A unique 3D metal-organic framework based on a 12-connected pentanuclear Cd(II) cluster exhibiting proton conduction

Tailored Porous Ferrocene-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks as High-Performance Proton Conductors

Although crystalline metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained a great deal of interest in the field of proton conduction in recent years, the low stability and poor proton conductivity (σ) of some MOFs have hindered their future applications. As a result, resolving the issues listed above must be prioritized. Due to their exceptional structural stability, MOFs with ferrocene groups that exhibit particular physical and chemical properties have drawn a lot of attention. This study describes the effective preparation of a set of three-dimensional ferrocene-based MOFs, MIL-53-FcDC-Al/Ga and CAU-43, containing both main group metals and 1,1'-ferrocene dicarboxylic acid (H2FcDC). Multiple measurements, including powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), infrared (IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), confirmed that the addition of ferrocene groups enhanced the thermal, water, and acid-base stabilities of the three MOFs. Consequently, their proton-conductive behaviors were meticulously measured utilizing the AC impedance approach, and their best proton conductivities are 5.20 × 10-3, 2.31 × 10-3, and 1.72 × 10-4 S/cm at 100 °C/98% relative humidity (RH), respectively. Excitingly, MIL-53-FcDC-Al/Ga demonstrated an extraordinarily ultrahigh σ of above 10-4 S·cm-1 under 30 °C/98% RH. Using data from structural analysis, PXRD, SEM, thermogravimetry (TG), and activation energy, their proton transport mechanisms were thoroughly examined. The fact that these MOFs are notably easy to assemble, inexpensive, toxin-free, and stable will increase the range of practical uses for them.

Easy Handling and Cost-Efficient Processing of a Tb3+-MOF: The Emissive Capacity of the Membrane-Immobilized Material, Water Vapour Adsorption and Proton Conductivity

The development of convenient, non-complicated, and cost-efficient processing techniques for packing low-density MOF powders for industry implementation is essential nowadays. To increase MOFs' availability in industrial settings, we propose the synthesis of a novel 3D Tb-MOF (1) and a simple and non-expensive method for its immobilization in the form of pellets and membranes in polymethacrylate (PMMA) and polysulphone (PSF). The photoluminescent properties of the processed materials were investigated. To simulate industrial conditions, stability towards temperature and humidity have been explored in the pelletized material. Water-adsorption studies have been carried out in bulk and processed materials, and because of the considerable capacity to adsorb water, proton-conduction studies have been investigated for 1.

A New Mn(II) Complex: Magnetic Property and Application Values in Foot and Ankle Arthritis

The solvothermal reactions of C3-symmerical 4,4 ${}^{\prime }$ ,4 ${}^{\prime }$ -nitrilotribenzoic acid and MnCl2 afforded a novel Mn(II) compound, and its formula is [Mn3(TCA)2(e-urea)2(DMA)2]n·n(urea)·n(DMA) (1, H3TCA=4,4 ${}^{\prime }$ ,4 ${}^{\prime }$ -nitrilotribenzoic acid, e-urea=2-imidazaolidone, DMA=N,N ${}^{\prime }$ -dimethylacetamide). Magnetic property investigation of 1 indicates weak antiferromagnetic mutual effects exist between neighboring Mn(II) ions. Serial biological tests were adopted to discover new compound activity. Firstly, the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was conducted to measure the content of inflammatory cytokines released into the synovial fluid. A New (3, 6)-Connected Heterometallic Coordination Polymer: Therapeutic and Protective Effect on Ischemic Cerebral Infarction

Solvothermal reaction of 4,4’,4’-nitrilotribenzoic acid (H3TCA) with Ca(NO3)2·4H2O and Cd(NO3)2·4H2O successfully afforded a heterometallic compound, that is, [Cd2Ca(TCA)2(DMA)2(H2O)3]n·2n(DMA) (1, DMA = N,N’-dimethylacetamide). The structure of 1 was further characterized through EA, diffraction of single crystal X-ray, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) together with powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Moreover, complex 1’s luminescent performance in solid state was also discussed at environmental temperature. The applications on the ischemic cerebral infarction therapy were evaluated, and the specific mechanism was investigated at the same time. Firstly, the hypersensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) content in human brain microvascular endothelial cell (HBMEC) was measured with real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Then, interleukin-18 and interleukin-1β content released through the HBMEC was detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Triarylamine-based porous coordination polymers performing both hydrogen atom transfer and photoredox catalysis for regioselective α-amino C(sp3)-H arylation

Direct functionalization of C(sp³)–H bonds in a predictable, selective and recyclable manner has become a central challenge in modern organic chemistry. Through incorporating different triarylamine-containing ligands into one coordination polymer, we present herein a heterogeneous approach to the combination of hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) and photoredox catalysis for regioselective C–H arylation of benzylamines. The different molecular sizes and coordination modes of the ligands, tricarboxytriphenylamine (H₃TCA) and tris(4-(pyridinyl)phenyl)amine (NPy3), in one coordination polymer consolidate the triarylamine (Ar₃N) moiety into a special structural intermediate, which enhances the chemical and thermal stability of the polymers and diminishes structural relaxation during the catalytic process. The inherent redox potentials of Ar₃N moieties prohibit the in situ formed Ar₃N˙⁺ to earn an electron from C(sp³)–H nucleophiles, but allow the abstraction of a hydrogen atom from C(sp³)–H nucleophiles, enabling the formation of the C(sp³)˙ radical and the cross-coupling reaction to proceed at the most electron-rich sites with excellent regioselectivity. The new heterogeneous photoredox HAT approach skips several interactions between transient species during the typical synergistic SET/HAT cycles, demonstrating a promising redox-economical and reagent-economical heterogeneous platform that has not been reported for α-amino C–H arylation to form benzylamine derivatives. Control experiments based on monoligand coordination polymers suggested that the mixed-ligand approach improved the photochemical and photophysical properties, providing important insight into rational design and optimization of recyclable photocatalysts for rapid access to complex bioactive molecules and late-stage functionalized pharmaceuticals.

Metal-Bonded Redox-Active Triarylamines and Their Interactions: Synthesis, Structure, and Redox Properties of Paddle-Wheel Copper Complexes

Four new triphenylamine ligands with different substituents in the para position and their corresponding copper(II) complexes are reported. This study includes their structural, spectroscopic, magnetic, and electrochemical properties. The complexes possess a dinuclear copper(II) paddle-wheel core, a building unit that is also common in metal-organic frameworks. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that the triphenylamine ligands and the corresponding complexes are susceptible to oxidation, resulting in the formation of stable radical cations. The square-wave voltammograms observed for the complexes are similar to those of the ligands, except for a slight shift in potential. Square-wave voltammetry data show that, in the complexes, these oxidations can be described as individual one-electron processes centered on the coordinated ligands. Spectroelectrochemistry reveals that, during the oxidation of the complexes, no difference can be detected for the spectra of successively oxidized species. For the absorption bands of the oxidized species of the ligands and complexes, only a slight shift is observed. ESR spectra for the chemically oxidized complexes indicate ligand-centered radicals. The copper ions of the paddle-wheel core are strongly antiferromagnetic coupled. DFT calculations for the fully oxidized complexes indicate a very weak ferromagnetic coupling between the copper ions and the ligand radicals, whereas a very weak antiferromagnetic coupling is found among the ligand radicals.

Construction of Zeolite-Like Cluster Organic Frameworks from 3 d-4 d/3 d-3 d Heterometallic Supertetrahedral Secondary Building Units: Syntheses, Structures, and Properties

Two zeolite-like cluster organic frameworks based on Cd-Cu/Mn-Cu heterometallic supertetrahedral secondary building units have been successfully constructed under solvothermal conditions, namely, Cu[Cd₄ Cu₆ (L)₄ (H₂ O)₁₈ ](Ac)₉ ⋅DMA⋅3 H₂ O (1), and Cu[Mn₄ Cu₆ (L)₄ (Ac)₃ (H₂ O)₁₂ ](Ac)₆ ⋅CH₃ CN⋅13 H₂ O (2), where H₃ L=2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-(pyridin-4-yl)-1,3-propanediol, Ac=CH₃ COO^- , DMA=N,N'-dimethylacetamide. Single-crystal X-ray structural analysis reveals that both 1 and 2 exhibit 3-dimensional zeolite-like architectures with similar 4-connected components, but possess definitely different topologies of diamondoid (dia) and uncommon lonsdaleite (lon), respectively. 1 and 2 represent the first cases of zeolite-like cluster organic frameworks containing Cd-Cu/Mn-Cu heterometallic supertetrahedral secondary building units. Furthermore, the magnetic properties and porous nature of 1 and 2 were also studied.
