Abstract
An expedient and efficient synthetic method for the divergent synthesis of 1-trifluoromethylated cyclopenta[b]indoles that relies on Brønsted acid-catalyzed dehydrative Nazarov-type cyclization of CF3-substituted 3-indolylallyl alcohols is described. Two classes of 1-trifluoromethylated cyclopenta[b]indoles can be easily accessed simply by changing the NH-protecting group of indoles. With arylsulfonyl protected 3-indolylallyl alcohols as starting materials, the reaction provided the arylsulfonyl protected 1-trifluoromethylated cyclopenta[b]indoles in good to excellent yields, whereas pivaloyl (Piv) protected substrates led to the formation of NH-free 1-trifluoromethylated cyclolopenta[b]indoles with another alkenyl isomer. This protocol features tunable chemoselectivity, operational simplicity, excellent functional group compatibility, and mild metal-free conditions.

Abstract
A novel and unprecedented p-toluenesulfonic acid-catalyzed dehydrative Nazarov-type cyclization/C2-N1 bond cleavage cascade reaction of perfluoroalkylated 3-indolyl(2-benzothienyl)methanols has been developed. This reaction provides an efficient and practical protocol for the construction of highly functionalized benzothiophene-fused cyclopentenones with exclusive stereoselectivity. In addition, this cascade transformation also delineates a rare example of the involvement of the selective C2-N1 bond cleavage of indoles.

Abstract
The nitrogen-interrupted Nazarov cyclization can be a powerful method for the stereocontrolled synthesis of sp3-rich N-heterocycles. However, due to the incompatibility between the basicity of nitrogen and the acidic reaction conditions, examples of this type of Nazarov cyclization are scarce. Herein, we report a one-pot nitrogen-interrupted halo-Prins/halo-Nazarov coupling cascade that joins two simple building blocks, an enyne and a carbonyl partner, to furnish functionalized cyclopenta[b]indolines with up to four contiguous stereocenters. For the first time, we provide a general method for the alkynyl halo-Prins reaction of ketones, thus enabling the formation of quaternary stereocenters. Additionally, we describe the outcomes of secondary alcohol enyne couplings, which exhibit helical chirality transfer. Furthermore, we investigate the impact of aniline enyne substituents on the reaction and evaluate the tolerance of different functional groups. Finally, we discuss the reaction mechanism and demonstrate various transformations of the prepared indoline scaffolds, highlighting their applicability in drug discovery campaigns.

Abstract
The [7-5-5] tricyclic core of daphniphyllum alkaloids, containing contiguous stereogenic centers at C14 and C15 and a tetrasubstituted alkene moiety between C9 and C10, was constructed via a cascade reaction that involved an electrocyclic reaction of a pentadienyl cation and intramolecular interception of the resultant cyclopentenyl cation.

Abstract
Heterocyclisation of tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBS) protected γ-hydroxy-α,β-unsaturated ketones catalysed by para-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TSA) to form substituted furans is reported. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions at room temperature in methanol to give a range of furan products (21 examples, up to 98% yield). Mechanistic experiments suggest the reaction proceeds via in situ deprotection followed by catalytic dehydrative heterocyclisation.

Abstract
The cyclopenta[b]indole scaffold is ubiquitously present in several bioactive natural products and pharmaceutically interesting compounds. Of the numerous methods known for the synthesis of cyclopenta-fused indoles, this review highlights only the metal-catalysed approaches reported from the year 2015 onwards. This review encompasses our own efforts leading to the synthesis of cyclopentannulated indoles, in addition to the seminal contributions of several other researchers.

Abstract
An efficient chiral Brønsted acid-catalyzed enantioselective dehydrative Nazarov-type electrocyclization (DNE) of electron-rich aryl- and 2-thienyl-β-amino-2-en-1-ols is described. The 4π conrotatory electrocyclization reaction affords access to a wide variety of the corresponding 1 H-indenes and 4 H-cyclopenta[ b]thiophenes in excellent yields of up to 99% and enantiomeric excess (ee) values of up to 99%. Experimental and computational studies based on a proposed intimate contact ion-pair species that is further assisted by hydrogen bonding between the amino group of the substrate cation and chiral catalyst anion provide insight into the observed product enantioselectivities.

Abstract
A highly regio- and stereoselective Pd-catalyzed cascade reaction of allenoate adducts has been developed. Various allenoate adducts of phosphine-catalyzed addition of allenoates are found to be efficient substrates for the preparation of 2,3-dihydrobenzofuran. It is the first example of allenoate adducts used as ideal and practical precursors of hard-to-get functionalized 1,3-butadienes for heterocycle synthesis.

Abstract
An efficient synthetic pathway to 1,3-diene-2-ol sulfonates involving the [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement of allenic alcohols with sulfonic acids under mild reaction conditions is described. Abstract
Described herein a divergent strategy for the synthesis of furo[3,4-b]indoles via a sequential Ag(i)/Bi(iii)/Pd(ii) catalysis and cyclopenta[b]indoles via a one-pot Ag(i)/Brønsted acid relay catalysis, starting from the easily accessible 3-(2 aminophenyl)-4-pentenyn-3-ols.
