical assembly of functionalization of chiral indanes by means of enantioselective catalysis, with major progress being achieved in organocatalysis and C–H activation chemistry.
