Abstract
Hydrogen bonding effect exists widely in various chemical and biochemical systems, primarily stabilizing the molecular structure as a positive factor. However, the presence of intermolecular hydrogen bonds among biomass molecules results in a formidable challenge for the efficient utilization of biomass resources. Here in, a novel strategy of "hydrogen bonds reconstruction" was developed by a series of ternary deep eutectic solvent (DESs) as molecular scissors, which disrupting the initial intermolecular hydrogen bonds and reconstructing the new ones to increase the reactivity of the biomass-based compound. The DESs played a crucial role in enhancing the reactivity of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and promoting its oxidation through reconstructing the hydrogen bonds interactions. Furthermore, DESs was also found to activate the Anderson-type catalyst Na5IMo6O24 (IMo6) through an electron-transfer mechanism, which facilitated the generation of oxygen vacancies and significantly enhances its ability to activate molecular oxygen. With this novel catalytic system, oxidation of HMF exhibited remarkable efficiency as HMF was almost entirely converted into FFCA with an impressive yield of 98 % under the optimized conditions. This finding offers novel insights into the utilization of biomass resources and endows the solvent with new functions in the chemical reaction.

Abstract
Xanthene and acridine derivatives are interesting organic compounds that are used in different research fields like biomedicine and pharmaceutical science. However, applied catalysts for their synthesis have some limitations such as long reaction times, the need for harsh conditions and low yield. So, discovery of novel catalysts for the synthesis of xanthene and acridine derivatives is highly demanded. To overcome the limitation of previous methods on the efficient synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene and 1,8-dioxo-decahydroacridine derivatives, a green heterogeneous organic nano-catalyst (Cu@KCC-1-nPr-HMTA) was synthesized by covalent attachment of hexamethylenetetramine to the cavities and channels of dendritic mesoporous nanosilica (KCC-1). The prepared nano-catalyst was identified using various spectroscopic and microscopic methods including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray energy diffraction (EDX), EDX mapping and nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis (BET-BJH). The prepared green nano-catalyst showed a spherical and dendritic structure with a surface area of 65.699 m2 g-1, average pore size of 40.78 nm and pore volume of 0.66 cm3 g-1. Also, Cu@KCC-1-nPr-HMTA has many chemo-active sites for the condensation reaction and was used as an efficient nano-catalyst towards one-step synthesis of 1,8-dioxo-decahydroacridine and 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives from the reaction of aromatic aldehydes, dimedone, and ammonium acetate under solvent-free conditions. Short reaction times of 1 to 5 minutes for 1,8-dioxo-decahydroacridine and 30 to 55 minutes for 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives, high yields and mild reaction conditions are advantages of the proposed synthetic method. It is hoped that the engineered nano-catalyst will be used for the synthesis of other organic compounds in the future.

Abstract
Ionic liquids are low-temperature molten salts with almost no vapor pressure, and they are composed of organic cations and inorganic anions. Ionic liquids are characterized by the properties of good chemical stability, high solubility, designable structure, high conductivity and so on. The physicochemical properties of an ionic liquid depend on the nature and size of the cation and anion, which confer unique characteristics; hence, these reagents are also termed "designed extractants." As a new class of green solvents, ionic liquids are potential replacements to traditional volatile organic solvents used for extraction; for this reason, ionic liquids have attracted the attention of scientists. Research on the methods of preparation and applications of ionic liquids is being diversified, and they are extensively used in catalytic chemistry, photoelectron chemistry, materials chemistry, analytical chemistry, etc. By functional guiding design, the structures of ionic liquids, especially the imidazole ring cations, can be easily grafted with active groups such as hydroxyl, amino, carboxyl, and cyano groups, so that interactions between the ionic liquids and target molecules can be promoted via the formation of π-π bonds, hydrogen bonds, ionic bonds, and van der Waals forces. In addition, ionic liquids can be readily immobilized on solid carriers by physical or chemical means in order to obtain a new solid material with ionic liquids embedded internally or decorated on the surface. Furthermore, ionic liquids could be converted into ionic liquid-immobilized composite materials by impregnation, grafting, etc. The resulting composites not only suffer minimal loss of ionic liquids but also retain the typical characteristics of the ionic liquids and solid materials, thus showing improved mass transfer performance and better adsorption performance. Immobilized materials are characterized by high enrichment efficiency, high adsorption capacity, good stability, and strong extraction selectivity, as well as the presence of numerous recognition sites and high utilization rate of ionic liquids. In recent years, they have been widely used as solid-phase extraction adsorption materials for the separation of small organic molecules. This review introduces common immobilization methods and the characteristics of ionic liquid-immobilized materials, as well as their application in solid-phase extraction. In this paper, methods for the immobilization of ionic liquids with solid carriers such as silica gel, molecular sieves, molecularly imprinted polymers, graphene oxide, and magnetic nanomaterials are summarized, and the application of ionic liquid-immobilized materials in solid-phase extraction is reviewed. The target substances include alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and other natural active components as well as common drug molecules, organic pesticides, and other organic small molecular compounds. The properties, applications, and separation mechanisms of ionic liquids immobilized with various carriers are systematically introduced. Literature survey shows that the distribution of the binding active sites of ionic liquid-immobilized materials to the target molecules is more uniform, which increases the adsorption capacity of the materials. The adsorption efficiency of ionic liquid-immobilized materials is related to the type of ionic liquid, amount of adsorption material, concentration of the sample solution, adsorption temperature, solution pH, flow rate of the eluent, and type and amount of the eluting solvent. The existing disadvantages of ionic liquids, such as simple structures, insufficient basic theoretical research, and unsatisfactory extraction degree in complex matrixes would also be discussed. The corresponding solutions would be presented with the aim of providing guidance for the application of ionic liquid-immobilized materials in the separation and analysis of targets in complex matrices, thus paving the way for a new direction in the field of extraction and separation.

Abstract
Bisphenol A (BPA) is an important chemical raw material, but the traditional preparation process of BPA is costly and complicated, so it is necessary to find an efficient and environmentally friendly method for the production of BPA. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have attracted widespread attention due to their low cost, low toxicity, low melting point, non-volatilization, easy preparation, recyclablility and biodegradability. In this work, a series of imidazolium-based DESs were synthesized and used for the degradation of polycarbonate (PC), and BPA was obtained from the methanolysis of PC catalyzed by DESs under metal- and solvent-free conditions. It was found that imidazolium-based DES [EmimOH]Cl-2Urea showed excellent catalytic activity and reusability. Under the optimized reaction conditions (the mass ratio of DES to PC is 0.1 : 1, the molar ratio of CH3OH to PC is 5 : 1, 120 °C, reaction time 2 h), the PC conversion and BPA yield were almost 100% and 98%, respectively. Moreover, the kinetics of methanolysis catalyzed by [EmimOH]Cl-2Urea was investigated in the temperature range 100-120 °C, and the results indicated that it is a pseudo-first order reaction with an activation energy of 133.59 kJ mol-1. In addition, a possible catalytic mechanism of PC methanolysis is proposed.

Abstract
A hydrazone ligand, (E)-6-(2-((2-hydroxynaphthalen-1-yl)methylene)hydrazinyl)nicotinohydrazide (H2L), was synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods. The reaction of H2L with CuCl2·2H2O in methanol gave Cu(II) coordination compound, [Cu(HL')(Cl)]·CH3OH (1), which was characterized by elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods (Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and UV-vis). The structure of 1 was also determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Structural studies confirmed the formation of esteric group during the synthesis of 1. Compound 1 was immobilized on 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTS)-functionalized silica gel through the amidification reaction and the obtained heterogeneous coordination compound was utilized as a catalyst for the three-component azide-epoxide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction in water as a green solvent. The structural properties of the heterogeneous catalyst were characterized by a combination of FT-IR, UV-vis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS) analyses. The effect of the amount of catalyst and temperature on the cycloaddition reaction was studied, and the obtained 1,2,3-triazoles were characterized by spectroscopic studies and single-crystal X-ray analysis. The catalytic investigations revealed that this catalytic system has high activity in the synthesis of β-hydroxy-1,2,3-triazoles. It was also found that the aromatic and aliphatic substituents on the alkyne and epoxide together with the reaction temperature have considerable effects on the activity and regioselectivity of this catalytic system.

Abstract
The efficient extraction of natural products from biomass is deemed an essential area of interest using green technology in the pharmaceutical and biochemical industries. In recent years, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have been paying broad interest as compatible, safe, and inexpensive solvents. In this study, we addressed, for the first time, to give a fruitful illustration to extract bioactive compounds from favourite Lycium barbarum L. fruits using DESs as green designer solvents, and displaying the tuneability of DESs to extract bioactive compounds from biomass efficiently. Among the studied DESs, the 1 : 2 M mixture of choline chloride and p-toluene sulfonic acid (DESs-6) with an ultra-sound assisted extraction (UAE) method was more efficient to get high extraction yields of flavonoids including myricetin (57.2 mg/g), morin (12.7 mg/g), and rutin (9.1 mg/g) in net DESs. The resulting extraction method in which 50 mg of sample powder was extracted by UAE for 1.5 h using DESs-6 was found to be a more efficient process than conventional extraction methods such as heating plus stirring. Operational conditions including the extractant to sample solid ratio, the effect of water content, the effect of temperature, recycling of DESs, and the effect of ultra-sound irradiation time were investigated. The proposed DESs based extraction procedure attained recovery for flavonoids were in the range 75.6%-96.9%. Therefore, p-toluenesulfonic acid-based DESs may have strong potential as promising materials for the green and efficient extraction of pharmaceutical compounds from other plants or fruits.

Abstract
Engineering of nanoparticle (NP) surfaces offers an effective approach for the development of enzymatic biosensors or microbial fuel cells with a greatly enhanced direct electron transport process. However, lack of control over the surface functionalization process and the operational instability of the immobilized enzymes are serious issues. Herein, we demonstrate a facile and green deep eutectic solvent (DES)-mediated synthetic strategy for efficient amine-surface functionalization of silicon dioxide and to integrate small gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for a glucose biosensor. Owing to the higher viscosity of the DES, it provides uniform surface functionalization and further coupling of the AuNPs on the SiO2 support with improved stability and dispersion. The amine groups of the functionalized Au-SiO2NPs were covalently linked to the FAD-center of glucose oxidase (GOx) through glutaraldehyde as a bifunctional cross-linker, which promotes formation of "electrical wiring" with the immobilized enzymes. The Au-SiO2NP/GOx/GC electrode exhibits direct electron transfer (DET) for sensing of glucose with a sensitivity of 9.69 μA mM-1, a wide linear range from 0.2 to 7 mM and excellent stability. The present green DES-mediated synthetic approach expands the possibilities to support different metal NPs on SiO2 as a potential platform for biosensor applications.
