Two-dimensional lanthanide(III) coordination polymers: solvothermal synthesis, crystal structure, and stability

Based on 2-(4-pyridyl)-terephthalate (H2pta) and oxalate ligands, two new lanthanide-containing coordination polymers (CPs), [Tb(pta)(C2O4)0.5(H2O)2)]·2H2O (1) and [Sm(pta)(C2O4)0.5(H2O)2)]·2H2O (2), have been synthesized under solvothermal conditions. The structures of both 1 and 2 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Infrared, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis data are also presented. The crystals of 1 and 2 exhibit isostructural layer-like networks, crystallizing in the triclinic space group P 1 ‾ $‾{1}$ . The layers are further stabilized and associated into 3D architectures through hydrogen bonding. Remarkably, the CPs 1 and 2 exhibit excellent water stability and remarkable thermostability with thermal decomposition temperatures of more than 420 °C.

Two new inorganic–organic hybrid zinc phosphites and their derived ZnO/ZnS heterostructure for efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production

Two novel inorganic–organic hybrid zinc phosphites, namely, [Zn(1,2-bimb)_0.5(HPO₃)]_n (1) and [Zn(1,4-bmimb)_0.5(HPO₃)]_n (2), (1,2-bimb = 1,2-bis(imidazol-1ylmethyl)benzene; 1,4-bmimb = 1,4-bis((2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1yl)methyl)benzene) were synthesized for the first time by hydrothermal reaction. Compound 1 generates a three-dimensional (3D) pillared-layer structure with a 2-nodal 3,4-connected 3,4T15 topology. While compound 2 exhibits a 2D hybrid zinc phosphite sheet with a 3,4-connected 3,4L83 topology network. Utilizing compound 1 and compound 2 as templates and Na₂S as an etching agent, a series of highly efficient ZnO/ZnS photocatalysts were obtained. The optimized 1-160 sample demonstrates the highest evolution rate of 22.6 mmol g⁻¹ h⁻¹, exceeding the rate of commercial ZnS samples by more than 14.5 times. The remarkable photocatalytic activity should be attributed to the unique heterojunction structure which shortens the free path of charge carriers and enhances the charge separation efficiency. This work provides a facile strategy for preparing photocatalysts with efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production derived from inorganic–organic hybrid material.

Though a solvo-thermal synthesis process, two novel inorganic–organic hybrid zinc phosphite were constructed. Using these hybrid zinc phosphite as template, the ZnO/ZnS heterostructures were prepared by a sulfuration method for enhanced photocatalytic performance.

Coordination Assemblies of Zn(II) Coordination Polymers: Positional Isomeric Effect and Optical Properties

Two Zn(II) coordination polymers (CPs) [Zn(L)(pphda)] (1) and [Zn(L)(ophda)]·H2O (2) were prepared by reactions of ZnSO4·7H2O based on the N-donor 1,4-di(1H-imidazol-4-yl)benzene (L) ligand and two flexible carboxylic acids isomers of 1,4-phenylenediacetic acid (H2pphda) and 1,2-phenylenediacetic acid (H2ophda) as mixed ligands, respectively. Structures of CPs 1 and 2 were characterized by elemental analysis, Infrared spectroscopy (IR), thermogravimetric analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The CP 1 is a fourfold interpenetrating 66-diamond (dia) architecture, while 2 is a 2D (4, 4) square lattice (sql) layer based on the Zn2(cis-1,2-ophda2−)2 binuclear Zn(II) subunits. The luminescent property, including luminescence lifetime and quantum yield (QY), have been investigated for CPs 1 and 2.

Nonenzymatic Glucose Sensing and Magnetic Property Based On the Composite Formed by Encapsulating Ag Nanoparticles in Cluster-Based Co-MOF

Utilizing the oxygen-bridged 5,5'-oxidiisophthalic acid (H₄L) linker, one Co(II)-based 3D porous MOF {[Co₅(L)₂(OH)₂(OH₂)₂(H₂O)₄]·2DMF·H₂O}_n (1) with pentanuclear [Co₅(μ₃-OH)₂(μ₂-OH₂)₂]⁸⁺ cluster was prepared. The glassy carbon electrode was modified by 1, and the obtained electrode revealed electrocatalytic performance for glucose oxidation. The porous MOF matrix is beneficial for dispersing Ag nanoparticles evenly in the interior cages or channels, so Ag@1 composite composed of both Ag nanoparticles and MOF was further prepared through deposition-reduction method to enhance electrocatalytic activity. The result demonstrates that the glucose oxidation by Ag@1 was greatly increased with low detection limit (1.32 μM) and good selectivity and sensitivity (0.135 μA μM^-1), which promote the application of MOF-template porous composites as advanced electrochemical sensor materials. Furthermore, 1 shows an interesting magnetic spin-glass slow dynamics for the existing of peculiar pentanuclear Co(II) clusters.

Luminescent metal–organic frameworks with a 2-(4-pyridyl)-terephthalic acid ligand for detection of acetone

Employing an unsymmetrical pyridyl-dicarboxylate ligand, three MOFs with diverse structures were obtained. The Cd-MOF shows excellent selective sensing towards acetone molecules.

Synthesis, Structure, and Properties of Coordination Polymers Based on 1,4-Bis((2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene and Different Carboxylate Ligands

Three novel coordination polymers, formulated as {[Zn(1,4-bmimb)(PhAA)2]·H2O}n (1), [Cu(1,4-bmimb)0.5(2,6-PyDC)]n (2), and {[Cu(1,4-bmimb)0.5(2-PAC)(HCOO)]·2H2O}n (3) (1,4-bmimb = 1,4-bis((2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene; PhAA = phenylacetic acid; 2,6-PyDC = pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid; 2-PAC = 2-pyrazinecarboxylic acid), were synthesized by the self-assembly of mixed ligands with Zn(II) and Cu(II) under solvothermal conditions and characterized by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectra, thermogravimetric analysis, fluorescence spectra and UV-vis absorption spectra. 1 is shown as a Z-shaped chain, which is formed by Zn2+, PhAA ligands, and 1,4-bmimb ligands, and is assembled into a 3D structure by hydrogen bonding and π···π interaction. Similarly, 2 displays a single chain, which is built by Cu2+, 2,6-PyDC ligands, and 1,4-bmimb ligands, and is assembled into a 3D structure by hydrogen bonding and π···π interaction. 3 possesses a 1D ladder structure, which is formed by Cu2+, 2,6-PyDC ligands, and 1,4-bmimb ligands, and is assembled into a 3D structure by hydrogen bonding. The luminescence properties (for 1) and UV-vis spectrum (for 2 and 3) were also studied and discussed.

By regulation the substituents on 5-position of isophthalic acid, we isolated five Co-based CPs with structural diversity, which all constructed from the Co₂(COO)₄unit. The catalytic properties for Knoevenagel condensation and selective epoxidation of styrene have also been investigated.

The structural difference of and is due to the different pH values of the reaction system. Though complexes were synthesised under similar reaction conditions, the carboxylic groups of H5bppc were partially deprotonated in , and and fully deprotonated in and . Complexes display diverse structures depending on different N-donor ligands and the coordination modes of the multicarboxylate ligand. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal that complexes show antiferromagnetic interactions.

Structural diversity and photocatalytic properties of Cd(ii) coordination polymers constructed by a flexible V-shaped bipyridyl benzene ligand and dicarboxylate derivatives

Reactions of Cd(OAc)₂ with V-shaped bipyridyl benzene and five benzenedicarboxylic acid derivatives gave rise to five new CPs. Complexes 1–5 exhibited relatively good photocatalytic activity towards the degradation of methylene blue.
