Exploration of highly selective fluorogenic 'on-off' chemosensor for H2 PO4 - ions: ICT-based sensing and ATPase activity profiling

In this study, the recognition contour of Chemosensor 1 was investigated using semiaqueous methanol (X_H , mole fraction = 0.31) for a range of anions and bioactive species. Host-receptor signalling based on the internal charge transfer mechanism for Chemosensor 1 was explored and reported. Structure of Chemosensor 1 and its plausible anion coordination based on hydrogen bonding is complemented with density functional theory. Consequently, we investigated the applicability of the synthesized probe in blood plasma, urine, tap water samples, and for monitoring of ATP in lysosomes by apyrase enzyme.

Colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensor for highly selective and sensitive relay detection of Cu2+ and H2PO4- in aqueous media

In this manuscript, a new colorimetric and fluorescent chemosensor (T) was designed and synthesized, it could successively detect Cu²⁺ and H₂PO₄^- in DMSO/H₂O (v/v=9:1, pH=7.2) buffer solution with high selectivity and sensitivity. When added Cu²⁺ ions into the solution of T, it showed a color changes from yellow to colorless, meanwhile, the green fluorescence of sensor T quenched. This recognition behavior was not affected in the presence of other cations, including Hg²⁺, Ag⁺, Ca²⁺, Co²⁺, Ni²⁺, Cd²⁺, Pb²⁺, Zn²⁺, Cr³⁺, and Mg²⁺ ions. More interestingly, the Cu²⁺ ions contain sensor T solution could recover the color and fluorescence upon the addition of H₂PO₄^- anions in the same medium. And other surveyed anions (including F^-, Cl^-, Br^-, I^-, AcO^-, HSO₄^-, ClO₄^-, CN^- and SCN^-) had nearly no influence on the recognition behavior. The detection limits of T to Cu²⁺ and T-Cu²⁺ to H₂PO₄^- were evaluated to be 1.609×10^-8M and 0.994×10^-7M, respectively. In addition, the sensor T also could be served as a recyclable component and the logic gate output was also defined in sensing materials. The test strips based on sensor T were fabricated, which acted as a convenient and efficient Cu²⁺ and H₂PO₄^- test kits.

Highly selective and sensitive phosphate anion sensors based on AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors functionalized by ion imprinted polymer

A novel ion-imprinted electrochemical sensor based on AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) was developed to detect trace amounts of phosphate anion. This sensor combined the advantages of the ion sensitivity of AlGaN/GaN HEMTs and specific recognition of ion imprinted polymers. The current response showed that the fabricated sensor is highly sensitive and selective to phosphate anions. The current change exhibited approximate linear dependence for phosphate concentration from 0.02 mg L⁻¹ to 2 mg L⁻¹, the sensitivity and detection limit of the sensor is 3.191 μA/mg L⁻¹ and 1.97 μg L⁻¹, respectively. The results indicated that this AlGaN/GaN HEMT-based electrochemical sensor has the potential applications on phosphate anion detection.

Construction of a novel INHIBIT logic gate through a fine-tuned assembly of anthryl fluorophores via selective anion recognition and host–guest interactions

A novel ligand containing of anthryl fluorophore was achieved. The assembly and disassembly of anthryl fluorophore by Pi and β-CD as chemical inputs and emission around 500 nm as output resulted in the construction of novel INHIBIT gate.

Understanding the self-assembly of Fmoc-phenylalanine to hydrogel formation

Hydrogels of low molecular weight molecules are important in biomedical applications. Multiple factors are responsible for hydrogel formation, but their role in governing self-assembly to hydrogel formation is poorly understood. Herein, we report the hydrogel formation of fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl phenylalanine (FmocF) molecule. We used physical and thermal stimuli for solubilizing FmocF above the critical concentration to induce gel formation. The key role of Fmoc, Fmoc and phenylalanine covalent linkage, flexibility of phe side chain, pH, and buffer ions in self-assembly of FmocF to gel formation is described. We found that the collective action of different non-covalent interactions play a role in making FmocF hydrogel. Using powder diffraction and infrared spectroscopy, we also report a new polymorphic form of FmocF after transitioning to hydrogel. In addition, we are proposing a model for drug release from FmocF hydrogel.
