Abstract
In the title lanthanide(III) compound, [Tb(NO3)2(C2H6N2O)3]NO3, the asym-metric unit contains one Tb3+ ion, three acetohydrazide (C2H6N2O) ligands, two coordinated nitrate anions, and an isolated nitrate anion. The Tb3+ ion is in a ninefold coordinated distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three oxygen atoms and three nitro-gen atoms from three different acetohydrazide ligands and three oxygen atoms from two nitrate anions. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules and the non-coordinated nitrate anions are assembled into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture through extensive N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the amine NH groups of the acetohydrazide ligands and the nitrate oxygen atoms. Hirshfeld surface analysis was performed to aid in the visualization of inter-mol-ecular contacts.

Abstract
Recent studies have shown that mononuclear lanthanide (Ln) complexes can be high‐performing single‐molecule magnets (SMMs). Recently, there has been an influx of mononuclear Ln alkoxide and aryloxide SMMs, which have provided the necessary geometrical control to improve SMM properties and to allow the intricate relaxation dynamics of Ln SMMs to be studied in detail. Here non‐aqueous Ln alkoxide and aryloxide chemistry applied to the synthesis of low‐coordinate mononuclear Ln SMMs are reviewed. The focus is on mononuclear DyIII alkoxide and aryloxide SMMs with coordination numbers up to eight, covering synthesis, solid‐state structures and magnetic attributes. Brief overviews are also provided of mononuclear TbIII, HoIII, ErIII and YbIII alkoxide and aryloxide SMMs.

Abstract
By employing mixed ligands, a new trinuclear dysprosium complex [Dy3(dbm)3(L)4](ClO4)2·CH2Cl2·2MeOH (1, Hdbm = dibenzoylmethane; HL = 2-methoxy-6-((quinolin-8-ylimino)methyl)phenol) was synthesized by a one-pot reaction. According to structural characterization, all the 8-coordinated Dy(iii) sites are well arranged with slightly distorted square antiprism (D4d) geometries. Magnetic measurements reveal that 1 exhibits typical single-molecule magnetic behavior at zero magnetic field and shows rarely open hysteresis loops up to 3 K among open-ring {Dy3} SMMs, where the relaxation time remains very stable under the protection from the Dy-Dy magnetic coupling in the open-ring arrangement of Ising spins.

Abstract
It has been successfully proven that the bis-β-diketone ligands with proper lengths and flexibility are essential for the construction of multiple-stranded helicates, where two Dy3+ centers in subtly different environments allow the tuning of the anisotropic axes. Based on our previous work, we have designed a flexible bis-β-diketone ligand BTT (BTT = 3,3''-bis(4,4,4-trifluoro-1,3-dioxobutyl)-m-terphenyl), which is successfully utilized to construct quadruple-stranded helicates with the formula of [C6H16N]2[Ln2(BTT)4]·2CH2Cl2·4CH3OH [Ln = Ce (1), Dy (2)]. Structural analysis indicates that they crystallize in the tetragonal space group P4/n, and each Ln3+ center is chelated by four diketonate moieties from four ligands, giving rise to a dinuclear quadruple-stranded helicate. Magnetic measurements show that 2 displays single molecular magnet behavior under an applied DC field of 2000 Oe. Further investigations indicate that the anisotropic axes of the Dy3+ centers can be tuned depending on the bis-β-diketonate ligands used to assemble the Dy helicates.

Abstract
Three dinuclear lanthanide(iii) complexes with an acetate bridge, which are synthesised by a Salen-type Schiff base and β-diketonate ligands, i.e. [Ln2L2(TTA)4(OAc)2]·CH2Cl2 (Ln=Eu (1), Gd (2), Dy (3); TTA=thenoyltrifluoroacetonate, H2L=N,N′-ethylenebis(salicylideneimine), are investigated. We obtained the structures of complexes 1–3 by X-ray crystallography. Notably, in terms of the structure of these complexes, what is intriguing is that the acetate groups link two Lniii ions, whereas the cadmium ions do not coordinate. Lanthanide-based luminescence is exhibited by complex 1, which exists in both the solid state and a methanol solution. Through magnetic analysis, it is found that a field-induced single-molecule magnet behaviour is exhibited by complex 3, and the energy barrier is shown to be Ueff=45.97K.

Abstract
A series of Salen-type Zn(II)-Dy(III) complexes [L1Zn(II)ClDy(III)(acac)2]·H2O (1), [L1Zn(II)BrDy(III)(acac)2]·H2O (2), [L1Zn(II)(H2O)Dy(III)(acac)2]·CH2Cl2·PF6 (3), [L2Zn(II)(H2O)Dy(III)(acac)2]·PF6 (4), and Co(III)-Dy(III) complexes [L1Co(III)Br2Dy(III)(acac)2]·CH2Cl2 (5), [L2Co(III)Cl2Dy(III)(acac)Cl(MeO)] (6), [L2Co(III)Cl2Dy(III)(acac)Cl(H2O)] (7), and [L2Co(III)Cl2Dy(III)(NO3)2(MeO)] (8) heterobinuclear single-molecule magnets (SMMs) were synthesized and magnetically characterized. These complexes were constructed by incorporating diamagnetic Zn(II) and Co(III) ions with acetylacetone (acac) and compartmental Schiff-base ligands (H2L1 = N, N'-bis(2-oxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-1,2-phenylenediamine; H2L2 = N, N'-bis(2-oxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane). In the Zn(II)-Dy(III) (1-4) system, the coordination environments of the Dy(III) ions are nearly identical, but the apical coordination atom to the Zn(II) ion is different. Complexes 1, 2, and 4 displayed no magnetic relaxation in the absence of external magnetic field, but complex 3 displayed more pronounced SMM behavior with a relaxation energy barrier Ueff/ kB 38 K and magnetic hysteresis at 1.8 K. The SMM performances of 5, 6, and 7 were enhanced significantly by incorporating an octahedral Co(III) instead of square-pyramidal Zn(II) and replacing one of acac- group around Dy(III) ion by a neutral O atom, displaying Ueff of 167, 118, and 75 K as well as magnetic hysteresis up to 3.5 K. These studies indicated that the remote diamagnetic Zn(II) and Co(III) ions played a key role, and the SMM properties were very strongly related to the special coordination atoms configuration around Dy(III) ion. When this coordination configuration around was broken as 8 exhibited, however, it resulted in a dramatically decreased SMM performance. From this work, the key factors that significantly affect the SMM performance of these heteronuclear Zn(II)/Co(III)-Dy(III) SMMs are unambiguously presented.

Abstract
A W-shaped {Ga-Dy-Dy-Dy-Ga} coordination cluster, [Ga2 Dy3 (L)6 (MeO)2 (MeOH)3 ]⋅NO3 ⋅7 MeOH (1) with H2 L, (E)-2-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylideneamino)phenol was synthesized, characterized, and the magnetic properties investigated. The magnetic measurements indicate that the compound shows single-molecule magnet (SMM) behavior under zero dc field. This suggests that the combination of GaIII ions and DyIII ions (4 f) is a successful strategy to assemble SMM clusters. The combination of these metal ions also offers prospects in dual functionality therapeutics for medical applications.
