Abstract
An efficient electrochemical dual C(sp3)-H amination was developed under metal-free and chemical oxidant-free conditions. A series of imidazo[1,5-a]quinazolin-5(4H)-ones and 5-oxo-4,5-dihydroimidazo[1,5-a]quinazoline-3-carbonitriles can be obtained in high yields and the product distribution can be modulated by virtue of this method. The reaction mechanism was investigated and the corresponding intermediates were studied. The reaction features a broad substrate scope, regulation of the product distribution, mild conditions and scalable preparation.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed reaction of pyridinium salts and trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN) in the presence of diethyl phosphite is developed. This reaction, which allows the single-step construction of biologically important 2-cyanoimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine from readily available starting materials, is realized for the first time and is feasible at the gram scale. The scope of the protocol is demonstrated with 27 examples. A consecutive double cyanation and cyclization can be achieved in this one-pot process. TMSCN plays a dual role not only as the "CN" source but also as the coupling partner for the cyclization of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines.

Abstract
The catalytic conversion of lignin into N-containing chemicals is of great significance for the realization of value-added biorefinery concept. In this article, a one-pot strategy was designed for the transformation of lignin β-O-4 model compounds to imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines in yields up to 95% using 2-aminopyridine as a nitrogen source. This transformation involves highly coupled cleavage of C-O bonds, sp3C-H bond oxidative activation, and intramolecular dehydrative coupling reaction to construction of N-heterobicyclic ring. With this protocol, a wide range of functionalized imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines sharing the same structure skeleton as those commercial drug molecules, such as Zolimidine, Alpidem, Saripidem, etc., were synthesized from different lignin β-O-4 model compounds and one β-O-4 polymer, emphasizing the application feasibility of lignin derivatives in N-heterobicyclic pharmaceutical synthesis.

Abstract
A metal-free and oxidant-free electrochemically enabled strategy for C-3 formylation of imidazopyridines using trimethylamine as a one-carbon source has been established. This conversion has high functional group compatibility under mild conditions and ensures late-stage functionalization of pharmaceutical molecules. Furthermore, unexpected hexafluoroisopropoxylation products have been observed in some cases. Mechanistic studies using cyclic voltammetry and control experiments reveal the key intermediate of the formylation process.

Abstract
A facile, sustainable and eco-friendly protocol has been developed for the halogenation of various heterocycles using TBAX (TBAI/TBAB/TBACl) as halogenating agent, which afforded the products in 90-95% isolated yields. The reaction proceeds with low-cost TBAX and uses greener conditions like EtOH as a solvent and microwave as an alternative energy source for reaction. This protocol has been applied on pyrazoles and extended to different heterocycles like 7-azaindole, indazole, indole and 2-phenylimidazo[1,2-α]pyridines. The gram-scale iodination reaction has also been successfully performed by optimizing conventional heating conditions, which demonstrates its potential applicability in organic synthesis. Further these halogenated pyrazoles have been utilized for different coupling reactions including formation of arylated, alkynylated and sulfenated pyrazoles. However, TBAF mediated fluorination did not work.

Abstract
A novel metal catalyst-free and environmentally friendly method for the regioselective iodination of imidazo[1,2-α]pyridines at their C3 position is disclosed, which has a wide substrate scope and could be sustainable. This reaction proceeds through ultrasound acceleration in the presence of a green alcohol solvent. Compared with a conventional heating system, the reaction efficiency and the rate are significantly improved and the iodine atom economy is maximized using ultrasound techniques.

Abstract
Dual C-H sulfenylation was used to obtain 3-vulcanized imidazoheterocycles using odorless elemental sulfur under catalyst- and additive-free conditions. C-H activation of both imidazoheterocycles and arylamines/arenols/indoles was realized by a practical protocol in which DMSO served as both a solvent and an internal oxidant.

Abstract
A comprehensive account of recent advances in the synthesis of imidazopyridines, assisted through transition-metal-catalyzed multicomponent reactions, C-H activation/functionalization and coupling reactions are highlighted in this review article. The basic illustration of this review comprises of schemes with concise account of explanatory text. The schemes depict the reaction conditions along with a quick look into the mechanism involved to render a deep understanding of the catalytic role. At some instances optimizations of certain features have been illustrated through tables, i.e., selectivity of catalyst, loading of the catalyst and percentage yield with different substrates. Each of the reported examples has been rigorously analyzed for reacting substrates, reaction conditions and transition metals used as the catalyst. This review will be helpful to the chemists in understanding the challenges associated with the reported methods as well as the future possibilities, both in the choice of substrates and catalysts. This review would be quite appealing to a wider range of organic chemists in academia and industrial R&D sectors working in the field of heterocyclic syntheses. In a nutshell, this review will be a guiding torch to envisage: (i) the role of various transition metals in the domain dedicated towards method development and (ii) for the modifications needed thereof in the R&D sector.

Abstract
An efficient Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzed selective bis-cyanation of arylimidazo[1,2-α]pyridines with N-cyano-N-phenyl-p-methylbenzenesulfonamide via N-directed ortho double C-H activation has been developed. The reaction proceeds with broad functional group tolerance to furnish various cyanated imidazopyridines in high yields. The current methodology exhibits unique characteristics, including high bis-cyanation selectivity, operational convenience, and gram-scale production.
