Two new bis(pyridine)-bis(amide)-based copper(II) coordination compounds for the electrochemical detection of trace Cr(VI) and efficient electrocatalytic oxygen evolution

Two new metal-organic compounds (MOCs) [Cu(L)0.5(3-nba)2] (1) and [Cu(L)(2,5-tdc)] (2) have been hydrothermally synthesized by employing the ligand N,N′-di(3-pyridyl)adipoamide (L) and two carboxylic acids (3-Hnba = 3-nitrobenzoic acid, 2,5-H2tdc = 2,5-thiophenedicarboxylic acid) as ligands. Compound 1 displays a metal-organic chain-like structure formed by the {Cu2(3-nba)4} double-paddle wheel units and the µ 2-bridging L ligands. The adjacent polymeric chains form a supramolecular layered structure through hydrogen bonding. Compound 2 shows a 3D metal-organic polymeric framework derived from Cu-L layers and µ 2-bridging 2,5-tdc ligands, which presents a 3,5-connected {4.62}{4.66.83} topology. The electrochemical and electrocatalytic behavior of the two compounds has been studied in detail. Carbon paste working electrodes modified with compounds 1 and 2 can be used as highly selective sensors for detecting traces Cr(VI). Both electrodes show also electrocatalytic performance in oxygen evolution reactions (OERs).

Metal/N-donor-induced versatile structures and properties of seven 0D → 3D complexes based on dpq/dppz and O-bridged tricarboxylate: fluorescence and electrochemical behaviors

Seven 0D → 3D coordination polymers based on dpq/dppz and O-bridged tricarboxylates have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally directed by metal ions, which show different electrochemical and fluorescence behaviors.

Influence of different metal ions on the assembly, structures, and properties of two complexes based on the semi-rigid bis(pyridyl)-bis(amide) ligand and 4,4′-oxybis(benzoic acid)

Two transitional metal complexes, [Zn(oba)(3-bpcd)] n (1) and [Cd(oba)(3-bpcd)0.5] n (2) [H2oba= 4,4′-oxybis(benzoic acid), 3-bpcd=N,N′-bis(pyridin-3-yl)cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxamide], have been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectra, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 possesses a three-fold interpenetrating network based on layers with a 4-connected sql topology. Complex 2 is a layered framework constructed by the oba anions and 3-bpcd ligands, which represents a binodal (3,4)-connected {62.10}{6} topology. The adjacent layers of complex 2 are further linked by hydrogen bonding interactions to build a three-dimensional supramolecular architecture. The differences of metal ions in coordination modes show a significant effect on the final structures of the Zn(II)/Cd(II) complexes. The photocatalytic activities and the fluorescence sensing properties of complexes 1 and 2 were investigated.

An unprecedented single multi-analyte fluorogenic receptor, a sodium salt of N-(methyl-2-thiophenyl)-tyrosine (NaHTyrthio), is reported for the selective sensing of cations (Cu²⁺), small neutral molecules (nitrobenzene and aniline) and anions (F⁻) by variable spectral responses.

Polycarboxylate-directed semi-rigid pyridyl-amide-based various NiII complexes: electrochemical properties and enhancements of photocatalytic activities by calcination

Four different pyridyl-amide-based Ni-complexes were synthesized by tuning polycarboxylates, displaying bifunctional electrocatalytic properties and enhancements of photocatalytic activities by calcination.

Assembly and Properties of Four New Metal–Organic Complexes Based on 1,4-Naphthalenedicarboxylate: Effect of Four Bis-pyridyl-bis-amide Ligands with Diverse Spacers in the Structures

Four new complexes based on 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (1,4-H2NDC) and four bis-pyridyl-bis-amide ligands with various spacers (3-bpye = N,N′-bis(3-pyridinecarboxamide)-1,2-ethane; 3-bpfp = bis(3-pyridylformyl)piperazine; 3-bpcd = N,N′-bis(pyridin-3-yl)cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxamide; and 3-bpcb = N,N′-bis(3-pyridinecarboxamide)-1,4-benzene), namely [Cu2(1,4-NDC)2(3-bpye)(H2O)] (1), [Cu(1,4-NDC)(3-bpfp)0.5] (2), [Cu3(1,4-NDC)3(3-bpcd)3]·2H2O (3), and [Cu(1,4-NDC)(3-bpcb)] (4), have been hydrothermally synthesized. Complex 1 is a 3D coordination network and represents an 8-connected {420.68} topology. Complex 2 shows a 2-fold interpenetrating 3D architecture with a 6-connected {412.63} topology. Complexes 3 and 4 possess similar 2D sql layers with the {44.62} topology, but the coordination modes of 1,4-NDC ligands and the conformations of the two bis-pyridyl-bis-amide ligands are different. The adjacent layers for 3 and 4 are further linked by hydrogen bonding interactions to form 3D supramolecular networks. The successful assemblies of complexes 1–4 imply that by using the different bis-pyridyl-bis-amide ligands with diverse spacers can produce diverse metal–organic networks. Furthermore, the fluorescence and photocatalytic properties of complexes 1–4 have been investigated.

Aminopyridine derivatives controlled the assembly and various properties of Cu–BTC metal–organic frameworks

Three Cu(ii) MOFs based on three aminopyridine derivatives and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid have been synthesized and characterized. The electrocatalytic and photocatalytic properties of complexes 1–3 have been investigated in detail.

Ten metal–organic coordination polymers 1–10 based on semi-rigid bis-pyridyl-bis-amide ligands have been synthesized. The fluorescence sensing and photocatalytic properties of 1–10 have been investigated.
