Abstract
As saturated heterocyclic building blocks become increasingly popular in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery programs, expansion of the synthetic toolkit to novel stereofunctionalized heterocycles is a priority. Herein, we report the development of a palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative asymmetric allylic alkylation reaction to access a broad range of enantioenriched α-difunctionalized 5- and 6-membered sulfones from easily accessible racemic starting materials. The allylic alkylation step was found to occur with high levels of enantioselectivity as a result of a palladium-mediated dynamic kinetic resolution of E/Z enolate intermediates. This methodology paves the way to hitherto unexplored stereodefined cyclic sulfones for medicinal chemistry applications.

Abstract
The efficient Bi-catalyzed 1,2-reactivity of spirocyclopropyl oxindoles has been disclosed with dithianediols as the sulfur surrogate to furnish spiroheterocycles at moderate temperature. The procedure provides a potential approach for the construction of spirotetrahydrothiophene scaffolds with functional group diversity. The catalytic 1,2-reactivity of cyclopropanes, mechanistic studies using density functional theory studies, diastereoselectivity, and additive-free mild conditions are the important practical features.

Abstract
The first organocatalytic asymmetric synthesis of spirooxindole embedded oxazolidines has been developed via a domino reaction involving hemiaminal formation, followed by an unprecedented aza-Michael reaction between isatin derived N-Boc ketimines and γ-hydroxy enones. A quinine derived bifunctional squaramide catalyst was found to be efficient for this reaction, and the products were obtained in good diastereoselectivity and with high enantioselectivity.

Abstract
In this investigation, a nanoporous zeolite-NaY supported sulfonic acid was synthesized and Ni(ii) ions were successfully stabilized on SO3H@zeolite-Y (Ni/SO3H@zeolite-Y). This novel type of zeolitic nanocomposite was characterized using various techniques including FT-IR, FE-SEM, TGA, BET and EDX. Ni/SO3H@zeolite-Y was used as a multi-functional and highly active nanocatalyst for the three-component synthesis of 3-benzimidazolyl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones and new 3-benzthiazoleyl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones via cyclocondensation of 2-aminobenzimidazole or 2-aminobenzothiazole, aromatic aldehydes and thioglycolic acid in acetone-H2O at room temperature. This economical chemical procedure has advantages such as excellent yield in short reaction times, convenient manipulation and high purity of products, applicability to a broad range of substrates, and the use of a nontoxic and heterogeneous acid catalyst with good reusability.

Abstract
A SPINOL-derived chiral phosphoric acid catalyzed asymmetric formal [2 + 3]-annulation of in situ generated alkynyl imines and 1,4-dithiane-2,5-diol has been developed to afford enantiopure α-alkynylated thiazolidones with up to 72% yield and 98.5 : 1.5 er. This tandem annulation involved a tandem S-addition of alkynyl imines/intramolecular acetalization, followed by PDC-mediated oxidation. The α-alkynylated thiazolidones could facilely afford the corresponding chiral α-alkynylated or α-alkenylated cyclic sulfoxides via further elaboration.

Abstract
An asymmetric strategy for the construction of chiral sulfur-containing spirooxindole-fused heterocycles was achieved via a rhodium(II)/chiral phosphoric acid-cocatalyzed reaction between 2-mercaptophenyl ketones and 3-diazooxindoles. With this method, a series of spirooxindole-thiaindan derivatives bearing two contiguous quaternary carbon stereogenic centers were obtained in high yields with high diastereoselectivities and high-to-excellent enantioselectivities.

Abstract
An asymmetric organocatalytic addition of fluorinated phenylsulfonylnitromethane to isatin-derived ketimines was developed. The reaction was efficiently catalyzed by a chiral tertiary amine, cinchonine. This methodology provides a new type of optically active compound with two adjacent quaternary carbon stereocenters in good yield (up to 96%), with moderate diastereoselectivity (up to 5.7 : 1 dr) and excellent enantioselectivity (up to 98/96% ee).
